LFG Interest Check: A Jedi United Nations Type Group (All Jedi)

So right now we have several Jedi groups spread out across the galaxy. They all have slightly different traditions, and styles, and goals. I was thinking it might be fun to tell an overarching story about these groups trying to work together, similar to how some of the countries of the world try to work together in the United Nations.

The idea is every Jedi group would have representatives and together we debate philosophy, aid each other on missions, and try to come together as a stronger unity of Jedi.

But of course it doesn’t always work this way. So many ideas and differing views can lead to clashes, hard feelings and even war. The story then would be one of differing ideologies, politics, and consequences of all these “nations” trying to get along.

Would this be something the differing groups of Jedi would want to participate in? Or am I high on cold meds and don’t realize how dumb this is?

Yea but isn’t that just in one faction? I meant more like all the Jedi groups come together to try and have some sort of unity.

The Underground is a network of all Jedi groups across many enclaves. Its HQ is in the Republic, but the network is not limited to Republic Jedi at all. The Network currently works with Lightsworn, for example.

Amz Amz or Lorn Reingard Lorn Reingard could better answer your question most likely, but it’s not limited to one faction’s worth of writers.

Thank you! I might hop over to the Discord to see if I can get involved coz I got ideas!

This has been tried many times in the past, and usually ended with people unwilling to work together IC or Out, or it's just one faction. These days though I think something like this could really take off. I'd love to see a UN style group that isn't tied to one factions vision of the Jedi, or any major faction. Small Jedi groups represent.

That’s kind of what I was thinking. Like the Jedi decade and are different but also try to help each other. But I do worry about if the groups want to work together because I do see a lot of silo happening which just might be how peeps want to tell stories (which is also cool).

Ultimately, like in other conversations we have had - do what you think is going to be fun, regardless. If you write and build it, people will naturally come and partake and be involved. Writers go where people are active and having a good time, more than anything else. Now, people will always have their own ideas and may not want to work with others and/or other groups, and you can't prevent that, or force cooperation to happen. Whatever you do, don't start with the idea that you're going to be able to bring everyone together, go with the idea that you're making something that you want to be part of and find enjoyable, and those who resonate with it will come, and often with more enthusiasm because it feels organic rather than forced.

my question is how would this organization feel about the lilaste order

I’d imagine that as nice as a unified Jedi “UN” sounds, the disposition towards various Force traditions outside the “orthodox” will be just as varied as the enclaves and orders that constitute it. My Bogano and New Cov enclaves would be far more willing to entertain more neutral Force traditions than say, the Lightsworn or TJO.

On paper, unified sounds nice, but they will never agree on everything. It’s why there’s so many groups in Legends and on Chaos. The placement of a single punctuation mark in dogmatic texts could change the entire meaning and birth a new school of thought. I foresee a unified Jedi faction ultimately succumbing to what Foundation wanted to pursue, a Jedi civil war—which isn’t a bad story beat, and certainly not a foreign narrative in Legends.
