  • Dakka: Because it has less weapons than typical for ships it's size, it can fire the ones it does have twice as fast

WEAKNESSES

  • Overheat: Due to the age of the vessel it's Projectors can remain active only for about two hours before it needs to shut down for four
  • Struggles against normal destroyers: Due to the drain on the main Reactor from the Gravity Projectors, it's shields are not as strong as those of other destroyers in its size class, leading to it taking more punishment than normal
  • Outdated: Due to outdated designs, it's Electronics are easily jammed
  • Close range: due to the drain on its power from the projectors, the cannons have only three Fourths the range of other destroyer weapons in their class
  • Ion: Highly vulnerable to Ion atracks
DESCRIPTION

A retrofit on a Sienar Product from KDY as proof of concept, this Destroyer was made to counter attacks from an increasingly determined Rebel Alliance, and scored major victories during early deployment. Various unsecured examples still wait adrift or in lost drydocks, waiting for one with the power to claim them. The design was so feared that Leia Organa herself was reputed to have believed that the Alliance would never have survived had the Empire thrown caution to the wind and developed them en masse. But Imperial Naval Leadership balked at the idea for various reasons, such as the drain on shields which they felt was unacceptable (Indeed, interviews from retired Imperial Officers indicated that many in higher positions of command felt the Projectors themselves were much too large for the tasks the Empire required, and that they could have gotten the same if not better results from mounting smaller versions such as what was found on the 418 Cruiser as an alternative, citing how many of the Rebel Alliance vessels were smaller than Star Destroyers and even the ones that were not struggled to match their firepower in most cases.)

Other reasons may have been more selfish--it is hardly a secret that many an officer and stormtrooper viewed Rebels and Rebellion in general as a twisted form of Job Security, and being too good at your job is a quick path to budget cuts and ran the risk of reducing the total number of ships needed to control a given system...a possibility a bloated military addicted to projecting power whenever possible simply wasn't willing to consider, with too many egos bent on controlling the biggest, most powerful ships that could possibly be fielded, hang the practicality.

Still others, perhaps even Rebel Sympathizers in the Imperial Navy, were all too aware of its potential, and how only a few tweaks would be necessary to make it a true threat, may have done their best to poison the well in regards to the concept, citing that the Projectors greatly complicated expenses for line ships. Either way, the result is this: A Short Sighted Galactic Empire is a dead Galactic Empire.
