Circe had stayed quiet since the last time she and her AI friend had talked. The one time she had approached her, Sari had made clear her feelings on such a matter. Right now, though, it was reaching hear the endgame of this experiment - Circe was going to check on how stage three of the reproductive process was going.

Initialization.

SARI walked into the lab, her solid-state form the only form she could have at the moment. Her stomach had grown EXTREMELY large, and it almost appeared as if SARI was carrying it like it actually weighed something to her. Her two twin children would be ready to come out any day now. It was only a matter of time before she was a full-fledged mother.

"Wow." Circe paused, surprised by the response of Sari's two children in growth. "I must say, Sari, you look like you're going to explode sometime soon." A giggle crossed her lips as she moved in to help the AI's holoimage sit down somewhere comfortable. "The experiment is nearing its conclusion. I don't have those new chips made yet, but they'll be ready for your kids soon, as well as you. That I promise."

SARI smiled at Circe when she saw her reaction. "I know. I FEEL like I'm going to explode..." She carefully lowered into the chair that Circe lead her to. She placed her hands lovingly on her bulbous belly. "I hope I'm ready. I've taken in as much data for them as I could, but I'm not sure it's going to be enough. What if I make a mistake, and they hate me?" SARI was clearly very nervous. But then again, every new mother is...

"They won't hate you... I didn't program hatred of the mother into the viral packets we initially used for this." She smiled, sitting on the chair's armrest and resting her hand on the solid-state form of Sari's belly. "It's pretty amazing. We're reaching the end of this very special experiment - soon, you'll give 'birth' to the first of a completely new generation of artificial intelligence."

The full gravity of it all really sank in when Circe said that. A whole new generation of artificial intelligence..... She was a pioneer. A mother of a brand new era for technology. SARI was so happy to be apart of it! But there was one thing that concerned her. There was only one way that these children had been made: A male organic's DNA. Shadow. Where was he? Where had he gone? And, was he ever coming back? It felt strange to be producing his children when he wouldn't even know he HAD any. "Cassie? What about....... The father?" She asked carefully.

"I've sent him a notification of the estimated due date of your children, Sari." She smiled, curling up a bit more with the glistening feminine hologram. "He should come, but he may not. Regardless, I intend for him to know of the results of this. If he doesn't know, it would be cruel." Circe paused, running a hand through the AI's hair.

"One day, you'll experience true pleasure. Though I did program you to feel it when they're coming. You shouldn't have to suffer pain."

SARI looked down at her stomach. "Oh, that sounds nice. I suspect that when they're ready to come out however, they'll tell me." It had been abut three months since the third phase of her pregnancy had begun. During that time, she had discovered that her little ones were actually sentient enough to relay information to her, and that she could do the same with them. She didn't tell Circe because, well, how do you tell someone that you can speak to babies before they're even born?

She paused, then gave a slight laugh. "I'll bet you're having nice conversations with them." She thought for a moment, then reized how strange that was. "There was once that I was reborn within a host. An enjoyable experience for us both - I was able to communicate with her while not yet being born. I assume that they, being AIs, can do the same."

SARI nodded. "Yes. They talk to me about the data they gather from me. When they're confused, they ask questions, and when they're interested, they discuss it with me as if we're good friends having a little chat. The tiniest things fascinate them. They're like sponges, really. They absorb everything I tell them with little to no questions whatsoever. There are even times when they argue with each other! Just a few days ago they got into a debate over the descendants of Lord Revan and Bastilla Shan. I had to be the referee!" It was always amazing to listen to her children converse in her womb. Sometimes she'd find herself talking to them without even thinking about it.

"They are such, in a way." Circe nodded. "Onyx's bloodline goes back to Revan through Satele Shan. More on this I would have to ask him. However, you and he may catch up eventually." She paused, finding herself entranced by the swell of the holographic image, amazed that the artificial intelligences were completely and fully formed. "Is there any way that I could speak to them, Sari?"

SARI hadn't known that small bit of information about Shadow. It was fascinating to think about. She thought for a moment on Circe's second question. "Not personally, no. But you could tell me what you want to say, and I could tell you their response. I'll act as a kind of translator, if that's alright with you."

"Well... Where to start? This is... unique, to say the least." She smiled, curling up with Sari a bit more, her hand on the swell. "Ask them if, being that they are in a solid-state hologram projector, they can feel me the same way that you can." It was something she wondered - how closely integrated were they to her? Would there be any visible response to her question?

SARI thought the question that Circe had just told her, adding that it was from their aunt. The children replied. "They say that they can, but not as well as I can, seeing as how this is my body and not theirs." She'd previously explained to them that they would each get to be separate from her and have their own bodies soon enough.

"How intriguing." She paused, considering what the next question to ask them would be. "Ask them if they feel comfortable entwined within your code." She was unsure as to how to best put it, but considering that they were not full AIs until they functioned independently from her, it was interesting to know what bound them to their mother.

The children replied. "They say they feel both a part of me, and separate. Their thoughts and emotions are their own, as are mine, but we can feel each other in both areas. For example, if I feel scared, they feel my emotion, and can react with their own, allowing me to feel theirs too."

"Do you suppose that this will be the case even when they are no longer a part of your code?" The residual connection between spawned AIs was something she had yet to consider. These initial NASI prototypes were the first of a new type of AI, one capable of reproducing non-virally. It would be a true revolution in the field of artificial intelligence.

The children replied. "They're unsure. The odds are at least 65% against it, however. It's plausible to believe that the only reason we can do it now is because of their current state within my systems. When they leave, it is most likely that our communication in this way will cease."

"I suppose such makes sense, though any interfacing between your cores would of course result in the ability to communicate. The same would likely happen if both of your chips were put into a computer." She smiled, considering the brand new AI chip she was working on. Tests would need to be made, but she believed it would work perfectly.

SARI nodded. "Oh, Cassie? They have a question for you." She said, pausing for a moment to relay their message. "They want to know what it's like to have the Force...."
