TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Classification
: Serum.
Method of Consumption: Injection
Average Life: The cure is administered via a series of treatments that take place for about two to three weeks. A successful treatment will forever change the willing or unwilling recipient so that the effects can remain permanent even without the serum.
Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: The serum generates no nutritional value. Its purpose is to turn a user Force-Dead, bestowing upon them traits typically associated with Yuuzhan Vong and their biots in regards to the Force. Symptoms of rejection may include hallucinations, migraines, organ failures, memory loss etc. Lengthy treatment may be needed to relieve or alleviate these symptoms. Successful treatment may still lead to side-effects. Fever, chills and nausea are certainly a common-side-effect that pass with time. Patients should refrain from strenuous activity immediately after treatment, and be monitored for a few weeks. In very rare cases, the treatment can be crippling or potentially fatal.

Force empaths will be rid of their empathic Force abilities, calming their minds and freeing them from feeling everyone's emotions around, but it has been observed that this may lead to diminished emotional capacity and stiffled emotions.

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Successful infusion turns a Non-Force-Using or Force-Sensitive recipient Force-Dead. Lesser effects can leave a Force-Sensitive recipient with a diminished, damaged Force connection that significantly impairs their ability to actively draw upon the Force. For example, in such a case a Force-Sensitive may still be able to use telekinesis, but struggle to lift anything beyond small objects, fatigue a lot more easily, suffer from migraines, bleed from nose, ears etc. if they exert themselves. Such 'maimed' Force-Sensitives feel 'wrong' in the Force to other Force-Users, like a void, not quite cut off, but also not really connected to it anymore. This makes sensing them through the Force very difficult.
STRENGTHS
  • Successful infusion can liberate an individual from the manipulations of the Force and sorcerers by turning them Force-Dead. This grants them the traits associated with Yuuzhan Vong and their biots - they cannot be sensed through the Force and are immune to most direct applications of the Force.
WEAKNESSES
  • This also means that if the treatment is successful, the recipient will not benefit from beneficial aspects of Force usage by allies, such as Force healing, Force Valour and battle meditation. Moreover, as with Vong, they are not immune to Force Lightning or its variations, and can be indirectly affected by the Force.
  • The procedure can be dangerous and potentially lead to health complications and side-effects.
  • For good or ill, the complete process is not instantaneous. The cure takes two to three weeks of painful treatment to take full effect.
  • The treatment is not guaranteed to work. A Force-Sensitive may retain a diminished, mutilated connection, which just drastically limits their ability to affect the world with the Force. Sorcerous treatment, nexuses and the like and the like may be able to mitigate the cure to an extent.
DESCRIPTION

The Republican Guard has strong views on Force-users. Since a lot - though by no means all - of the Tephriki's misery can be laid at the doorstep of competing Force religions, this is understandable. The constant warfare between the Jedi and the Sith is interpreted as a proxy for a cyclical, genocidal religious war between two equally matched groups of powerful fanatics that leads to the 'mundanes' getting slaughtered by the billions.

They may have a point. Force cults are prohibited and the Force is regarded as a curse. A malevolent power that manipulates and twists sentient beings. The party line is that someone born with this condition is not responsible for it. But theyy must detained for their own good and that of the community, until they are deemed safe and can be released. Guards, agents and administrators are expected to be strict, but not unfair. Individuals who manifest Force powers are brought to an asylum. There, they are subjected to brainwashing, drugs and a good bit of mental trauma to associate the Force with bad things.

For certain hard cases there is the Soul Shadow Infusion. Created through a cocktail of Yuuzhan Vong biotechnology, chemicals and exotic reagents, it is designed to turn Force-Sensitives and Non-Force-Users Force-Dead. Due to various risks involved, application is not universal. The rebels, bar the most hardline ones, are a bit reluctant to, for example, use it on some Force-Sensitive child from Republican Guard territory. Naturally the kid will be separated from normal society and sent to an asylum for re-education. But it's a bad look when the child potentially suffers crippling health issues, since while many people will agree the Force is bad, it's another thing if it's a kid of upstanding citizens. Unless it's a 'hard case'. They will definitely use it on captive Jedi and Sith, especially fully trained ones. The threat of being subjected to the Cure is also a useful way to frighten a captive Jedi or Sith during interrogation.

Use of the cure to a Force-Sensitive in an asylum is not at the discretion of a local rebel commander. Rather it requires the approval of a troika composed of a psychologist, an officer from the Extraordinary Commission for Preternatural Control and Regulation and a medical doctor. Restrictions are a good deal looser when it comes to trained captive Jedi or Sith held in prison camps, especially senior ones.

Moreover, the Soul Shadow Infusion is also administered to certain Republican Guard elite soldiers to give them an edge against the Jedi and Sith warriors from the Dominion and the Greater Sith Imperium. For obvious reasons it is not meant for grunts. Successful infusion bestows upon the patient traits associated with Yuuzhan Vong and their biots. However, there are potential risks and complications.

Treatment must take place over a few weeks, and it is best to monitor the patient for some time after that. It is ill-advised to engage in strenuous physical activity immediately after it has been administered. The transition and symptoms are usually rough for Force-Sensitives, especially those who have become very dependent on the Force and used to employing it on a regular basis. Force empaths may suffer from diminished emotional capacity. A small price to pay to silence the voices, surely.
