SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Luxum Crystals: Energy derived from dedicated Isotope-5 generators are directed through channels and focused through a series of luxum crystals, ionizing the energy in preparation for its release as a powerful pin-point beam of energy fired from collection dishes mounted on the warship's hull.
STRENGTHS
  • Shield Breaker: Specifically designed with planetary shields in mind, rather than capital ship shields, the Indomitable carries enough power to significantly weaken or outright shut-down a planetary shield with a heavy burst of ion energy at a localized point.
  • Isotope-5: Unlike previous incarnations, this weapon derives its power from dedicated Isotope-5 generators, greatly increasing the weapons energy output and volatility.
WEAKNESSES
  • Slow Recharge: The weapon itself took several minutes to recharge, as the firing chambers and the plasma rotors had to be thoroughly de-ionized before another firing sequence could be initiated. Depending on the nature of the conflict and the damage sustained by the warship, this process could take longer than the average projection.
  • Excess Venting: With all the energy being put out by the weapon, extra venting systems were installed around the weapon to allow run-off energy to be expelled out into space rather than collect inside the weapon and cause a meltdown. These exhaust ports can be exploited by crafty enemies looking to disable the weapon.
  • Indiscriminate: While the released ion energy had been condensed into a single beam, the potential still remains for friendly-fire when firing at the intended target. Ion energy does not possess any loyalty to those who utilize it for war and will not relent on its destructive potential against either friend or foe.
  • Directional Firing: The Indomitable needs to be pointed directly at its intended target for the ionic blast to be effective, and that means turning the entire warship prow-first towards them. Evasive targets like smaller ships and other vessels can steer out of the weapon's line-of-sight to avoid it.
DESCRIPTION

Though the Sith Empire had experimented with its own powerful specialized ion weaponry, such projects never fully got off the ground save for a few rare instances. After Operation: Endgame, however, the Sith Empire acquired technical readouts of the specialized ion weapon the Alliance had installed on their dreadnought, the Vanguard, before it had been destroyed over Coruscant during the Sith attack.

With this acquisition, the Sith Empire reinvigorated experimentation in the realm of highly destructive ion weaponry. Minds drifted back to the battles of Serenno and Ossus for inspiration, and the goal became to create a weapon that could punch through planetary shielding and facilitate landfall.

Large focusing dishes were necessitated to focus the energy into a highly compact, but powerful, beam of ion energy. Luxum crystals were needed to thoroughly ionize the energy, and Isotope-5 was designated as the principle energy by which the entire weapon would be powered by.

Hey there! I really like how using old tech from two subs can make a weapon such as this. However, there is one problem I potentially see.

Both forms of technology you submitted had the weakness of spreading out the wave of energy. While I do see that is mitigated due to the Luxum crystals, I would like to see some form of a combative weakness to the weapon to compensate for that. Something that can be exploited in fleeting combat or the like.
