IC thread

The first lesson: post formatting. In the heading, writers usually list their allies and their opponents, and you will usually see a list formatted like this:

Allies: @Ally 1 @Ally 2 @Ally 3...
Enemies: @Enemy 1 @Enemy 2 @Enemy 3...
Directly engaging: @Target 1 @Target 2...

The main body of the post usually contains the defense phase first, that is, how you react to enemies firing at you. So make sure you read the enemy posts before determining how much of a hit you're taking. After that, you may then proceed to the attack phase.

At the tail end of the post is the fleet composition, which is usually spoilered at the end of a fleeter's posts. Fleet composition is the cornerstone of what a fleeter does, regardless of what perspective is in use when writing the actual IC posts. Some writers find it more convenient to list each ship's hangar complement separately, while others will prefer to pool all the attack craft into a separate listing of its own. Please pay attention to the squadron count of the attack craft you choose, as well as the hangar capacity of your ships. In actual combat, especially at smaller scales, it is usually more practical to list the number of attack craft rather than to group them into squadrons, since attack craft losses are incurred by the unit.

As for the shield and hull integrity, the two common formats are either percentages, e.g. [S 100%|H 100%] or the ship's measurements, e.g. [S 825|H 825]. Here's one sample format:

Capital ships:

SSV Name 1 (class name; hyperlink them) | Shields: 100% | Hull: 100% | Firing at: N/A
SSV Name 2 (class name; hyperlink them) | Shields: 100% | Hull: 100% | Firing at: N/A
SSV Name 3 (class name; hyperlink them) | Shields: 100% | Hull: 100% | Firing at: N/A

Attack craft:

X [attack craft type 1; hyperlink them]
Y [attack craft type 2; hyperlink them]

The main rules for this thread are the following:
  • 2km maximum per writer

  • No ship larger than 1km

The stipulations are not arbitrary; they are what the Codex use for task forces.
