REBORN EMPIRE
ORINDA, MID RIM
Tp9eI99.png

Orinda. A quiet world in the New Territories which until recently had been under the control of the Dark Empire, whose rule over the planet had only lasted for just a few months before it's collapse. During the final weeks of the Empire's rule on Orinda, the planet had been subject to unrest between the the planet's Imperial-aligned wealthy elite and the working-class various clashes between laborers and local security forces. When the Empire collapsed, the wealthy elite and powerful corporations that had once dominated Orinda soon found themselves isolated and vulnerable with a large uprising against their rule soon happening as the working-class, inspired by the successful Deep Core uprisings against the Empire, took up arms against their supposed oppressors and began to rise up in rebellion.

However the Empire had not completely abandoned Orinda as the workers had thought. Within days, an Imperial Task Force had arrived within the Orinda System with a singular objective in mind : to crush the Orindan Uprising through any means necessary. And this wasn't just any Imperial Task Force, this was the none other then the Red Right Hand, the personal enforcers of the former Lord-Regent Marlon Sularen and some of the best soldiers the Dark Empire had to offer. Lead by Joseph Torson, a long-time Special Forces Operative whose service had spanned the Second Great Hyperspace War and the Core Wars, the Red Right Hand was more then ready to execute Sularen's will and restore order to Orinda once and for all.

Thus as the fires of rebellion engulfed the cities of Orinda, the Commando Destroyers of the Red Right Hand began their atmospheric descent soon launching their compliments of HAAGs filled with Red Right Hand Operatives which began to make their way towards the Capital City of Orinda. The Rebels had their fun, but now it was time for judgement to be delivered to all those who cheered on as the Empire fell apart and for order to be restored for good. All in the name of the Empire.

Empires rise, and Empires fall, such is the cycle of perpetual entropy in the galaxy. From the dust of one empire tends to rise another. A great war machine like The Dark Empire does not simply die, it fractures into tiny pieces. Warlord states lead by tin-pot dictators and squabbling children playing at politics to try and restore their former glory. T'zarna couldn't understand why the hives of these humans couldn't realize they are stronger as one unified hive. She lamented their stubbornness, but moreso she detested the petty squabbles, almost as much as she detested these rebels.

They rebelled against the Hive, rebelled against all that T'zarna knew was right. Though she only truly went off of hand-me-down opinions and the programming instilled in her after leaving her vat. It was as hard to shake as this anger was deep inside her, an anger she would take out on the rabble of this would!

Normally she would be flanked by purge troopers or a commissar from the Risen Empire, but this was technically a secret mission, one about checking the power of another warlord state. The insectoid woman's golden-colored body gleamed in the light of Orinda's sun, making her easy to spot as she walked along the ledge. With this in mind, she adjusted her robes to better cover her body, letting her observe the scene developing below.

The men of the Empire Reborn seemed to be moving in force, surging forth to match with the wall of rebels ahead of them. The rebels shot back, as the troopers moved into position. T'zarna knew what must be done now. She grabbed her lightsaber and dropped herself down from the roof, plunging downward and landing amidst a mass of rebel scum. She let out a howl of fury before swinging her lightsaber with reckless abandon.

One after another she'd cut-down each rebel that got close. Deftly she would block the incoming blaster bolts, before raising a hand to choke the life out of one rebel. Soon enough a machinegun turret was set up, which T'zarna used the force to rip from it's housing and turn on its gunners. As the first wave of fighters ran, T'zarna couldn't help but feel dissatisfied.

"So quickly these rebels run, afraid to die for their hive! A disgrace to see these scum have no pride to spur them on!"

As the first wave of Imperial Gunships began their final approach towards the Capital City, the Rebels began their desperate defense of the city. Having not yet consolidated their control over the planet, they only possessed a few makeshift anti-air batteries to spare as a deterrent against the Empire's aerial forces. Furthermore they had erected various barricades throughout the city in the hopes of hindering the progress of the Red Right Hand and give them an advantage in the heavy street-to-street battles that they were anticipating.

Some of the anti-air batteries were lucky enough to either destroy a Gunship or send one down to the ground although it was still not enough to hinder the Empire's air-to-ground assault as Gunships made landfall throughout the Capital City, unloading waves of Imperial Special Forces operatives who were immediately showered with heavy fire from the defending rebels. But once more, thanks to having complete aerial supremacy other Gunships and Close-Air Support Fighters were able to mow down the entrenched Rebels and clear the path for more Imperials to land.

At one landing zone located near the Rebels chosen military headquarters in the city, Torson's Gunship along with another pair of Gunships made landfall with Torson and a Company of Special Forces Operatives soon pouring out to face heavy fire from the defending rebels who hid behind their barricades. Torson and his men were quick to respond, returning fire upon the Rebels as they slowly advanced making use of some of the buildings and the debris as cover.

However in the midst of the fighting, a single individual dropped in the middle of the Rebel positions wielding a red lightsaber as she cut down dozens of Rebels and even took control of a machine-gun turret with the force and turning it against it's users. Before long, the rebels had abandoned their positions and were in full retreat with the mystery force-user mocking them as they retreated. One Operative approached Torson somewhat confused by the sudden entrance. "Sir, did the Lord-Regent say we'd be assisted by the Sith Ascendant?" he inquired. "No, he didn't. And i have a feeling that isn't member of the Sith Ascendant." Torson responded.

As more Gunships arrived to deploy a trio of Imperial AT-SATs and more Operatives, Torson approached the mystery individual and addressed her. "Thanks for the help there. I'm Captain Joseph Torson, the man in charge of this operation." the Special Forces Operative said as he introduced himself, extending a hand for a handshake. "And you are?"

"T'zarna Khab, formerly of the Empire of the Lost..." Addressing herself as formerly of the hive of her creation stung worse than perhaps it should.

She was still loyal to the Lost, even if they had collapsed under the weight of their own size and corruption, it was still the hive that birthed her, and the one that programmed her. To see it dead was not something her heart could leave without time. As heartless as an inquisitor needed to be, she couldn't shake some of her base human emotions, that damnable sorrow she just couldn't seem to shake.

"I observed your men fighting, they are Imperials yes? What flag do you fight under?" she asked with a somewhat curious buzz in her voice. The armor and weapons of Torson's men were unfamiliar to her, though not completely alien. The designs of their walkers were somehow not to far from those used by the Lost in their patrols.

If these men would have her blade, she would assist them, and if not she would simply observe. In truth clashing with rebels felt right to the inquistor, even if they were hopelessly outmatched by her. She was designed to take on the galaxy's elite, to fight Sith Troopers of the Emperor's legions, not rabble like this. Still, she enjoyed taking up an imperial flag once more and battling the enemies of a familiar hive.

"If you would have my blade Sir, then I would offer it to you. Your men seem to be trustworthy, and if you do not mind, I will meet with this Lord Regent of yours as well. It seems we may have much to discuss. There is another hive I know of, The Risen Empire, perhaps in time there could be cooperation between us."

T'zarna was not a diplomat by trade, but she felt that she made her case well. These men could be a great boon for The Empire in it's infancy, or they could be rivals waiting for a moment to strike. Either way, it would be necessary to find out which one it would be early on.

As Torson stood in front of the mystery individual, she soon identified herself as one T'zarna Khab, who had once served the Empire of the Lost. Torson had heard alot about the Empire of the Lost, an Imperial splinter group formed from the remnants of various Imperial factions that had quickly grown and emerged as a galactic power months before Solipsis's resurrection and the rise of the Dark Empire. He also knew that his superior, the former Lord-Regent Marlon Sularen was once friends with the now deceased Emperor of the EotL, Kilran Velran although they had rarely spoken most likely due to their respective duties to both the Dark Empire and the Empire of the Lost.

Nevertheless, Khab's assistance had allowed Torson's men to clear the first line of rebel defenses which in turn had facilitated their plans to advance on the Rebels military headquarters. Regardless of previous affiliation, they found themselves on the same side on this battlefield and having a force-user helping him would certainly increase their chances of victory. "I used to serve the Dark Empire." Torson said in response to Khab's inquiry. "Now i serve the Empire Reborn." he added.

"The Risen Empire? Can't say i've heard of them before, although the Lord-Regent might be interested in speaking with you. But first i think it would be best if we dealt with these rebels first." Torson said as his men stood around him waiting for his signal to push forward and begin the next phase of their assault. They still had rebels to defeat and a planet to tame and certainly, the Lord-Regent's interest in the former Imperial Inquisitor might increase depending on how this battle went. Thus, Torson gripped his weapon as he waited for a response from Khab already eager to return to the heat of battle.

"So it would see we both serve new hives, I wonder why fate has brought us together," T'zarna mused aloud as she looked over the armored figure, it was unclear what designs the fates had in mind. "I concur, these rebels will not relent until we have crushed their will to fight. And the best way to do that is to overwhelm their defenses."

This was easier said than done, these rebels were deeply entrenched, and veterans of a long war with Imperials. Even with T'zarna's considerable might, it would be difficult to defeat them without a long bloody campaign. Rebels such as these were not the enemies the Inquisitor was designed to hunt. She was, at the end of the day, a Sith hunter. Meant to destabilize enemy ranks by assassinating key individuals such as Sith Lords or their operatives. It would be hard to sow chaos amongst an already chaotic group such as these.

While T'zarna didn't mind a little wanton slaughter, charging straight into rebel lines would probably do little good. She processed this, before realizing the solution. She would lend her blade to Torson and be his second, doing as he willed, at least for the time being. Should he prove incompetent she would consider other options, but so far their goals aligned.

"It is quite fortuitous I found you and your forces. Without them I might have remained lost for quite some time. Now I have cause behind my rage..."

With That T'zarna followed Joseph and his forces down the street, rubble and ruin being the only thing they were met with for quite a while. It was quiet a relief, if not a bit disquieting. Danger wasn't far behind though, as a wily young rebel sat in a position high above the streets. One of the many snipers in the rebel cause. He set up a large particle rifle inside of a ruined building. Every bit of exposed metal on the rifle bound in cloth to diminish glint. He set his sights on T'zarna, he chitinous body drawing attention even with her robes on.

With a few adjustments for atmospheric conditions, the sniper honed in his scope, he'd only get one shot at the inquisitor before she retaliated, so he'd best make it a good one. Without warning a loud "THUUM" split the air as the particle rifle launched its unstable blast towards the Inquisitor. The force reached out to the inquisitor, giving her advanced warning of the incoming shot. She instinctively turned and raised her saber.

However, as the blue bolt collided with her saber, there was a massive explosion, with T'zarna's saber at its epicenter. She was knocked away and flung into a pile of stones nearby. A loud screech filling the air as rage and pain filled the insectoid woman.

This slight would not stand, that T'zarna would make sure of...
