Wakeelmui

~Slow down...Slow down...Slow down.~ The artificial voice rang through the cockpit in amongst various alarms sounding off as a badly refitted Naboo Star Skiff entered the thick atmosphere of Wakeelmui.

"That's what I'm trying to do!" Kay pulled on the controls, trying to bring the nose up in a bid to expose the belly of the craft in parallel to the heavily forrested terrain below which she hoped might help slow her descent. The former monarch-now-tea-merchant was hardly a pilot. In truth she'd barely ever flown anything herself. Such a task was always left to others. It was rare that she needed to even learn to do so much as babysit a ship during hyperspace.

However now Kay wished that she did learn when the opportunities had presented themselves earlier on.

The Skiff shook and shuddered as the atmosphere beat up on the hull's shields, the ship itself nearly glowing with the intense heat brought on by the air friction. "Thrusters!?...which one of you are the thrusters?!" That would slow the ship down, right? During her long flight from Altiria/Anarris on her way to Commenor, Kay had tried to go over the flight manual and get the basic functions of the Skiff memorized so that she didn't need to resort to it all the time. But that didn't go well. The sticky notes that she had placed near the switches and buttons didn't stay on, and so the paper pieces lay scattered on the cockpit floor, no longer able to do their job of letting her know what switch and button did what.

Kay was a flustered mess as she tried to keep the Skiff from turning into a fireball on it's way down. At least that was what she'd imagine would happen. This was the first time that she had ventured out from her isolation in months, and the first time that she had headed towards Commenor in years. Yet she was trying to find a new life for herself. She was trying to find happiness again.

~Pull up...Pull up...Pull up...~ The latest warning caused Kay to look through the transparisteel glass, only to see the forests come into view as the Skiff broke through the clouds.

"I sure hope this works!" Kay slammed her hand down on one of the blinking buttons on the control panel.

OOC: Now you as the reader can vote for what happens next! There's a few options available to choose from. Sort of like the old "Choose Your Own Adventure" stories that some of us read as kids.

I realize that polls can probably only be done once per thread. Possibly I'll be able to edit the question later on, OR make an OOC thread where the voting can take place. I'm still working this out as I had never made a poll before, so there's much to learn.

The thread is open for other characters to jump in, however you don't have to post any differently than you do anywhere else. This new concept is just a test that I'm conducting for myself. Putting the fate of my character in other people's hands for the most part. Thought it could be fun. :)

"What the...?!!" Loud music broke the sounds of alarms and artifical voice sending her warnings. The guitars, drums and vocals echoed loudly throughout the cockpit as though she was right in the front row of some rock concert.

It kinda worked well with the skiff pummelling quickly towards the tree line. Kay grabbed tightly onto the controls and pulled hard towards right, wanting to try to change the direction of her fall at least. She was partly successful, commiting the skiff into a barrell roll that began to level off parallel to the tree line.

If the skiff was a speederbike she'd have much better luck. Flying was a different animal altogether. And the music only drowned out her thinking, causing Kay to use her instincts instead. She moved the controls to the left, working to stabilize the ship so that she'd be upright once more.

Then without even looking, she slammed a hand down on another button.

OOC: I couldn't delete or edit the previous choices in the poll, so I added in some new ones with the post #. It's not a perfect system I kniw, yet I think only one poll can be made per thread.

I may just create a vote thread in the Discussion section soon.

Success!!!

Well, sort of.

As Kay pressed the button, the canopy sprang open and both her and the chair she was sitting in was ejected from the skiff, the music that was still blaring through it's speakers grew quieter as the two parted ways.

It only took a few more seconds before the skiff crashed through the trees, flipping itself over once it's nose hit the ground. It didn't explode, but the skiff did catch fire.

Kay's seat flew upwards a few hundred feet. Once it peaked and began it's fall downward, a parachute was deployed, allowing her a few spare minutes of gentle breezes. "Next time...I'm going to hire someone else to fly...." Her eyes scanned the trees, not only looking for a safe place to land, but for any hostiles as well. These days one couldn't be too careful.

Fortunately a small clearing appeared. The trees still dotted the area, but they were less clustered together, which gave her more room to land.

Touching down was the easy part, for the landing was as smooth as silk. However the large parachute quickly deflated right on top of her, leaving Kay to detangle herself from cords and fabric, thinking back on some of her days as a prisoner. It made her to nearly panic, much like anyone brushing their feet and legs through sea grass and one didn't want to get pulled down.

And that was when she saw looming over her while her back was turned, causing her body to stiffen. The shadow appeared large, much larger than herself. But could it merely be a figment of her imagination? Or her worst nightmare?

What created the shadow?

A: A Wookie.
B: Three Ewoks standing on eachother's shoulders.
C: A cloud covering up the sun.
D: Viribus, her long lost dragon.

"Grrrrrrr....."

Kay felt her back being prodded by something sharp as the growl broke the silence. She drew up her hands and slowly turned around, her eyes widening as she saw what wasn't something scary at all. Instead it was almost comical. The three ewoks stood on eachother's shoulders, making them appear as tall as a Wookie, yet looking more like some fuzzy totem pole. "Hello there..."

"Yub nub!" The ewok on top poked at her with his spear. His fur was darker than the others, and he appeared to be a little smaller too. However the glint in his dark eyes and the way that he bared his teeth made him look fiercer than any teddy bear could.

Kay raised her hands a little higher as she took a step backwards. "I don't mean you any harm. I lost control of my ship and it crashed."

As if on cue, the ewok totem pole became apart with the two on top leaping to the ground. They then formed a tight huddle, whispering and muttering to eachother so that if there was a chance that she could understand them, she wouldn't be able to hear them anyways.

Moments later they surrounded her. The little dark one kept to the middle and started poking her with his spear. "Atwa ninchun...yub nub!" The others pointed to the trees behind her.

"Okay, okay, I'm going." Kay turned around slowly, lowering her hands as she began walking with her ewok escorts. Now what kind of trouble was she getting herself into? It surprised her enough that there were ewoks here. Who knows what else was on this planet? Those questions were sure to be answered soon enough.

Where are the ewoks taking her?

A: To their village in the tree tops.
B: To a shopping mall in the nearest city.
C: To a raft waiting at the side of a river.
D: To the crashsite of her skiff

To Kay's surprise, she wasn't being led to some treetop village, nor was she taken to her ship. Instead she was led towards a building that had seen better days. The crumbling and overgrown remains of what looked like some other aspects of it, resembled some kind of wharehouse district.

Yet it wasn't until she got inside that she saw it for what it was. An old shopping mall....

The smaller ewok poked at her again with the spear, growling his impatience as Kay seemed to be walking too slowly. She quickened her pace, eyes taking in the scenery of vines, shrubs and trees having made there homes among the tile and plaster. Flickers of light signalled that some power was still being generated for the place. But it was hard to say why or how that was accomplished. Everything about the building seemed old, lost in a forgotten time.

Almost lonely.

The trio of ewoks led Kay to a set of double doors. Two of them grabbed the handles and pulled them open while the third kept his spear trained on Kay. The room within looked dark, yet that didn't stop the ewoks for pushing her inside.

One of them reached over to one of the walls and turned on the light. What Kay saw within the room after flinching from the instant brightness caused her to gasp! Apparently the ewoks had taken her to their leader.

Who did Kay see?
