In Rhan
Space Trucker
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
In is a tall, lanky woman with all the signs of having spent most of her life in space - low muscle tone, a tendency to keep close to walls, and a mild awkwardness when traversing uneven terrain. She normally keeps her voice low and her tone measured. Wearing simple, durable clothes most of the time, In is clearly a woman of the working class; she is normally wearing a tool belt or carrying a satchel of parts, typically has oil and coolant stains on her clothes, and has visible callouses along with a couple of small burns and scars from time spent scrapping, welding, or fighting over wrecks. Despite this, most of In's days are spent in a pilot's chair and she's slightly out of shape as a result.
The scent of ozone and flowers clings to In fairly reliably. The former is a result of her normal working environment, the latter her attempts to offset it. In is extremely proud of her thick sheet-white hair, and normally keeps it protected with a wrap or similar cover while working. In normally carries a heavy blaster pistol on her hip, in a safety holster. Like most salvage and freight workers, she tends to wear heavy boots and gloves most of the time.
She will occasionally wear a flower in her hair.
INVENTORY
Besaid-Class Medium Freighter, "Dancer in Green"
Purchased second-hand, lost to pirates, retrieved from a junkyard, and mostly-restored, this freighter has seen better days. The outside looks considerably rougher than it needs to, admittedly - In has done the minimum to restore the Dancer's exterior in the hopes that the pocked and scarred hull will discourage pirates from bothering to raid it again. The interior is noticeably nicer if not nice, due mostly in part to the amount of potted plants, floral beds, and makeshift hydroponics trays In has scattered through the ship to make it look nicer and supplement the eternally sputtering life support. Over the years, she's likely accumulated a small fortune in flowers, herbs, and other small plants from around the Galaxy.
SC-15 Repeating Heavy Blaster Pistol
In won this blaster in a shotgun divorce, and while she's never been especially excited about using it or even really skilled, her having it infuriates her Ex. The folding stock makes it fairly easy for her to handle, but she typically just sprays and prays.
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
In is a subdued, generally calm woman who is used to making her own way through the Galaxy. While she isn't a scoundrel by any means, she is accustomed to having to keep an open mind when it comes to revenue streams - operating a hauler like the Dancer requires a fairly steady income. Most things In does are in service to her desires for personal security or freedom, though she tries to ensure that this is not at the expense of others whenever possible. Moreover, she's a sucker for a sob story and will go out of her way more than most to help others when she can provided it isn't a huge risk to her or her limited resources.
It's a rough Galaxy out there. No sense making it harder on folk.
STRENGTHS
Savvy Spacer: In grew up as part of an exploration fleet, and has spent most of her life traveling hyperlanes. She's full of tricks, keeps a cool head, and has a wide breadth of knowledge. While she primarily deals in salvage and freight, In has been known to dabble in smuggling, courier work, and discrete shuttle services when the pay is good enough - which has given her a broad clientele.
Savage Scrapper: On paper, In is not a threatening fighter. Her hand-to-hand skills are slightly below average and she's not great with a blaster. She nevertheless has a tendency to come out on top more often than not through a combination of grit, luck, and ingenuity - and the more chaotic a situation becomes, the more things seem to work out in her favor. While In still loses to most trained fighters, In's ability to navigate a crisis situation and come out on top is nevertheless remarkable.
WEAKNESSES
Wandering Wayfinder: In is rootless and essentially has been for her entire life. While she has a few friendly clients and a couple of associates spread across the Mara Corridor, the fact remains that In is on her own with all of her worldly possessions in a single broken-down freighter. If anything were to happen to her or her ship she'd likely never recover - and nobody would care. She's become more and more aware of this recently, and her desire to foster good relationships and build a support network can be used to manipulate her.
Weary Wallet: Not only does In work in a field with already thin margins, not only is her ship expensive and in need of constant repair, she's also extremely bad with money. In tends to spend what little surplus she has on immediate indulgences or to grow her plant collection. As a result, she is rarely in a position to turn down work and her incessant need to pay bills has consistently led her into trouble.
HISTORY
In's parents were part of a deep space exploration vessel, Seeker, commissioned by Silk Holdings long ago to map the unknown. After several mechanical setbacks, however, a schism formed in the crew. This divide led to a mutiny that quickly became bloody. The survivors, fearing prosecution, took their expensive exploration vessel to the Outer Rim. In herself was very young when the crew of the Seeker joined up with the Outer Rim Coalition. Though they'd been mostly botanists, cartographers, and linguists when they'd mutinied, the crew of the Seeker adapted quickly to the merchant-pirate life. As In grew up, most of the original crew either died in conflict or moved along to other crews once the ship itself became so damaged that it was sold for scrap. This included her parents; one fell in a pirate raid before In had come of age, and the other left in the night shortly thereafter.
In moved coreward, working as a pilot on a small Republic hauling vessel - standard corporate work. She eventually saved up enough over years to purchase a second hand ship with a combination of her wages and dubiously legal salvage work, which she renamed from Quentin's Despair to Dancer in Green, possibly jinxing the ship in the process. When her commercial license to operate in Republic space lapsed, In took one look at the bureaucracy and costs required to renew it and opted to explore her alternatives in less regulated space. Since then, she's wandered the hyperlanes taking work when she can find it and avoiding the many armed conflicts, pirate bands. skirmishes, and wars that plague the galaxy.

"It's an old picture. Yes, officer - I'm aware it is expired."
