OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a generic, lore-friendly unit for Bastion Holdings to sell and for other Imperials to easily use as needed without having to do their own writeups.
  • Image Credit: Here you go
  • Role: Standard generic infantry, suitable for garrison duty and light infantry roles.
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: Bastion Holdings.
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: Imperial Army Troopers.
  • Affiliation: Although trained and recruited by Bastion Holdings, they are loyal to whoever holds their contract, namely Imperials and Imperial-esque/flavored factions characters and npcs.
  • Classification: Infantry.
  • Description: Equipped in a variety of environment appropriate armor that can include capes, breathing masks and goggles and with military grade, if only of mediocre quality weapons, the Imperial Standard Trooper is your common light infantry soldier, having completed basic and sometimes even specialized training in various areas. Often seen guarding checkpoints, manning garrisons and the combat line, and a variety of other locations deemed important enough to secure but not important enough to send more elite soldiers.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
Strengths:
  • Well-Rounded: Your Imperial Standard Infantryman, especially in conjunction with his allies, will be able to handle essentially every threat that might be thrown at an infantry unit in all but the most extreme conditions and environments. They are equipped with a wide variety of weaponry and equipment to suitably handle any role given to them and used properly will perform to expected standards.
  • Decent training: Although comparatively basic, they are trained soldiers and act, and shoot, like them. In the era of Imperial decline and chaos, Bastion Holdings maintains a minimum required standard for the IST that rivals or exceeds supposed "stormtroopers" deployed by various petty warlords across the galaxy. They can handle most standard threats and run roughshod over your typical pirate, militia, or criminal gang member if used properly.
Weaknesses:
  • Common Soldiery: Well decent relatively cheap to field, they are still regular soldiers and are not on the level of elite troops, let alone Jedi. They are best used in large numbers to make up for their own individual mediocrity.
  • High Offensive Casualty Rates Without Support: They are ultimately just light infantry, and when not supported by other elements of the military including aerial assets, armored assets, and heavier infantry, they will take high casualties on the offense against similarly trained soldiers. They are thus best used in mass, and it is recommended that one have at least a 3:1 attacker to defender ratio if using them as such, if not more.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The history of the Imperial Standard soldier traces its way all the way back to the days of the Galactic Empire. Stormtroopers, while intimidating and skilled, cannot be deployed everywhere. Someone needs to be the meat in larger offensives, garrison worlds, deal with most pirates, criminals, and riots, and generally maintain order in Imperial sectors. Many a high-ranking officer or hero started out in the infantry, and if one has initiative and competence, the sky is often the limit. For someone coming from a poor background, service as an IST can provide stability, comradeship, job training, a sense of purpose, and perhaps most importantly free food, medical care, and credits.

These current soldiers have been trained and equipped to a decent standard by Bastion Holdings in an attempt to combat rapidly declining troop quality across Imperial space in the aftermath of the great galactic turmoil leading up to 900 ABY. They are then transferred or contracted to various Imperial officials and factions across the galaxy, a welcome relief as maintaining one's own training programs are expensive in an era when credits are not cheap or easily acquired and order needs to be maintained against the chaos and degeneracy engulfing the rest of the galaxy.
