IMPERIAL CONFEDERATION

Since the inception of the Imperial Confederation, Marlon Sularen had made full use of his position as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces to create a stable foundation for the Imperial faction, so that it could overcome all obstacles and endure the ever changing winds of galactic politics. He had begun the process of organizing the Imperial Fleet and the Special Forces into effective fighting forces, while also working to also organize new commissions such as COMFIC that would soon oversee the economic, industrial and logistical sectors of the Confederation. Progress was slow, but there was still progress regardless. However a new rising power in the galaxy threatened to undermine Sularen's work and the Confederation as a whole and it was vital to ensure that it could not undermine the Confederation in any capacity.

As such Sularen found himself in a conference room within the recently completed Imperial Center for Military Operations on Cholganna with Exarch Karl von Strauss and Grand Moff Selrick Lorcas in attendance, both men having been summoned by the Imperial Supreme Commander. There were no pleasantries or greetings, only silence as both the Exarch and the Grand Moff understood the severity of the matter and the potential impact it could have on the longevity of the Imperial Confederation. They had a limited window to act, and how they chose to act should shape the future of the Confederation moving forward.

As both the Exarch and the Grand Moff waited for Sularen to begin, the Supreme Commander simply took out a remote which then triggered an audio recording of a message that had been transmitted across the galaxy mere days ago, which both men had most likely heard by now. Once the message concluded, Sularen finally moved forth to speak up. "I'm sure by now you both know why i requested this meeting. So I'll get straight to the point." Sularen began. "We are facing a crisis." he boldly proclaimed, highlighting the severity of the matter at hand. "This so-called Galactic Empire led by the Sith Lord Solipsis has risen in the Core Worlds, directly undermining our attempts at Imperial reunification by establishing a rival Imperial faction that is solely driven by a thirst for conquest and destruction." he continued.

"Already my intel has suggested that many prominent Imperials formerly active within the Dark Empire, who did not join the Empire Reborn have joined the Galactic Empire and even worse that it is this very Imperial faction that was responsible for the devastating attacks on Cademimu V and Ord Cantrell. The price of inaction will be the erosion of our legitimacy as the galaxy's true source of Imperial power and thus we must act quickly but with great precision as the smallest misstep will send us spiraling downwards into total decline." Sularen explained. "So let's us begin and find solutions to this major problem that we face." The Supreme Commander then leaned forward in his chair, his hands clasped on his desk as he yielded the floor for either the Exarch or the Grand Moff to speak up.

"Do not refer to them as a rival Imperial faction," Selrik said before Sully could go further. "They are not Imperial and should not be given the satisfaction of us or anyone else acknowledging them as such. They are a darkside cult, nothing more."

Yes, he had also read the briefing from the intelligence crowd about this new threat. Largely a threat to the Alliance, but as they were masquerading as an imperial organization, they could undermine everything that the Confederation stood for. Not only that, but people who were actually Imperial in nature could make the mistake of falling in with them instead of continuing to join the Confederation, which was the true heir to the ways of the Empire, having rejected its ultimate folly: leadership by egotistical Sith.

"This cult appears to have formed itself in the heart of Alliance space. I believe that will make them an Alliance problem, much as the Dark Empire was. The obsession of some with controlling the center of the galaxy is well documented, historically, and it appears this new reformation is a part of that mentality as well. Perhaps we offer to assist in their destruction during the inevitable war, if only for the enjoyment of taking part in crushing them under our heel.

"But they should not be our focus, just as they weren't our focus before they made themselves known. Order must be maintained and we cannot maintain it if we jump at each potential enemy and spread ourselves too thinly. Our forces must remain concentrated on the task at hand, which is the growth of the Empire through organic means. We should also focus on the enemy at our doorstep, and prepare ourselves to deal with them as we know we must. They will not be content to allow us to grow and surround them, not with their own claim to empire threatened by our existence."

He didn't have qualms with destroying either, for obvious reasons, but he wasn't going to let them divide themselves because of a desire to crush those who wanted to make them look bad.

Karl had chosen to remain silent when the message ended, and chose to be silent still during the Grand Moff's retort. He remained unmoving, seated, with his fingers interlocked and eyes closed. When he opened his eyes, his sharp, surgical pupils glanced down at a datapad with the transcription of the Grand Vizier's message that was sent through the galaxy. It had flame, it had promise; it was a threat.

While he was not involved in galactic politics during Solipsis' reign over the Dark Empire, he recognized their certainty interspersed with cloaked entropy. He knew what could possibly happen if good men underestimated them for too long.

When the Grand Moff finished, Karl laid his hands flat on the table. When he spoke, it was with a tone of surgical precision.

"The message is not novel," he said. "It is a refined script rewritten by every despot in the galaxy who mistook devastation for discipline; conquest for cohesion."

Without lifting his head, he locked eyes briefly with Sularen, then Lorcas. "And yet, there is genius in its simplicity. Not an ideological genius nor strategic. But, psychological. It begs not for understanding, only obedience. The stick or the carrot, and Solipsis is holding both."

He unclasped his hands and motioned to both the Supreme Commander and the Grand Moff, "Which brings us to my own thoughts on the matter. The problem is not that the 'Galactic Empire' exists. The problem is that the people, the galaxy at large might believe that it does. The galaxy doesn't pass legitimacy via structure or history. It measures it with spectacle and fear. Our Confederation, which is disciplined, procedural, and structural, must remember that these times aren't, and have not for a while now, aren't shaped by quiet wisdom. They've been shaped by noise."

He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table, his hands set into a ball before him. He audibly breathed in, allowing him to think with better clarity and to say his piece without fault.

"The Grand Moff is correct. We cannot spread ourselves too thin, but to dismiss them as a cult, however accurate, is to ignore the real danger of their rise: perception. If people mistake a bonfire for a sunrise, then our skies will be the ones that darken. We cannot afford to strike blindly. But we can't let the illusion grow roots either."

Karl withdrew his hands and picked up the datapad in front of him. His fingers moved across the surface with a fluid precision that misrepresented his age. Decades of command had not dulled his dexterity, nor his mind. With practiced momentum, he swept through layers of security permissions and encrypted ledgers, the faint flicker of authorization glyphs dancing across his eyes. With a final upward motion, he initiated the projection system. A subtle hum filled the room as a holomap unfolded in midair before them; a slow, deliberate cascade of stars and systems rendered in perfect clarity. Dozens of planets bloomed into view, each marked with annotations and glowing with different hues. Some bore a scarlet overlay showing their previous ownership under the Dark Empire; others were overlayed with gold showing their previous alignment with the Lost-Imperials. More were marked in simple grey; they were systems of historic importance: formerly loyal to Imperial rule but in recent history unaligned with any larger power.

"These are systems previously held by the DE and the EOTL. Using COMECI as the springboard and assisted by the military, we should begin to reinforce our presence on these planets. We quietly and effectively deploy aid, infrastructure, and security. Let their flame roar. We will answer with stone and state. Everything we do must be done with precision and confidence. Now, do either of you have any ideas on how to prepare or to deal with the threat on the horizon?"

It was interesting to hear what both the Grand Moff and the Exarch had to say on the issue of the Galactic Empire. The Grand Moff sought to leave the Galactic Alliance to handle the issue of the Galactic Empire considering Solipsis's obsession with defeating the Alliance as his prior two campaigns had been launched against them. Then there was the Exarch who proposed to counter the growing threat of the Galactic Empire by reinforcing the Imperial Confederation's presence on former Dark-Imperial and Lost-Imperial worlds.

Given his past experience in the Dark Empire, Sularen knew well that the galaxy had no room for two Imperial regimes. As long as Imperials across the galaxy remained divided, there could never be a proper resurgence of Imperial power in the galaxy. If the Imperial Confederation was to survive in the long-term, then any other faction that sought to claim the Mandate of Imperialism had to be cast down through any means necessary. The longer two competing Imperial factions remained on the galactic stage, the power and influence of Imperialism would only continue to fade away.

However, both the Grand Moff and the Exarch delivered compelling arguments. Moving against the Galactic Empire now would stretch the Confederation thin and the Sith Order's presence within the Thaudon Star Cluster represented a more immediate threat. Furthermore the Exarch's suggestion of establishing a presence on former Imperial worlds could potentially rally more Imperials to the Confederation's cause and isolate the Galactic Empire within the Imperial sphere.

Sularen would concede on the matter of taking direct action against the Galactic Empire for the time being, although there were other mean to dismantle hostile factions without the need of conventional warfare. Plus, it seemed that both the Grand Moff and the Exarch were willing to deal with the Sith Order first before turning their attention around to face the Galactic Empire, if the Galactic Alliance hadn't crushed them by the time the Confederation was done with the Sith Order.

"The Imperial Navy is almost at a state of full readiness for an offensive campaign, the Imperator Corps and the Defense Force however will require more time to prepare to take action against the Sith Order. But i do think i have a sufficient force to make preliminary moves preceding any major offensive. Furthermore i intend to re-activate Ephraim Labors, my mercenary contracting company in order to enlist the aid of Bounty Hunters to assist us in handling the threat of the Sith Order although i will require more credits to be diverted to the Armed Forces Black Fund for such an endeavor" Sularen said to the Exarch.

"As for how we will move against the Sith Order, i believe that we should begin our operations with a series of precise surgical strikes using our Special Forces and the Inquisitorius that would precede any major offensive from the bulk of our Armed Forces into the Thaudon Star Cluster. I have seen how small Jedi strike teams have managed to do serious damage to both the Brotherhood of the Maw and the Dark Empire when it came to accomplishing specific objectives. Adopting their tactics and refining them for Imperial usage against the Sith will most likely increase our chances at success in future military operations."
