Like OutlawTech Illicit Electronics isn't a single enterprise but a ghost network of codebreaker specialists and data experts loyal to the Outer Rim Intelligence Operations Network (ORION). From a classified hub on Exocron Alliance agents direct these slicer hives to manufacture spyware and other useful tech gadgets for the Revolution.
There is a proud tradition of outer rim hacktivism so while equipment produced by Illicit is often nowhere near as sleek or refined as Core World products or elite government intelligence agencies' there is no shortage of genius there too. OPA codebreakers often accomplish the impossible with barely any resources. Out here the tech world is a cutthroat place and only the truly gifted survive.
RATIONALE
Alvar Hanso is one of Deacon's oldest and longest lasting cover identities, a frontier business tycoon. Hanso is supposedly a mysterious capital investor with interests in each of OutlawTech's various holdings. Often he is an anonymous backer and also holds stake in dozens of irrelevant projects to confuse any potential digital trace.
