The road to darkness is a journey, not a light switch. -Lex Luthor

Location: Naboo - Headquarters of the Obsidian Knights

The shuttle touched down on the beautiful world of Naboo and Katarine felt her heart leap. Over eight hundred years ago this had once been her home. The Jedi Brotherhood had resided here. She had taught students here. She had owned a home with her husband here. The centuries had taken everything from her but it had failed to take the beauty from Naboo. Even from the ship she could tell the planet still thrived on unique architecture, water, and beauty.

She thanked the pilot and left the hanger of Theed, a city she knew well, or at least she used to know it well. She navigated the streets towards her destination, pausing for a moment to catch her breath and lead against a large stone building. The sithspawn that had attacked her on Coruscant was indeed poisonous and Katarine was still suffering from the infection. She pushed her long brown hair out of her eyes and set off again, ignoring the stares she received because she was wearing clothes that were over eight hundred years old and completely out of style. The tight black flight pants, white tank top, leather jacket, and boots had served her well all these centuries so she felt no desire to change them. Besides she still didn't know what today's fashions were.

When she finally arrived at the home of the Obsidian Knights she was greeted and left in a sort of waiting room. They knew she was coming and that she was a Jedi interested to hear more about their beliefs. Hopefully the meeting would prove fruitful. Katarine was nervous. The Jedi doctrine was so ingrained in her that it almost felt taboo to be learning about other ways.

But things were changing....

Kat was changing....

Even if the wars the galaxy was fighting didn't change.....

She had to change.

Taiia was walking through the halls with Vyse the young man had always been kind to Taiia ever since they had first met and she counted him as a friend even if they were years apart in age and he was not directly her squire. They engaged in simple small talk as another squire came up to inform Taiia that her guest had arrived. She glanced over to Vyse. "Shall we go see to our guest?" she gave a quick smile and headed toward the waiting area.

The halls were wide and grand as would be expected of Nabooian architecture. There were plenty of gold accents and blues throughout the building, it was also open to the outside allowing both the sun and the wind to enter freely. The picture that outsiders painted of the Knights Obsidian would have one believe that they were dark and evil but everything about the building told a different story.

Taiia entered the room and at once Katarine would learn the difference between what was told, and what was observed. Before Katarine stood a woman much her same age were she, not several centuries removed. Perhaps the redhead would even be a few years her senior. Next to her was a young man who radiated the dark side but the woman that walked ahead of him was different. Taiia's presence in the force would be a paradox to the Jedi, there was light but also darkness yet neither seemed to pull at her at any time as if repelled by an unseen force within her core being.

The redhead stepped forward and bowed respectfully to the woman, oddly dressed yet for all intent and purpose a Jedi that was clear. "Good afternoon, I hope your trip was uneventful. I am Taiia Mataan, one of the Obsidian Lords here. A master to equate it to the Jedi Order, Welcome. This young man is Vyse one of our squires of the Thorn Chapter. I thought his presence could be a good example of how dark and light work together here." she gave a warm and inviting smile to Katarine and extended a hand to her. Taiia turned her eyes back to Vyse a gentle nod to him if he would like to speak up and introduce himself.

Two of the Obsidian Knights entered the room and Katarine stood up to greet them. At once she could feel their Force presence and how odd they were compared to what she was used to. Though she felt the darkside she didn't feel anger and hatred. This was most interesting to Katarine. Her goal recently was to learn all she could about this balance.

"Hello. Thank you so much for having me. I really am interested in learning how the light and dark work together here. The Jedi teach that the darkside corrupts. They say it pollutes the mind. But... if you are able to work together there must be something the Jedi are missing?"

She felt odd getting right down to business but the question was burning inside her. Well the question and the poison. That was part of the reason she was searching for answers. She could feel the infection in her veins. It was changing her.

But change might be good.

Vyse smiled, sipping his tea as he soaked in the sunshine of Naboo, normally so busy training or away he rarely got to enjoy the sights. Though more so he enjoyed the company of his superior Taiia, she being one few he had come to know here and was a wondrous gift for them to spend a few moments together. Nodding as she suggested they go see their now on coming guest. “Of course then let’s not keep them waiting.” He said with a smirk as he followed, allowing her to take the lead as she was his signor in the order.

Their guest saw a strong male, physically fit and cape around his shoulders as he had almost aristocratic features, more importantly clearly the darkside was about him yet there was not the blackest pit but a man with a charming smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you miss." He said in a confident tone, Taiia already having done most of the introductions out of the way. But also as this was a subject he was interested in himself. So focused on the legends of the past he never quite was able to grasp without the guide of a master how the sides of the force could coexisted, it was something he took for granted and thus he gave his focus to Taiia's answer.
