- Description: The mill is a large structure sitting at the edge of the village of Ikorra. A central silo rises from the center of the main building, this silo is fed grain by an augur that is driven by a water wheel, grain from this silo is sent directly to a milling machine. Eight smaller silos are found on the back half of the building, these are more than half buried in the ground and are gravity fed from the top. These smaller silos have augurs that are powered by solar or wind energy. Grain from these silos are sent through pipes to nearby landing pads to waiting freighter ships. Grain milled into flour is stored in warehouses that flank either side of the structure. From here, bags of flour and taken to waiting freighters. The main entrance leads into a small office and reception area.
- The main silo: The main silo of the structure is 20 meters in diameter and 75 meters in height. A walkway with an awning encircles the top so workers can watch grain unloading from the large augur into the silo itself. Grain from this silo is transferred to the milling room where it's turned into flour. Unlike the other silos, this one isn't connected to the nearby landing pads.
- Water wheels: A fast flowing man made stream runs through the central part of the structure. This stream turns three large water wheels and four small ones, this in turn powers the augurs that transfer grain throughout the facility.
SECURITY
Low: The majority of the mills security comes from the locals or from military vessels patrolling the system. Since the founding of Ikorra, there has been very little need for defenses, as the system has very little in the way of threats from pirates and other dangers.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Thalia is a unique planet, as in its climate allows for year round crop growth. The rare visitor or freighter captain to this small Arsenian colony will till you about the acres and acres of Marsh Oona in various stages of growth. This wasn't always the case. When the first colonists from Arsenae arrived, they built homes and produced enough food for themselves. However time and Thalia's unique climate where on their side. Soon the amount of grain they produced began to outweigh their needs, which lead to a storage and logistics problem. To solve this, the Arsenians built the Ikorra grain mill and silos to store and process the grains they grew. Large stones and duracrete formed the foundation, wood and bamboo from the nearby mountains built the frame and structure. Steel pipes and augurs connected all the silos and lead to the landing pads. Six heavy durasteel milling stones arrived from Arsenae to be used to process grain into floor. All of this is run by solar, wind or water energy.
Running year round, the mill has become a center point for the villages off world trade. Most of the grain they produce is either processed into flour or sold in bulk. This continuous growth of grain and production of flour has made Thalia an important agricultural world for the Arsenians and worlds they trade with. Making the mill the largest source of income for the village of Ikorra.
