Ikaros II-type Solarized Plasma Disruptor
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To modernize the Ikaros-type solarized plasma disruptor as a precision anti-shield weapon specialized for countering molecular, ray-particle hybrid, and Force-augmented shield systems in modern naval warfare. Intended for use in Commonwealth doctrine and mounted across support and mainline capital vessels.

- Modularity: Yes (Supports optional plasma-tagging capacitors and alternate pulse-gas cartridges for tuning output)
- Production: Minor
- Material: Durasteel casings, Boreas crystal lensing, Synthek-infused coil pack, Phase-channel plasma emitters, Quantum feedback regulators, Disruptor harmonics shelling, Reactor-fed pulse-gas core
- Classification: Disruptor / Plasma Hybrid (Directed Energy)
- Size: Very Large
- Weight: Very Heavy
- Ammunition Type: Reactor-fed; enriched pulse-gas cores (replaceable)
- Ammunition Capacity: Very Large
- Effective Range: Battlefield
- Rate of Fire: Low (Pulse); Average (Sustained Beam Mode)
- Damage Output: High (vs shields); Low (vs armor/hulls)
- Recoil: None
- Solarized Plasma Core: Fires photonic plasma shaped to mimic solar flare behavior — destabilizes energy-matter cohesion
- Staggered Disruptor Shelling: Encases each bolt in anti-cohesion harmonics tuned to molecular shields
- Pulse-Gas Cycling: Selectable firing modes allow tuned output for hybrid shields, Force barriers, or layered defenses
- Radiant Overload Reservoir: Stores excess heat and channels it into the next pulse; bolts become stronger the longer the weapon is active
- Force-Harmonic Feedback Spike: Introduces solar “discord” wavelengths — disrupts Force-attuned shielding
- Residual Plasma Tagging: Ionizes shield matrix on contact, delaying regeneration
- Counter to Molecular & Hybrid Shielding: Designed to break cohesion rather than overwhelm with power
- Adaptable Fire Modes: Can shift from pulse to sustained disruption based on tactical need
- Safe for First-Strike: Does not rely on physical impact — ideal for opening salvos
- Force Barrier Disruption: Harmonic pulses destabilize barriers influenced by the Force (by aiming to destabilize systems that rely on Force harmony to maintain their structure)..
- Overdrive Efficiency: Becomes more powerful during extended engagements
- Ineffective Against Hulls: Has almost no effect on unshielded or armored targets
- High Power Draw: Sustained use may interfere with other systems or reactors
- Sensor Visible: Flares bright on most sensor suites — cannot be used stealthily
- Force Signature: May attract attention from Jedi or Force-sensitives due to harmonic profile
The Ikaros II, often nicknamed the Waxwing, is the Commonwealth’s answer to a galaxy dominated by molecular shielding and hybridized defense systems. Where conventional weapons fail against layered energy matrices, the Ikaros II bypasses brute force entirely. It operates by disassembling shields at the atomic level—through directed photonic disruption, harmonic destabilization, and plasma-phase chaos.
Using solarized plasma bolts wrapped in carefully engineered disruptor harmonics, the Ikaros II targets not the shield’s strength, but its structure. Bolts destabilize cohesion fields, disrupt ray-particle fusions, and confuse shield auto-alignment systems. Its pulse-gas cycling system allows for real-time adaptation against different barrier types, and a radiant overload reservoir enhances bolts over time, rewarding sustained targeting.
While useless against unshielded hulls and too energy-intensive for prolonged use on smaller ships, the Ikaros II is a fleet support weapon that opens doors others slam shut. It is most effective when paired with mass driver barrages, plasma torpedoes, or kinetic-kill weapons.
Commonwealth tacticians refer to Ikaros strikes as “solar surgical strikes”. In doctrine, it’s often the first weapon fired—and the reason the rest of the salvo lands at all.
“They thought their shields made them untouchable. We showed them what a star flare does to illusions.”
