Culture: They live in small packs of three to five except during mating season where they can be found in larger pack as the compete for mates. The males do most of the hunting during mating season while the females guard the cubs. They have a strict pecking order, with the alpha male getting the right to most kills and having the largest range of options for a mate. Other males may challenge the alpha, usually beginning with a bite on the ear. After this initial bite the two ijunkais will fight, often to the death. The winner either remains alpha or becomes the new alpha. Lone Ijunkais are rare and are usually the result of them being thrown out of a pack due to illness or deformity.
Technology level: No tech whatsoever
General behavior: Pack mentality, hunt in small groups. A Ijunkai may be chased out of the pack if it becomes sick, crippled, or is born with some kind of deformity. Ijunkais are extremely protective of their young and their territory. Usually put their tail between their legs when afraid, growl or snarl when angered, and bark or yelp when startled.
History: The Ijunkai is a naturally occurring species on Deleritas, evolving from an ancient wolf-like ancestor. Some of them have been domesticated to protect farms and even be kept as pets by some of the more daring inhabitants of the planet. They still exist in abundance in the wild even though a small amount were domesticated. The domesticated ijunkais tend to be slightly smaller than their wild counterparts. The more colorful variation exists in the lands of Vesania, while the darker colored variants are found in Tesania. They are sometimes hunted for their fur, which is very soft and has been found to make a rather nice coat.
