Description:
The Sparrow Hawk-class Modular Shuttle is the premier support craft of the Imperium, equally capable of dropping off squads of troops in hot combat zones or ferrying Imperial dignitaries in style on long journeys. The secret to the crafts success is its modular systems.
The most obvious modular feature are the two ball turreted weapons hardpoints on either side of the cockpit. Typically these hardpoints are fitted out with a pair of laser cannons, mimicking the earlier Lambda-class Shuttle from which it is partially derived from, to defend itself against enemy starfighters. However, these weapons can easily be changed out by technicians to suit other mission profiles. It's not unheard of to see Sparrow Hawk fitted out with tractor beam projectors and ion cannons to act as patrol vessels or to see Sparrow Hawk fitted out with flame projectors and grenade launchers to provide close ground support to Imperium ground soldiers.
The Sparrow Hawk cargo hold is similarly modular, much like the Sentinel-class Landing Shuttle and Lambda-class Shuttle before it, by using a bracket system embedded in the floor for various attachments. For typical ship to shore transport, the Sparrow Hawk hold is occupied by four rows of seats which allow it to carry 40 passengers and their heavy equipment. Alternatively, the Sparrow Hawk can also carry several landspeeder sized ground vehicles or lesser amounts of troops in heavy power armor. This is fairly cramped, and for long travels, many of the seats can be removed for additional creature comforts such as an autochef, refresher, bunks, and so forth at a greatly reduced passenger capability. The brackets can also be used to secure various cargo containers, allowing the Sparrow Hawk to carry 150 metric tons of cargo.
