She climb a couple of steps; she carried her weight before throwing herself to the ground on the very last.

Release

She let it go, tilting her head back and losing momentary control. To have a nightmare was different from actually encountering it; and she felt completely drained. Shutting her eyes, she applied just enough tension for her cheekbones to lengthen and protrude from the depths of her face. Really she'd scared herself...

She'd been fighting the poison deep down on her own, sapping her own strength constantly to hold back the taint and it was starting to take a toll on her. The events to transpire on Commenor nearly showed her just the surface of how far it could take her.

She tightened her core, pulling herself forward before she'd rest her head on the edges of her knees.

Despite how weak she was constantly sense, she'd continue in her pursuit for purpose; and she was slowly getting there...she hoped.

Nonetheless, all she could do was keep herself moving, because if she stopped....

A beat

She fell into the empyrean, but it only took her a second for her eyes to pry open again. She forced all of that uneasiness down...fueling her attempt at propelling herself up.

There were many things that Arcanus had wanted to say about the world of Eira Pechal, and the Jedi Praxeum that adorned its tranquil surface. Of all the thoughts that crossed his mind, none were more rife with admiration than in how the Jedi had laid the roots of their foundations with the supplies provided by the planet herself. It held a unique, and traditional aura about itself; One that heralded back to their Order’s theological roots on sacred Tython.

The stunted Epicanthix could respect that, immensely.

Not only had they chosen to eschew the technological terrors constructed by the false inheritors, but they built this place with natural, and local materials; making sure that nothing had gone to waste. Eira Pechal provided everything they needed, and the Jedi within their walls would see to sustaining it all in the days to come.

Pushing aside the thoughts that drove him to this world, and of the beauty it held, Arcanus tore his gaze away as he felt a familiar presence nearby. It was that of Romi Jade, but it was admittedly weaker than what he remembered. The man had almost mistaken her vibrant aura for someone else who sought to make use of the training grounds, just as they were slated to do so.

Nevertheless, when he had spotted her - she seemed to be on the verge of exhaustion, or winded; He couldn’t tell. Nor did the Jedi wish to make things awkward by imposing a plethora of questions on her, when he was supposed to be here to help take her mind off things and hone their martial prowess together. The man would keep true to his word, and only when she had told him enough; would he show his concern and seek to help her in any way that he could.

Until that moment had come to pass, Arcanus’ feet shifted into his combative stance - where one foot was braced against the other to form an organic ‘L’ shape atop the sands, and one of his hands was held loosely beside him; whilst the other rested atop the small of his back.

“Hello there, Lady Jade,” The stunted Epicanthix said with a warming smile. “It’s a pleasure to see you again. I hope you are doing well.”

After she had responded in kind or kept her silence - Arcanus’ smile dwindled slightly as his hand drifted towards his sabre. Unhooking it from his belt, and holding the cylindrical weapon loosely within his grasp…

He sighed, heavily.

As the exhalation eclipsed his lips, his thumb shot forward and tapped the activation stud; giving birth to the brilliant beam of plasmatic sapphire with the all too familiar *Snap-Hiss* of ignition. It felt heavy in his grasp, and a part of him wished to extinguish the blade; to hide it’s radiance from the world so that the shame the blade bore wouldn’t steal his thoughts. No, the Jedi told himself as he fought to steel his nerves.

Not this time.

Tightening his grip on the weapon and toggling the weapon’s setting to match that of a training sabre - Arcanus turned his blue eyes towards his sparring partner and nodded in earnest.

“I am ready when you are.”

"It's always good to see you Arcanus." She mused, walking to meet him. "Glad I was able to catch up with you before something else came up..." Her smile began to peak, eventually declining into but a smirk. She stopped somewhere in the middle, shifting her weight towards her right leg, she swayed in her stance a bit.

Snap-hiss!

Almost simultaneously, she trailed her upper thigh before crossing over and snatching the weapon from her belt. She called forth the brilliant blade, one she'd come to be characterized by. The subtle hum of the weapons in tandem drowned out her sharp intake of breath, with the iridescent glow encouraging the color in her eyes.

Despite what she felt, she held another sort of light, one that matched the feral determination on her face. She soon shied away from the weakness akin to her debilitating illness. Lacing her hands around the hilt, she lurched forward as she fell into her stance. She stood and stared for a long while, foregoing blinking; it was a test of her will before the inevitable battle.

Arcanus Sunstrider said:
“I am ready when you are.”

She launched herself at him, hair flying, raising her lightsaber and yielding control to the Force. She stepped into the dance at the whirl of her blade across what few feet separated them. The woman was keen on delivering two quick, testing jabs. Shifting her weight to the balls of her feet, gaining balance in preparation for any coming attack.

When the Lady Jade had activated her lightsabre, Arcanus felt a shimmer of disappointment flicker through the conscious miasma of his mind. The plasmatic blade was the vibrant hue of crimson; a colour most commonly seen amongst the ranks of the Sith. He was certain she had her reasons for choosing such a colour for her blade, but there was a part of him that wished she had chosen another - something that was more in line with their collective teachings. However, he wasn’t really one to judge how, or what his religious kin was taught.

There were many variations on the Jedi code and their myriad tenets - which made for some interesting gatherings whenever one coven sought out another. It would make for an interesting conversation one of these days, he mused. One that would allow for him to understand why she had chosen that peculiar shade or the reasoning behind the collection of crystals resonating within her Sabre’s hilt. Perhaps, if the man felt confident enough in his blade-work, maybe he would risk the chance of distraction.

But, Arcanus knew better than to risk it, even if this was a friendly bout. He was the furthest thing from confident in his skills, despite his claims of being a weapons master, and today was the first day in years that he followed through with igniting his blade.

With his thoughts and focus snapping back into reality, Romi had made the first move - launching herself forwards to close the gap between them. Her crimson sabre crackled with thunderous vitality as it soared through the air; coming ever closer to his person. Judging from the way she moved, and how she sought to land the first blow, it was evident that she desired to test his defences and his prowess thereafter. His stance shifted in response to her sudden movement; with his boots sliding across the surface of the sand, and allowing for his sapphire blade to swing forward.

The movement of his sabre had given him an advantage of sorts; One that would allow him to easily twist his wrist in either direction and send his blade careening one way or another. He kept his other hand free, eschewing a two-handed grip on his weapon to allow for greater flexibility as the bout soldiered on. These swift alterations to his form allowed for the Jedi to swat away her probing strikes with relative ease, but wouldn’t allow for him to retaliate; Not as easily as he would’ve liked.

Even with the maneuverability granted to him by his adoption of the Fast style, and his disciplined agility, there was nothing he could do but defend himself against whatever strikes Romi had decided to throw his way. That, in the end, was fine by him. He never liked being on the offensive anyway.

Romi sleighted her blade for a collision course against Arcanus', with less tentative attacks as she went forward. He hadn't retaliated just yet...and since she was on the offensive she whirled after him as her own smile began to falter. She swung her scarlet blade to batter Sunstrider's blade aside, but got no spark and no hiss from a collision of the blades when at the last minute she leaned back from it, then quickly changed directions.

Following through with the momentum of her mighty swing, she spun her around counterclockwise, and as she completed the circle, her blade carved an infinity symbol in the air before her. Her blue eyes tiredly blazed with another sort of light, one that matched the ferocity building in her face, betraying no sense of weakness from her affliction.

Romi use it to transition from one side of her opponent to the other, slashing at him with scarlet snakes consistently until she got from point A to B. Watching the infinity symbol simmer out just before she'd end up on the opposite side of Ophidia. She knew Arcanus could easily defend his way through that.

Interesting enough that she was not in full, good health. She'd had been battling Sith poison that'd been injected into her a while back. It sapped her strength and defied most of Coren's best efforts to help her. Of course things could have been worse, as she could of died on Lola Sayu. Her strength in the Force has sustained her, and in combat she lets the Force race through her. Though there were times...times like today where she'd grown fairly weak from the constant use of the Force to stonewall herself from falling....
