Nemene stood in the middle of what could only be described as a gladiatorial pit. There was high walls surrounding her in every direction and a crowd sitting atop dozens of stage like seating. There was a slight frown on her face as a roar of the crowd deafened her hearing as a slight squish could be heard behind her, someone else had just died.

Just in time Nemene rolled on her heel, turning just in time to raise her hand and catch the wrist of a massive beast like alien wielding a nearly blunted sword. The Sith let out a soft grunt, and then used her tiny agile form to drop back, pulling the alien forward. The creature let out a surprised shriek as Nemene twisted its own wrist back and then upwards. The dulled edge stabbed into the aliens chest, piercing its heart and killing it instantly.

As soon as it was dead Nemene slipped out from beneath it and twirled to the side, a picture of perfect graze.

With a single movement the prim lady dusted off her skirt, pursing her lips slightly and frowning after wards, she hated being a mess. Today however it was necessary, she needed the attention that the gladiator battles here on Rattatak so easily provided, and in order to get to the top of them...well she needed to become a bit of a mess.

Another alien charged at her, this one she recognized as an Ithorian, usually a peaceful race. She frowned slightly as the alien raced at her, a sort of chain like weapon in his hand.

He swung the chain, at the end of it a sharp blade. Nemene's eyes popped open, but she did not stop. In a single powerful leap the Sith bounded over the chain and blade, her skirts fluttering slightly as she came in for rolling landing before the Ithorian. Before the creature had time to react she was upon him, her hands a blur as she forced sharp almost blade like nails to dig into the creatures left eye. The Creature screamed in pain and recoiled, allowing Nemene to grasp the chain in its left arm and twirl it around the Ithorians throat.

With a quick wrench of her arm Nemene pulled the chain taught and snapped the Ithorians neck, killing him.

As soon as the alien fell Nemene found herself standing alone in the pit, a look of pure stone on her face. Once again she patted the dust from her clothes, then almost nonchalantly she raised her arms in confident salute, the crowd roaring in indignation at the tiny Sith Girl who had killed so many.

Fighting Pits

And just like that the nameless girl's moment of triumph was over as the announcer called another fighter into the pit. “Ladies and Gentlemen, today we have a special treat for you. I think we all remember him from the last time he visited us.... GAROTH SKYBREAKER, Glory-Song of the West, Thrice-Killed and our beloved champion. Give him your warmest applause and show him your appreciation.” Shouts and praises thundered inside of the gloomy pit, the walls shuddered involuntary at the onslaught of sound. It was then that the supposed champion stepped out of the shadows and into the feint light, clothed in neutral dark-gray robes and wearing a mask. Piercing blue eyes could be seen, looking and questioning everything around him.

With the ease of a predator the man strode to the middle of the pit, where the girl still stood. “Good fight.” His voice was strong and authoritative, but there was a lingering sense of melancholy wrapped around it. Almost as if the man had seen to much in his life and had been saddened by it. Patiently he waited for the upcoming fight, the owner of the Fighting Pits always had something good for him in store. Last time it had been a Rancor, people still sung songs about that fight. Though the Lord of the Fringe had not found it that glorious, it had been a tough situation and he had only barely survived it. Hopefully there would be less Rancors involved this time.

Nemene frowned slightly at the masked man, a bit of dirt on her face and her orange eyes watching him wearily. Part of her had a spark of irritation in her at the way he addressed her, after all she was royalty and he only a commoner. Just this once however she decided to let it slide, right now she hardly looked a Queen and this man was apparently a champion of some sort. So instead of her usual haughty tone and lecture Nemene simply gave him a nod, then strode past him.

Within seconds the Sith Lady found herself standing upon a balcony, another half a dozen fighters standing behind her.

Her nose wrinkled slightly in disgust as she smelled the air around her. The Stench of blood, sweat, and body odor was strong on this balcony and it was all she could do not to hurl. This place was absolutely disgusting and she despised every minute of having to stand there. Inwardly her entire body shuddered as she thought about the fighting cages, where the slaves were kept like lambs to the slaughter.

She didn't mind the slaves of course, what she minded was the condition they were kept in. Covered in their own filth. Her hairs stood up and she took on a slight sneer of disgust. Slaves should have been kept in clean places, less risk of infection and better moral, though she supposed this way they were more eager to die.

Then an announcement rang out throughout the gladiatorial pit and Nemene turned her attention to the man below. She was curious to see this “champion” fight.

There was silence in the pit as Jared stood and waited for his opponents to arrive. Plural, yes. After setting a Rancor upon him, he did not expect them to go easy on him. After a while he could hear wailing and growling. A groan was barely suppressed as he realized what the source of the commotion was. The Fighting Pits held slaves and mostly kept them in cages, but there was one specific section where they kept the good stuff; if you want to call it that. More beast than men, after months of torture and abuse their minds had been broken down. Only the primal parts existed now and they would be his opponents now.

The Glory-Song was not that worried about his chances, if he could kick Rancor ass; he would not have a lot of trouble with crazy flesh-eating slaves. He threw that opinion right out of the window as he saw just how many karking slaves they were expecting him to kill. Fifteen. They wished him to fight fifteen of them at the same time. With a flourish he made two daggers appear in his hands and let them fly; two deaders just thirteen more to go.

He ground his teeth as a sword appeared in his hands, most people would not realize what kind of blade it was. Drenched in blood spilled in anger, it could only be one thing. A Sith Sword. Though most people would not recognize it as such. With a growl he started running towards his enemies and the onslaught began.

Nemene leaned forward on the balcony as her keen orange eyes spotted the drawing of a Sith Sword. She could sense the power radiating from it, and could see the blade for what it was. Her father had forged hundreds of the blades and to Nemene's eyes she could tell them apart from regular swords as though a gummy bear from a graham cracker. She watched with interest, her eyes narrowing slightly.

This was the first she had seen another use a Sith Sword in some time.

Moridin had used his well, she remembered her fathers lessons and his use of the blades. The Steel had cut and sliced through everything as though it had been Bes'kar, Sith Alchemy and forgings were amazing, and Nemene had clamored to learn the creation of the unique blades. Her father however had never divulged that particular secret.

With interest she leaned forward, a tight frown on her lips.

There was a certain elegance in his movements, as he started the slaughter. Because that was what it was: the crazed mutants did not have any armor, they were severely malnourished and because of the psychological damage they had virtually only two strategies in their move-set. 'Bit and bite more.' So when you were up against a Force Master with a fething Sith Sword, you knew something was up.

Still for the crowd it was a big show, all those deaths; the blood and screams.. it made for a spectacular view. At least if you were into such a thing. Jared did not understand it though, he had been expecting a bit more of a fight. After the Rancor incident, he had assumed they would pitch him against a Krayt Dragon maybe.

Then.. it was all over. The Glory-Song stood in the middle of corpses and was about to raise his sword in salute.. but then his surprise came. A large tump was heard as his final opponent came out of the gates. The final bossfight if you will.

At first he was not sure what he would fight, but then the shadows fell away and light centered on the abomination. It seemed they had kept one slave apart from the rest.. a fairly big one. He did not know what they had done to him, but he was big, mean and just as crazy as the rest of the karkers.

He snorted as he awaited the man to run up to him. This was going to be interesting after all.

She watched in slight amazement. It seemed that this man was not completely useless, despite his appearance. Fascination moved into her eyes, though it hardly showed on her face as she watched him work. The more he killed the more Nemene could sense his powers in the force. He was strong, stronger than she herself, though that wasn't saying much seeming as how she had less talent than most other Sith, or even Jedi.

Nemene watched with cool even eyes, following ever flick of the blade, every slice of the mans sword.

The Sith Sword upon her back seemed to ring slightly, as if it was being called by the other weapon. Blood always called for more blood after all.

The Sith Lady pursed her lips slightly as the “bossmonster” appeared in the ring. This creature seemed to be a bit stronger than the others, and hopefully it would provide more of a challenge. Unlike the rest of the crowd Nemene generally did not enjoy watching slaughter, unless she was the one doing the slaughtering. She enjoyed the motions of the blade, the cold fluidity and death that battle brought, rather than the blood.

His eyes were closed and the Force guided his movements. His muscles were relaxed and a calm expression decorated his face, then a second before the monster would hit him.. Jared slid away. It was almost a twirl, he spun around the beast and nicked him in his Achilles heel. Blood sprayed in his face and Jared was happy he had had his eyes closed during the entire motion. If there was one thing he did not want to be too familiar with, it was the blood of a mutant... in his eyes.

The beast screamed, mostly in fury, and whirled around to face him again. It was fast, he gave him that. Though in the end it did not matter much, Bob was not a Krayt Dragon neither an armored Rancor. It was sad that he could not use the Force that openly, otherwise he would just force that beast to swallow a kinetite ball and be done with it.

Sadly this had to be done the old-fashion way, though the public was too high on the blood and hysteria to notice that he was moving at quite a different pace than the usual warrior. They went each other for quite a while tradings blows.

But at some point Jared had enough from it, he charged straight at the animal and jumped. In mid-air he flashed his sword and decapitated it. The head flew a straight line, right into the whooping crowd.

With a flourish he landed on both his feet, bowed lightly, received his applause and then started to leave the Arena.

Nemene blinked slightly as the fight ended, she had expected more...flourish. A slight frown twinged her lips, so slight that it wasn't even noticeable. Clearly she was slightly disappointed by the showing on this fight, she had wanted more. With a sniff Nemene turned on her heel, walking to the exit of the balcony and returning tot he stairs.

She had about an hour or so before her next fight, time to rest and recover herself. She would use that time to wash her face and clean some of the muck off of her clothes. She did so despise being a mess.

An hour later Nemene once again stood in the center of the Arena, her face was placid and her eyes seemed to be almost entirely listless. For once she had no idea who her opponent was, and in truth it didn't really matter. She had only two or three matches left before she became Champion of the Cauldron, a title that she could use to worm her way into the Fringe.

This was her goal of course, to attain status within the outer rim nation. She needed it to form a deal with their leaders, a deal for Byss.

A slight frown touched her eyes as she looked at her chrono, she wanted this done with.

"Ladies and Gentlemen there has been a slight change of plans. The Raging Rhinosaurus and Furious Jim are both disqualified from the contest due to… unsavory dealings. Instead we bring you The Glory-Song again. This time he is pitched against our newest addition. To make it more interesting, no rules are in place this time. Anything is allowed, unless you start throwing with grenades."

In reality it had been Jared himself who requested this. Rhino and Jim were both not very inclined to fulfill his request, it had taken.. considerable persuasion skills to convince them of their fault. In the end it had all worked out though, Jim was able to take most of his teeth back home in a bag and Rhino would be an esteemed guest of a luxurious backwater hospital for a few months. The girl had piqued his interest and he would measure her worth.
In reality he had been searching for an apprentice for quite some time now, someone that could help him with his goals. But as of yet there was no luck in that, maybe this time it would be different. Casually he stepped out of the doorway again and took the girl in. His mask was still on and she would not know that he was one of the Fringe Leaders she wished to impress so badly.

“Let us see what you are made of, lass.” Really, who spoke like that? Definitely not Jared, but even here there could be people who were aware of his usual mannerism. Better to speak like a backwater thug, then to have spies figure out your movements.

Her eyebrow perked slightly as the man from earlier entered the arena. She had not known that he would be her opponent, and the fact that he was surprised her slightly. She didn't let that show of course, her face remained placid, with only the smallest hint of a smile on her stone face. From her thigh she drew her saber-staff, the hand and a half hilt being slightly shorter than a normal dual bladed lightsaber.

Nemene did not ignite the blades, but instead watched the man for a few seconds.

A slight breeze from the downdrafts of The Cauldron tore through the arena for a second, causing Nemene's hair to flutter slightly. She looked ever the Queen, even surrounded by blood, sand and slaughter. Finally after another minute of watching the man she ignited one end of her lightsaber.

The Sun Orange blade sprang to life with a loud snap and hiss, slight gasps erupting from the crowd as they saw the blade.

“I will beat respect into you.” Her words were hushed, almost whispered, though the man would be able to hear them, a flow of the force saw to that. She was a Queen, and anyone who addressed her as 'lass' would quickly learn a lesson in manners.

The Glory-Song stood patiently across her with his hands crossed behind his back. Amusement could clearly be seen on his face as he heard the threat, at least the girl had some form of self-confidence. She did carry herself with the air of nobility, Jared had never liked nobility. Though that was irrelevant now, instead he just tilted his head slightly as he studied her.

"Well.. come on then. I do not have the whole day."

His public laughed and cheered him on. He was their champion, at least for now.

Nemene stared at the man for a few seconds. She knew that he was skilled with that blade, and she knew from the sense of him that he was likely far more powerful in the force than she was. Attacking someone more powerful than you and possibly more skilled than you was foolish to the extreme. Nemene may have been a brat, but she was no fool. So instead of lunging headlong into the man she simply bent down and scooped up a handful of pebbles from beneath the sand.

She used her free hand and placed one of the rocks on her thumb, then using the force she catapulted te tiny pebble towards the mans skull. She did this over and over again, using tiny almost unnoticeable amounts of the force to catapult tiny pebbles at bullet like speeds towards the man.

It was a cheap trick, and she doubted it would work, but at least it would give her time.

He had been expecting a variety of things, but this... this was madness and they were not even in Sparta. The first rock was dodged with such elegance, it would drive a person to tears. By then Jared knew what to expect and had already raised his hand, palm towards his opponent. From his fingertips the Force rippled towards the girl and her rocks. In the least it would repel the rest of the pebbles.

"Let's skip the part where you are testing out my limits. I am getting a bit thirsty."

Jared sounded bored... probably because he was. If she wanted to impress him, she would have to do something else. She -was- fighting against a guy who daily fought against armored Krayt Dragon, Rancors and who caught lightsabres with his bare hands.

Nemene gave the man a blank stare, but she realized that he likely wouldn't be the first to attack. Being the defender usually gave one a position of strength, it was always easier to repel an attack than to begin one, since the former usually required less effort. The Sith Lady let out a soft slow breath through her nostrils, the thrum of her lightsaber drowning out all other noises.

She seemed to stand immobile for a few seconds, and then she pounced.

With a powerful lurch Nemene chucked her lightsaber. The spinning orange blade hurled and slashed through the air, one end of the saber-staff ignited. At the same time Nemene dashed forward following almost directly behind the weapon. As the spinning lightsaber neared Jared she crooked her finger slightly, using the force to activate the other end of the saber-staff and call the blade back into her hand.

Had Jared been expecting to deflect a simple thrown lightsaber he would not have to deal with a full force strike from the woman instead.

She pounded on him, swinging her blade at his midsection in a horizontal slice.

Her strategy was a sound one, at least if Jared had been aiming to dodge or riposte the lightsabre with his own. That was not the case here, instead Jared grabbed hold of the Lightsabre. His skin sizzled and burned, but his face did not show any pain; as he pulled her closer to face him. "You are so far out of your league here, Queen." She would note that his words were spoken without a hillbilly accent or urban-understreet slang. Should make her think about what she was thinking.

Not that Jared really cared, he was too busy with something else. For a second he just considered her, then he started barraging her mind with his own. Being trained by Spencer Jacobs herself... well it came with certain perks. But she would find out soon enough about that.

This time he was far more careful with his attack, the events on Endor made him wary. He had no interest in getting trapped inside of this girl's mind, for some reason he suspected it would be an even worse experience than being trapped inside the mind of a crazed midget Jawa. Though by not a big margin, Jared had to admit that.

"What is it your greatest fear, little dove? No matter, I will know soon enough."

What Jared obviously could not have known was that Nemene had a natural resistance to mental attacks or techniques of any sort. Her mind was a thick barrier of stubbornness and narcissism. Telepathy could not reach her thoughts, Jedi Mind tricks naturally did not occur, and mental domination failed entirely on the young woman. However this little pressure was something else, and when driven by the full force of a Master the mental jab managed to press through even Nemene's natural gifts.

She winced as the man touched her mind, she could feel him digging and the pay of it was absolutely excruciating. Rage boiled through her, absolute anger to the fullest degree. No one touched her mind, no one!

“NO!” Her scream burst from her involuntarily as the man saw her greatest fear, not a tangible one, but a fear stronger than any other. It was simple really, she did not want to disappoint her father. The Destruction of Darth Moridins legacy and her inability to keep up with it, that was Nemene's greatest fear in this galaxy, nothing else.

As the man tore this tidbit from her mind Nemene's muscles clenched involuntarily, anger and pain surged through her and she lashed out.

With one quick motion she deactivated the lightsaber, the bright plasma immediately falling from Jareds grip and freeing up her movements. She lashed out, becoming a blur of motion as she wheel about and brought her heel towards the mans face as blinding speed.

Indeed... Jared could obviously not have known that his opponent had a natural strength in mental defenses. Then again, he was a Master, he should have seen it coming. Then again, he had always been an arrogant bastard, this was just one of those times it came back to bite him in the ass. Or maybe a kick in the teeth. Naturally he was too busy with extracting the information from the girl and... processing it after that. It was only the Force that kinda saved him from having to retrieve his dental supply from the ground. Or maybe it was plain luck, who knows.

At any rate, Jared backed away slightly as he lost control of the blade. So in some ways, Nemene saved him from herself. As he stumbled backwards her foot, which was quite interesting to behold from that distance, took him straight in the chest and sent him flying in the wall.

He clashed into the wall and made a nice dent in it, as he slid down to the ground pieces of rubble and dirt fell on top of him. Thankfully, Jared was used to this kind of displays. After Anaya collapsed a fething building on top of him? Well.. let us just say that he could take a hit.

But that did not mean that he was happy about her.. rude behavior.

“tsk tsk tsk. Is that how your father has raised you? Your behavior will have to be... corrected.”

In his hand a ball of kinetite appeared, it flashed red, yellow and then black again. He threw it, almost casually, to her feet. The range was pretty big, so she would have to run -really- fast if she wanted to dodge that.

Nemene tried to move as fast as she could. She was not strong in the force, weaker in fact than most Apprentices, but she was able to pump some of the life altering ability into her muscles. Her footsteps sent clouds of dust into the air as she shifted away from the ball of kenitie. Even at max speed however she was not fast enough, the ball of lightning and force smashed into the ground besides her sending a wave of debris splashing against her.

Tiny shards of rock flew up, in bedding themselves in her side and opening cuts on her stomach and ribs. She hissed with pain as blood began to pour from her wounds.

The knuckles that held her lightsaber in her right hand grew white as she fought away the pain, her eyes watering slightly when she pulled out a large piece of rock from her abdomen. Blood spilled out in droves and she quickly covered it with her palm. A slight sizzling could be heard, as she seemingly winced in pain.

When Nemene removed her hand the wound was sealed shut, her skin completely perfect where the cut had been, healing was one thing she could inf act do.

A wince came over her as the smoke rose from the newly healed wound, her white knuckle grip tightening even more as Jared mentioned her father. Moridin had taught her everything. “I will break you.”

She said the words as simple fact.

“Maybe.”
Jared did not grant her respite, instead he used the Force to augment his agility and jumped towards her. In a matter of a second, the man shortened the distance between them. While jumping, his hands started to cackle. Black and red lightning streamed from the palms of his hand, right at the girl.

He would find out what she was made of, if she was only talk.. well. Let's not think about that.
