Strengths:

• Flak. The Hydra can unleash a huge amount of anti-starfighter fire, enough to dissuade almost fighter or bomber from getting too close.
• Agile. With its unique targeting and tracking system, the Hydra can responsively aim and shift to cover any possible approach.

Weaknesses:

• Gunnery. The Hydra is almost completely helpless against escorts or capital ships.
• Slow. For a frigate, the Hydra is slow, as so much power is diverted to its manoeuvring jets.

Description:
Designed like many frigates to provide anti-starfighter flak support, the Hydra’s single purpose is to support the larger ships of the fleet and protect them from enemy fighters and bombers. To this end it has a vast array of defensive guns, but almost no capital guns.
If confronted and pinned down even by a heavy corvette the Hydra will be unable to properly reply. Against enemy fighters though it can unleash such a storm that they’d be hard pressed to penetrate the web.
