Bounty Hutt's Ransom (Open to Bounty Hunters)

It was midday and it was the hottest week in the history of Tatooine, so much so that the Jawas were seeking shelter from the heat, even the Tuskens were cowed by it. The Cantina was packed to capacity with thirsty patrons. After-taste wasn’t a problem if you were sweltering. But the Palace that had changed hands recently had a very angry atmosphere. The Kadjidic just got word that his precious cargo of gems, spice, slaves, and gold were stolen, and the couriers were injured. It was a lightning ambush, and everyone was caught off guard by the whole debacle, and quite, fortunately, no one was killed in the plundering raid.

Dehurk the Hutt was in a bad mood, no he was livid. The tension was so thick that not even a lightsaber can cut through it. Those who could describe the thief, a Pirate in black armour. Dehurk grumbled, his mood soured further. Pirates are a nuisance. Apparently, this one was very active and extremely disruptive. Dehurk wanted his goods back, he wanted the Pirate Isidor Justeene captured, who is a real problem that the Hutt had handwaved away as a nuisance and a simple thorn in his bodily foot.

This is why he was stuck in this black hole of revenue depletion, this was not the first time this has happened. But the Hutt will certainly bring it to a screeching halt. Because the dip in supply means he himself may run into a few issues which are not going to end well for anyone. This is what his previous Major-domo warned him about, the stagnation of his Empire will be picked up by scoundrels. The Supreme Hutt ignored and flattened the poor Human in response, a response made in tail jerk reaction. Dehurk pondered for a moment, his court stilled, it looked like a movie set with no actors.

There was a way to get his stuff back and get the Pirate captured, through the Bounty System. He’ll post out a Bounty for both the procurement of his wares and the capture of the thief. So he sent his right-hand man to post up a Bounty on this Isidor Justeene fellow, with the emphasis on being captured alive. The Hutt will pay handsomely to anyone who takes the task of hunting this miscreant down, alive.

His whole profit margin and reputation depend on it.

Another day, another job.

Expect, this one was on Tatooine. There were few things the young Mandalorian hated more than heat and sand. Snow, cold. That was his environment. His snow colored armor was made explicitly to blend into such worlds. At least, that was his father's intentions. And Eliz was ever his father's son. He grumbled as he hopped off his speeder and onto the hot desert sand. At least his armor kept him cool.

He just hoped he wouldn't have to run around in the Dune Sea or something.

His visor turned towards the group he was escorting. Another of Dehurk's cargo, being shipped across Tattooine via speeder. The plan was simple. This unannounced delivery would be 'leaked'. It was a small group, made specifically to move across the sands as quickly as possible. Word was this shipment needed to risk being caught cause otherwise there'd be a gang war.

There were gems, there was credits. But it was bait. The Chissalorian pulled out a set of Elecrtobinoculars, scanning the horizon. He was part of the bait. If the shipment was that important, surely there'd be hired guard. And what better guard was there to hire than a Mandalorian? Eliz hopped back onto his speeder once he was sure it was clear. They still had to 'hurry' to their 'destination' after all.

Dehurk had made sure it was filled with valuable goods, as he had found from the grapevines the Pirate Lord could not resist stuff like this. Either, because he can take stuff as he wished or, it was hoarding behaviour but, the Hutt didn’t care. He just wanted to get the thorn from out of his side. He and the hunter Eliz hammered out a plan, lure and capture. A quarter of a million credits was offered.

So, the cargo was packed and ready for transport, each crate held enticing goods. So the trap was set all they need was for the mouse to scurry into it. Which may be pretty soon. Those who were handpicked to help with the shipment patted their faces and necks with handkerchiefs. their unics are already covered with a lot of sand.

They too scanned the horizon, no sign of the Pilferer, which confused one of the Humans, he had the idea that Pirates charge at the target goods and take them. But this is a waiting game. The Pirate was out there, waiting for them, yet they didn't know where.

"That scoundrel is toying with us." He muttered, handing a water cantine to each of his fellow compatriots. Clearly on edge at how silent it is.

"He's out there, somewhere we are not looking at." Says a Weequay.

Just behind an outcropping of mushroom-shaped rock formation, Isidor was watching them, a gleeful smile formed on his lips. More loot to take from His Great Sluggyness. Hutts were excellent at business but lousy when it came to keeping their cargo en-route. Because, who knows, someone else may just take it.

<"He hasn't learned, good if he was smart he would be dangerous."> Isidor says to his men while drawing a game plan for their ambush.

Unlike the others, Tarnish didn't need a speeder. That was the thing about Tarnish, and why he was hired so much. He was cheap, highly effective, and didn't require any addition supplies. Plus, just look at Tarnish, he was clearly something to be reckoned with.

Tarnish stood nearby the shipment they were escorting. Apparently, this was bait. Tarnish didn't like using bait. He preferred to go for a more direct approach and hunt down his target, instead of letting the target hunt down him. But, this was what the others had insisted upon. So, Tarnish had agreed to go with the plan.

Tarnish towered over the other members of the escort, having to look down at them. His skin was pale white, lacking any pigment, making him stand out from the surrounding environment. He was incredibly skinny and lanky, with bones clearly visible under the skin, yet that look about him was incredibly deceiving.

Nearby, another one of the bounty hunters pulled out some electrobinoculars, and began scanning the horizon. A Mandalorian... That armor must have been hot out here in the desert. Probably sweating as hell under there too. That was another reason why Tarnish had been hired, he didn't have the limitations all other people had.

Through the Force, Tarnish could sense a disturbance. Something devious was planning something... Possibly their target.

"We are being watched, I sense it." Tarnish said aloud. "I recommend that we act like our transport has broken down, and that we're stranded here. They may be enticed to come to us faster." He suggested.

Eliz_div.png

"Fake an accident, huh?" Wasn't the worst idea, but wouldn't that just be more suspicious? Eliz shook his head before turning his visor towards Subject 002 Tarnish Subject 002 Tarnish . Yeah, this was the one thing that seemed odd about the group. Was it a Sithspawn? Monster? It wasn't anything he recognized. At least it seemed like the thing was on his side. Whatever, the Hutt hired whomever the Hutt wanted to.

"No, the bait is this is hell of an important shipment. Having a speeder break down would be the work of amateurs, and words out Dehurk hired the best. We keep moving. Especially if they're close. Spring their trap, then kill or capture them." Changing the plan wasn't something he'd like to do, if it could be avoided. Right now? It could be avoided. "We move! Dehurk'll be pissed if we're late!"

Eliz hopped back onto his speeder, as did the rest. And they were off. Flying into the belly of the beast, but at least they knew where the fangs were.

The plan was in motion, the idea is to circle them and strike in an organised assault. Which will be off guard and put them on strategic advantage. Their ambush had to be quickly re-managed once the unnerving creature joined the supply convoy. Usually, those with long limbs can reach far and often quick to catch anyone off guard.

The messages were sent to small detachments dotted around the convoy, they were not military, no question but they knew how to set up ambushes and be just as cunning. Isidor quietly armed his blaster and unsheathed his sword and directed the pirates near him to get ready.

Back at the bait, the Weequay picked up a gem to look at it cast prisms on the transport's side. He didn't want to be here but the fear of enticing Dehurk's ire made him stay. His look of disdain was clear on his face.

"So why hasn't the pirate struck yet?" He spat, irritation growing. He didn't like this Pirate Lord. So, he refrained from making a scene for now.

The Human suddenly froze, his spine rigidly straight. This was becoming tense. Then after a second everything happened all at once. The ambush begun but only certain groups attacked at a time. Then Isidor appeared from behind the Mushroom rocks, so he was now standing on top of them.

<"Heh, this is too easy."> He scoffed dryly. He may get that fight he had been itching for since the Blood Slug debacle.

It began with a grenade. A thermal detonator went off in the sand at the head of the convoy, blowing the first speeder into pieces. The rest came to a scattered halt to avoid crashing into the wreckage. Then shots began to ring out from the surrounding rocks as braver pirates rushed the speeders with sidearms and blades. The convoy was under attack.

FINALLY. That had taken far too long.

Llorum sprang from a crate of credit chips, precious metal falling from his body as the hunter drew his pistol. His HUD began highlighting attackers in fuzzy red as his eyes adjusted to the harsh light of Tatooine's suns. An unseen grin appeared under his helmet as he looked a shocked raider in the face. "Surprise." He squeezed his trigger. He'd waited patiently, hunched over among the loot so that the sight of two Mandalorians wouldn't frighten off the prey. And now, as a prize for being so patient, he got to plug pirates full of laser bolts. Maybe this wouldn't be such a bad day.

Blasterfire began flying around the halted speeders as Llorum rushed to take cover behind a fallen crate, downing a second enemy as he ran. Immediately, the young man had a sense for the situation. And this battle had begun less than favorably. It was the shooters hidden in the rocks that were the real problem. Faking like he was going to stand and shoot, Llorum ducked right back into cover as a blasterbolt flew just above his head. If the enemy had any more grenades, they were saving them for something. It looked like the plan was to kill the entire convoy from a distance, sending raiders in on foot to entice their party to fight within the snipers' view. It wasn't a terrible plan, for a bunch of pirates.

But if snipers were invincible, everyone would've carried rifles.

Chaos erupted quickly, but that was kinda the point. Traps on both sides had been sprung, leaving the young Chissalorian with a grin behind his helmet. A grin that was short lived as a blaster bolt slammed into the side of his helmet. He turned somewhat from the impact, but Beskar was strong. His Beskar'gam wouldn't fail him, especially not now. Though, the fractal pattern that coated it was ripped off.

Not that he was hiding this time, but it certainly put a damper on his plans.

Ah well.

Behind cover Eliz pulled free his heavy Charric, letting the gun rest in his palm as he let loose a scan pulse. His hud lit up with all the targets around him. The grin returned. <"Can you keep the snipers occupied?"> The com in his helmet clicked on, sending a message to the others around him. Most he didn't think would survive this kind of ambush. They were thugs, not soldiers. But Llorum El'dar Llorum El'dar wasn't. A fellow Mandalorian.

He didn't wait for a confirmation before rocketing upwards. The fractal pattern wouldn't turn him invisible, but his image flickered in and out like a glitch, hard the eyes for most. His mind played through his calculations rapidly, slowing the world around him in turn. He'd turn his Charric forward, unleashing a volley of shots. One for each sniper. Those unfortunate to have their heads uncovered had them promptly blown off.

Above the battlefield his sensor picked up one more. Not hidden among the sniper nest. He turned his visor to the mushroom rocks, right towards Isidor Justeene Isidor Justeene .

Finally, the pirates had decided to spring their attack. Tarnish had been tired of waiting.

All around them, blasterfire began ringing out, flying around everywhere. A blaster bolt hit Tarnish's shoulder. He barely moved, not even reacting to the blaster shot. Tarnish turned, and looked at where the shot came from. He saw the pirate looking at him from a large rock, confused. Then, when the pirate saw Tarnish's face, he froze in fear. Tarnish could sense his fear as he looked at the monster. Good... They were going to regret their actions.

Tarnish screamed out, and began rushing at inhuman speeds towards the pirate that shot him. He was incredibly fast, moving far faster than should have been physically possible for any living thing to move. He lunged at the pirate, leaping a tremendous distance, and tackled him to the ground, behind the rock, out of sight from the convoy.

All that could be heard was the pirate screaming in pain, flesh ripping, and Tarnish screaming back.

Soon, the pirate's screams stopped, ending in a final gurgle. Then, Tarnish climbed up onto the rock, his pale white skin was covered in dark, red, crimson blood, specifically around his large hands and mouth.

<"Target in sight.">

Finally... They had finally found their target. Tarnish screamed, the battle cry echoing out.

He was ready for the hunt.

The carnage played like a slasher Holo and still, his men kept firing and hurling explosives at the convoy, not necessarily to maim but to disorientate and scare them, which ended the Weequay's career by taking the guy's head off. Then many of the Pirates became aware of Tarnish. The big thing in the middle of the fight, now covered in blood.

Isidor for his part silently instructed snipers to aim for Tarnish to keep them busy. This leaves the main objective, take what they please and maybe have a little fun with the couriers.

He cared for his crew, heck he paid them extremely well but because of the now near mass of carnage, he couldn't keep track of everything and even he ended up being pinned down, as he looked up and saw Eliz above and Llorum who was just out of his periphery. Okay, so he had to correct his game plan.

Mandalorians are an enemy not to be trifled with by any means, heck he heard they make decent Bounty Hunters, which is why there must be a lot more careful and sneakier than just going headlong. So, he needed to give himself some distance to form another idea. Getting another blaster, he fired at Both Eliz and Llorum at the same time as he moved position. The objective of this is to buy time to think of a different plan and give his crew a breathing space at least to stay alive from the headshots they have been falling victim to.

Incidentally, he had to duck a few shots himself, many bolts coming too close for comfort. He could feel the plasma as it whistled past his head and embedding itself into an unfortunate pirate. Every death was unfortunate and will be mourned but right now he needed to remain alive both for himself, his crew, and his best friends.

He aimed concentrated shots in Eliz's general direction as he was the nearest one to him, this was to keep him the centre of attention so that the others can re-incircle the transport again.

Ah, so that's where they'd been hiding all their detonators.

Explosions rained down upon the huddled defenders as a voice buzzed over Llorum's helmet comm. <"Can you keep the snipers occupied?">

Hunched beside a frightened Weequay, Llorum was suddenly aware of a blinking detonator at the pair's feet. With a yelp, his new cover buddy bolted, only to be plugged in the side of the head almost immediately. Career over.

The vambrace on Llorum's right arm hummed to life, and he lifted the detonator into the air with his personal tractor beam. <"Yeah, I think I've got something here.">

Cycling up the power with a flex of his fingers, he quickly leveled his beam emitter towards the snipers' cover and revved it to the max. Llorum was aware of a glitching spectre blasting into the sky behind him, and he grinned. The hovering detonator spun off through the air, nearly reaching the rocks before it went off in a tremendous blast. An ordinary gunman, while flying, couldn't have shot a target through the smoke and debris of a thermal that had just gone off, let alone several targets. As blaster bolts rained down seemingly from nowhere, wreaking havoc on the enemy sharpshooters, Eliz Krayt Eliz Krayt proved he was anything but an ordinary gunman.

As he stood from cover, Llorum was surprised by a trio of pirates rushing him. Reacting instinctively, he blasted one in the chest before freezing the second in place with his still-humming tractor beam. His left hand gripped the haft of his beskad, preparing to draw the big knife, as the third enemy.... ran right on past him. What in the world? Looking closer at the pirate frozen in his beam, Llorum realized it wasn't simple fear on the man's face. It was terror.

They hadn't been rushing his position, they'd been running from something.

A monster covered in blood leapt atop a rocky outcropping to let out a hellish scream.
"Osi'kyr!" Llorum cursed aloud and nearly started running himself. He was positive he'd have trouble sleeping after this.

<"Target in sight.">

At these words Llorum turned, just in time to process a flash of red coming straight at him. The first shot struck him in the stomach and knocked him down. Swinging his beam emitter around, he used the unfortunate raider caught in his tractor beam as a human shield. Two shots stuck the man dead the next second, and then the shooter's attention seemed to wander elsewhere.

Switching off his tractor beam, Llorum identified the shooter as he stood. Isidor Justeene Isidor Justeene had been kind enough to appear. The pirate was focusing fire on Eliz, who was still in the air. On the one hand, Isidor was shooting up into the suns, through Llorum's makeshift smokescreen, at a partially cloaked target in flight. On the other, that was a very fancy looking helmet, and Isidor had just proven to Llorum how accurate he could be at a distance.

Looking down at the damage his light armor had sustained around the abdomen, Llorum sighed before blasting a charging raider in the face. This one would be tricky, at the very least.

What was the bounty, alive?

Eliz frowned as he brought up his arms to defend his mask, letting the Beskar he wore tank the shots Isidor Justeene Isidor Justeene sent his way. The scan pulse he used ended, and the long recharge had already begun. He lowered his arms just in time to see.. Nothing. The smoke screen from the explosion Llorum El'dar Llorum El'dar caused put the target out of sight. And the Mandalorian.

A neutral scenario.

Tarnish looked around the battlefield, blood dripping off of him. He could sense the fear, the terror the pirates were feeling when they looked at him. Good... good... Let them feel dread, let them understand what they were looking at. Let them know that there was nowhere to run, that there would be no escape from this monster...

Tarnish let out another scream, and leaped a great distance towards another pirate. The pirate tried to run, and Tarnish reached him before he could run. Tarnish grabbed the pirate, and lifted him up above his head. With one hand on the pirate's head, and the other on his legs, Tarnish pulled in opposite directions. The pirate screamed, and the screams were soon silenced as a loud RIP could be heard. The sound of flesh, muscle, and bone ripping apart could be heard. Tarnish ripped the pirate in half, blood and gore flying out and landing on Tarnish. Tarnish threw the pirate to the ground, and let the man bleed out on the ground.

Then, multiple blasters turned towards Tarnish, and began firing. The blaster bolts hit Tarnish, and despite the damage shown on Tarnish, he barely even stumbled. Tarnish screamed another cry, and rushed towards a group of pirates with tremendous speed. As he rushed towards them, getting pelted by a hail of blaster fire, he could see the fear in their eyes as they realized despite their efforts, the monster was still rushing towards them.

Tarnish reached out with his hands, and then slammed into the group of four pirates. Tackling one to the ground, he began clawing and ripping into the pirate's chest with his hands. The pirate screamed as Tarnish proceeded to tear into the pirate's chest and rip out his insides. The other pirates looked on in horror, trying desperately to shoot Tarnish. After ripping out the first pirate's insides, Tarnish then leaped at another, grabbing his head and ripping it off of the pirate's body. The last two pirates tried to then run away, trying to escape a brutal death.

Tarnish grabbed one of them by their legs, and dragged him closer.

"No, no, please!" The pirate screamed in fear.

Tarnish looked at the man. Then, he opened his mouth. His jaw unhinged far beyond what should have been possible, his mouth opening incredibly wide. Then, he lunged his mouth down towards the man.

Though Tarnish and the pirate were out of sight, a loud CRUNCH could be heard. Soon after, Tarnish stood up back into view. He was a sight to behold, covered in the blood of the pirates. The wounds from the blaster fire he received were already beginning to heal. Tarnish looked around the battlefield, searching.

Then, a sniper shot hit him in the back. Tarnish turned and scanned the area. More pirates... perfect. They would make fine prey.

"You handle the target, I will handle his minions." Tarnish shouted to the other bounty hunters.

Then, he let out another loud, anguished scream, and once again, rushed towards the pirates.

Sluuuuuuurp.

Alora's feet fell from the console back to the deck as she scooted up to the controls. The Gambit loitered in low orbit over Tatooine with its Captain overseeing all the action below. Hey, the guys looked like they had it under control until now. Hadn't been any reason for her to chatter away in their ear while they fought. Now it sounded like they could use her support though -- which was her specialty.

"Betas moving on convoy. Wild Card's moving on them,"
because Tarnish was so a wild card with the whole 'I will eat you' thing going on. Even from her lofty perch Alora wasn't sure how she felt about hearing screams accompanied by the crunch of bones. "Alpha's in your area. Ten degrees port, twenty degrees down bubble, thirty... two yards out."

The Gambit and her weren't called 'Overwatch' for nothing! They had sensors, maps, and the ability to sneak around some sophisticated security perimeters to spy on people or move things securely in or out of a zone. Today was watch and report duty. At least until the boys needed backup. The target wouldn't much like that though; her disruptors' stun setting was quite unpleasant. The migraine lasted for hours. If the purpose was to catch this one alive, probably best she didn't risk like... frying his brain or something.

There are more of them now and, this is going rather badly. He should turn and flee but, the idea of taking that shipment kept them fighting even though there is carnage. Isidor can be extremely single-minded, which clouds everything else to the wayside to focus on what he wants instead.

He had to take cover, as the gunfire became more erratic as the pirates began to scatter to escape the long, tall and bitey thing snacking on them. The Ubese winced as the rending of bone rattled the dry air. The whole scene of blood spraying everywhere is horror worthy.

Isidor always mourned the loss of crewmates, he's not a heartless person. There had to be a better way to deal with these Hunters and take the prize, but right now they fear that thing rampaging around. The sand is saturated with blood and body juice which will stink in the heat soon enough and, attract nasties who would add to the chaos.

But why should he let his band do all the work, surely, he should brave the swirling melee too? He should, they are pirates. So, Isidor reloaded his blaster weapon and aimed at Llorum El'dar from where he was behind some cover. Even if it wasn't effective, he still will make them focus on him. They were after him so, why not draw their full attention onto him?

A few pirates had ducked undercover to escape being ripped apart, which was a relief but, hopefully, they won't go back out to try anything else without a solid plan. He was one to talk, he did the same thing; go forth without any plans but luckily, he escaped with minimal loss.

Besides, they came out all this way in this heat to deliver cargo to the Gluttonous Slug, who was not bright enough to be able to keep his cargo secure enough the first time. An easy hit, but now it's becoming difficult to grab and bail. Chit has hit the fan alright and, he needed to think of a plan very quickly before things got even more out of hand.

Surely a Thermal may turn it in his favour, it might if he can lob it at one of the Bucketheads. Llorum El'dar looked like a good target. So he armed it and then lobbed it at the Mando's direction, hoping to score a hit or at least do some damage.

A blinking grenade interrupted his inner tangent.

What was it with these guys and thermals? Llorum nearly fired up his tractor beam again and threw it back out of habit, but the last time he'd done that he'd messed up Eliz's shot. Plus, the shrill and fast beeping suggested this thermal had been given longer to cook. With a flick of his hand he fired up his jetboots, yelling out "Thermal!" in case Tarnish was anywhere nearby. His ankle-mounted rockets lifted Llorum into the sky just as an inferno burst into being underneath him. Ripped upwards by the blastwave and his jetboots both, he struggled to maintain control as the wind whipped past his helmet. Now without cover, he fought to right himself in the air, surveying the battlefield below.

The screams of the pirates filled the air, crying out in fear of the monster ripping them apart. The screams of fear and pain only fueled Tarnish's rampage... They would not escape this alive...

Tarnish continued to surge forward, screaming and yelling at the top of his lungs, yelling out a battle-cry filled with anguish. He rushed at incredible speeds, surging through the battlefield to eliminate the pirates one after the other. Oh how he loved the hunt... There was nothing quite like ripping your enemies apart limb from limb.

Another pirate fell, suddenly missing their head. Tarnish looked around, standing fully up. The remaining pirates had fallen back into cover, trying to put some distance between them and Tarnish. By now, Tarnish had eliminated a good amount of them, most of the snipers had fallen during his rampage, their lives having been ended in pain and anguish. One of the pirates was still alive, trying to crawl away as blood from a gap in their stomach bleed upon the sand. The pirate groaned and whimpered, trying to crawl away. Tarnish watched the pirate crawl, watching the man desperately try to escape the monster as he bleed upon the sand.

Then, Tarnish was on him, dragging him out of sight behind a rock.

"No, NO, NO! NO HELP ME!" The pirate screamed as Tarnish dragged him behind the rock.

The pirate's screams would continue to cry out in vain, screaming and crying in pain and anguish as Tarnish tore into him, tearing open his body. His cries for help would soon be silenced to a gurgle as the man took his final breaths. Tarnish stepped back out into the open. He saw the Mandalorians headed for the target. Tarnish would let them handle it. He would interfere if they needed his help.

Alora let out a shuddering groan.

I really do not like that... creature.

Like, Alora totally understood where the Gambit was coming from regarding Subject 002 Tarnish Subject 002 Tarnish . Maybe everyone down below was being shot at and exploded-at, but they didn't have to hear all the screams. Maybe one or two, maybe at a distance, but not loud and clear.

Who gave it a commlink?

Right? Like, if it didn't have a microphone Alora wouldn't have to listen to the anguish of people begging not to be eaten alive. She'd vaporize a man (or woman) if the situation called for it. Wouldn't lose a wink of sleep either. Some of them even tried to plead for mercy -- they should have thought of that before committing a mortal crime. But it was different to hear it over and over and over. Not to mention bones snapping and the wet gurgle of a dying person which was completely unlike the 'whoop, now you're vaporized' no fuss no muss.

A flare of a thermal grenade registered on the sensors near Llorum El'dar Llorum El'dar , but he called out a command or cheer of support for Eliz Krayt Eliz Krayt as his signature shot over the distance toward the target. Looked like Eliz was trying to take advantage of Isidor Justeene Isidor Justeene focusing on taking out Llorum. Good strategy. Hopefully it worked, but the Pirate Lord seemed to be one of those 'Thinker' types -- you know, with a brain. Not an easy mark. But that was okay, because they were Mandalorian and if the jobs were easy then the local authorities would have handled this already. That and the Mandalorians would be gearing up for another galactic war because they were bored and no one wanted that.

Isidor barely had time to think fast as Eliz went at him, which means he had less than a second to dodge or get knocked into the intestinal sludge of sand below. The window of action closed in more and the need for definitive action intensified and Isidor barely managed to get away from Eliz's takedown. He will slip up sooner or later. Then that would lead him to capture or necessitate fleeing from the situation.

Isidor aimed his blaster again and fired from another vantage point. Whatever gives him predictive reflexes was pretty useful, as sometimes it doesn't work and he alone had to rely on HUD. He didn't know what it was, and he didn't wish to know about it either. But eventually, it will not help him out of tight fixes forever. But he can go down fighting and being slippery and conniving while doing it.

Meanwhile, the surviving pirates ga had gathered in a protective clump. Which would give them an advantage in numbers, and they can concentrate firepower at Tarnish in a concentrated stream of blaster fire, one even had a flamethrower they ignited and swept at the area with it. They were clutching at the proverbial straws here.

Which left a few more survivors to fistfight with the remaining Couriers. Which was just a whirling mass of fists and knives. The blood splatter added to the mess. A few did get hit by stray bolts. Isidor wiped the sludgy sand off his mask, goodness, that smelled nasty. Even with the filtering the smell of baking intestines still reached his nose. He was able to remain focused without the smell distracting him.

Yet they all continued to hold their ground, the sands beneath them shifted and began to haze the area in airborne sand which was most unfortunate. Visibility was reduced, which made finding what to aim for even more difficult and frustrating. Much braver of the pirates broke from the clump and, headed for the transport to seize control of it. They zig-zagged across the sand to throw off targeting sensors, at least they hoped it did.

The Pirates were dwindling in numbers and, the swish of wind was mixed with the cries and groans of the injured and dying. It was carnage but none fled the scene, no one deserted. They stood their ground but they will eventually need to escape. Their Captain included.
