Public Hunting in the Shadows (Training Thread)

Ilwynog was conducted their first training session, they were interested in honing the Padawan skills in ways to make them skilled in the Silver Shadows if they chose to go down that route. Adjusting their armour and rough cloak, Ilwynog touched their helmet and paused, it was going to be a fun training session they had hoped. A game of chase, the young Padawans having to hunt down an object hidden from view, something they had hidden personally and ensured it would not be easy to locate the object. Ilwynog was not going to give any details about what the object was or where in the Temple and the surrounding area it could be. The idea would be to sense it and the students would know when they saw the item what they were meant to collect.

Standing in the middle of a hall, Ilwynog stretched their arms as they looked around. Visiting the Silver Rest between missions was always an interesting time. They were really the Jedi type, they wanted to support the Jedi but they were an ends justified the means type when it came to approaching information and dealing with missions. Ilwynog had their blaster pistols on their thighs as well as their single Lightsaber attached to their belt. A silver blade saber, it was unique colour but they didn't feel an alignment to one side of the Force and felt their Lightsaber should mirror that.

Hopefully some students would turn up.

The ability to see beyond mundane sight is not one that anyone would immediately think of when thinking of the abilities of a Jedi. Their skills with a lightsaber. The ability to move objects with their mind. Or, their supernatural physical prowess. Something as subtle as being able to see in the dark, or through walls is not exactly a topic of hot debate among those who would gossip about the Jedi Order.

But. To one with a practical mindset. It was a godsend. Seeing through wall? Being able to ignore visual impairments like darkness or even a too bright flash of light? Even at the highest mastery of being able to see through all but the studiest of materials would be an incredible boon.

And so, for someone who took such delight in exploring the Galaxy. It was only natural that Aaran decided to sign up for such a class.

Bouncing on the balls of his feet. The Padawan strode into the training hall. Clad in just his flight jacket, t-shirt and simple study work pants. He gave a quick bow to his instructor. "Master Cysgod." He greeted, tone polite with a small smile on his face. He stood at ease. His arms crossed behind as back as he regarded his instructor. "Is there anything in particular we need to know before starting? Or will we just get right into things?."

The Shadows were a vital part of the Silver Jedi, it was through their members like himself that they were able to obtain the majority of their information about certain planets, people and places. It was no wonder such a section of the order was always in need of new members, more so now as the things became more heated with the Sith Empire. Even if he wasn't a master yet Tana was a well accomplished Knight and member of the shadows, helping out with the training and possibly learning something new himself was never a bad option.

Wandering through the halls the youthful looking Jin approached the two present men, one the apparent Master Cysgod who would be running the training exercises. The other Padawan Tafo a new comer but quite the skilled member from what he had heard from others, an interesting pair so far but it seemed a bit strange that no one else had shown up. "Greetings, master Cysgod, Padawan Tafo, am I early bu any chance"?

For many this was going to be an important lesson, to learn how to see beyond sight and grasp at the very nature of the force. For Kirieth however, she knew it was going to suck. For her, at least. But still, she couldn’t get better if she wouldn’t delve outside her comfort zone. IF she could be able to use the ability, it’d get rid of some disadvantages as well, like fighting in the dark or having her eyes sizzled out. Bright light conditions, or just being blinded in general. Her old Master Pongle had generally sneered at force abilities that were for utility. And so, she made her way to the hall. She thought that was where they were supposed to go.

She’d already forgotten the name of the instructor. That was unfortunate, maybe she could get away with it by just calling him (or her) Master, or something. She saw what she thought may be the group. There were three people, one didn’t look all that much like a Jedi. Neither did the person next to him, standing in a jacket and work pants. Strange. Maybe she went to the wrong place? Maybe she should just go for it. She walked over toward the trio. “Hello, is this the group for training?” she asked, trying to be at least a little vague so she didn’t embarrass herself too much.

There wasn't many Padawans here, but they weren't too worried. If more arrived, then they would just be a little behind on the task to the others so it would be a lesson ensuring you could keep the time was what Ilwynog decided would be tacked on for late comers. Looking at the trio, "Greetings, this is a group for Force Sight." Ilwynog informed Kirieth, before looking at the others. "I suspect that you know how to use Force Sight, it is a basic Force power, how this is a test not only of your powers but one of your mind as well. To investigate the Temple, find clues for the object that you are looking for and to find the hidden object somewhere in the temple. It is in the temple, not outside, could be in the gardens or the many rooms." Ilwynog explained to the students.

"I won't give you a hint on the object but remember to focus and open your mind to see everything here." Ilwynog instructed, if they had anymore questions then they could ask away but for now, Ilwynog remained silent, waiting for the Padawans to head off. They had hidden a pretty special Lightsaber crystal in the temple and they were interested in seeing who would find it first.

Metis was once again, late. She already had a reputation within the academy of being perpetually late to class. In fact currently she was delayed in joining her fellow padawans at what could be a very crucial lesson. Despite this constant tardiness, Metis was still a star pupil. In fact more often than not she was late due to her studious nature. Metis had been meditating and trying to extend her senses so as she could hone them as a skill in combat. Ideally Metis was trying to reach a state of constant vigilance and awareness, so as never to be caught by surprise or even worst ambushed by an enemy. She had however found herself learning an almost opposite lesson. In contrast to her hyperawareness of place, that when she was so centred on extending her senses she had lost perspective of time.

Metis had roused herself from her meditative state to find that the time had escaped her.. Metis was now currently running at full sprint down the corridors holding her datapad in one hand. Metis burst into the lecture, a little frazzled to say the least but atleast she arrived before the lesson was actually over.

“Apologies for my lateness Master”

Force sight, it was a power he had used somewhat but most of the time Tana fell back on his abilities when it came to these sorts of things. It was more natural and defined to some extent and allowed him to use the force on something else. Still training the skill never hurt, there could always be a time when his natural abilities fell short or were impaired in some fashion. Still a scavenger hunt sounding test seemed a little, childish, but if it worked it worked, who was he to question the mans teaching abilities.

Slowly Tana turned to face Aaran Tafo Aaran Tafo , interested in getting to know the newcomer while on the excessive, "I do not believe we have met before, I am Tanasuki Yumi, currently one of the active Jedi Knight Shadows in the Silver Order". "It's always nice seeing new members join our ranks and learn, I've heard you are quite the active member padawan too".

Kirieth pursed her lips and kept them shut as the man said they probably already knew how to use Force Sight. She thought it was a class was learning it. Sure, it was part of the curriculum, but that was a long time ago. And the old Knight she studied under didn’t particularly pay that much attention to that side of the force. It seemed as though she was going to have to learn by the flames, as it were. Improvising. She hoped her brain had calmed down a little bit more compared to the last time she tried doing it.

Right….” She’d say, just a little bit disappointed. Oh well, she guessed it wouldn’t be too bad, there were other people to find the object too, so it wouldn’t be a complete failure if she spent thirty minutes or so wandering around like a moron.

Kirieth glanced to the left, a new member running in at top speeds. She apologised for her lateness, but Kirieth probably wasn’t much better. At least she only missed the opening part. In fact, she was probably better off on fiding the item than her/

The teacher had grown silent. They were probably going to have to start now. She glanced at him, then the newcomer. “Hey there! Uh… We’re supposed to find an item in the Temple using force sight, with clues and such, I think.” She explained. Well, with that done, she guessed it was time to… Get going. She spent a few moments wracking her memory as to remember the technique, following behind others should they make their way in to the area.
