The Swamp Temple

The World of Mancharakorkon was a dense marshland with many small tribal villages spread across its surface. In Ancient Times the world was ruled over by the Hutt Empire as they engaged in conflict with the Empire of Xim the Despot. Building small settlements and recruiting the mancharunk species who made up majority of the populace on the world. They were vital in fighting against the legions of xim during the battles of Vandor. Although they were soon released from service and the settlements became occupied by the mancharunk species accept for the Outsider Settlement which was rebuilt on top of the remains of the Capital City of the Hutt Occupation. Although they have been left alone for a considerable amount of time due to not many people venturing out this far which meant that smugglers and pirates often came to reside within the city to hide from law enforcement.

40 Miles north of the Outsider Settlement would be the Abandoned Temple of Sotaruk. Sotaruk being a warrior deity which protected the Mancharunk Species from being invaded from outsiders although this was untrue. The Mancharunk Species came to abandon the temple when a fearsome beast came to reside within. This monster was none other than the Saruton Mercenary Karkosuchus who drove the mancharunk out by devouring several of their priest using the water ways to his advantage. Karkosuchus made the Abandoned Temple his base of operations until a more permanent abode was available for him to reside. With limited contact with the outside world the base was safe from intruders. Although there was already the brave hunters and pirates looking to slay the monster to obtain the title of monster-slayer. The Saruton had showed them the error of their ways soon enough with their corpses littering the entrance.

The Temple itself was waterlogged with dry cracked walls littered with vines and other plant life, having been taken over by the marshland wild life. The Saruton hunted those animals that came within his lair with predator like precision. His immense bite force was enough to crush even the hardest of armored plating, and his size was enough to wrestle those beasts to the ground. He had just arrived within the temple-lair from the planet of Nal Hutta. Having received his payment from the Nal Hutta Labor Alliance and throwing the coinage into the treasure pile that he had amassed.

The Saruton himself would be overlooking the holonet on his broken holographic transmissions table. While payment was important to any bounty hunter the saruton liked the most challenging bounties within the galaxy. Although his reputation has a cannibalistic killer was renown along with his bounties from the Galactic Alliance and the New Imperial Order. His glowing orange eyes gazed up from the blue light of the table into the darkness of the temple.

His nose picked up something and he snarled

Bounty hunting.

It wasn't exactly something Alina was known to do. More, she loathed that style of living. Hunting after prey for other people who'd rather use their money than their own skills was.. Pathetic in her eyes. But here she was, doing just that. Hunting for the sake of another who couldn't. Perhaps it was a misguided desire to right her numerous wrongs. No, this was purely selfish. Bring in a different monster, and maybe she could get pardoned for her involvement in the Sith Empire.

Not that she was too excited about where this brought her. A marsh world, a swamp. The smell of death filled her nose as she walked through. Trudging through the decay filled waters with a frown on her lips. This was the type of death she liked least. Rampart, wet decay. It always smelled horrible. The rumors and fear from the locals put her on the path. A monster was eating them. Took over their temple.

Yet the monster also got shipments. A sentient. A Saruton.

By all accounts: Karkosuchus.

She stopped before the fallen temple, her lips pulled into a frown. Ah, so that's why this place stunk so bad of death. Numerous corpses, bloated from the heat and water. Of course. Not only was her target a cannibal but he was wasteful. She sniffed the air. Not just wasteful, aware she was here. Well, there went surprise.

"Show yourself, Karkosuchus. I'm here for your head."

The Swamp Temple

The beast snarled once more, leaping on top of a nearby ledge within the temple itself. There was a broken patch of the temple not covered over by stone or walls, an escape hatch for the monster should more formidable beings arrive to slay him. His claws dug deep into the walls of the temple as he climbed up to this patch. Swinging himself up with a leap on top of the temple roof. He reloaded his DLT-19 Heavy Blaster Rifle with new set of charges to make sure that it was going to last through the fight. His footsteps subtle but heavy as he gazed down from the roof towards the Vampire.

Her aura smelled delicious to himself, devouring her would make for a good meal indeed. She had challenged him within his domain and the saruton would not back down even against the odds. Leaping from the roof with his massive body casting a shadow, he pointed the rifle down and blasted away using the high rate of fire to send hundreds of blaster bolts in the direction of the vampire.

Touching down upon a tree with his legs crushing the bark beneath him. Sliding down using his sharp claws as it left deep gashes within the tree itself. Landing his two large feet onto the water. His opponent would no doubt defend from these blaster rounds, so he kept up his firing arc to pin her down once he landed.

Movement. Above.

There you are.

Alina's faintly glowing eyes narrowed above as she watched Karkosuchus jumped down from above. Her body tensed as the smell of ozone burning took over. His blaster. She took off like a bullet. The swampy waters slowed her at first, but her superhuman body had no issue keeping her in motion. Ahead of the stream of bullets. Her eyes narrowed as she whipped around one of the pillars, her fingers biting into the stone like it was little more than clay.

The sudden change in momentum was something she hoped to catch the walking croc off guard with, going from barreling around him to soaring right at him.

The Saruton watched as his prey literally vanished before his very eyes, as the vampire sped away from his storm of blaster bolts. His mouth opened slightly when the vampire charged straight for him. He raised his heavy blaster rifle directly in front of himself, spraying more bolts to make her move out of the way. He trusted on his superior size and durability to embrace for impact. Spinning his rifle around within his hands to bash her over the head with it as she either went past him or tried some other tactic.

The Saruton had a Kean sense of smell, which alerted him to subtle changes within the atmosphere. Allowing him to watch for any surprises by the sudden vibrations within the air. Although he could still be surprised as any beast could.

Her form sped across the water, almost like she was walking over it. In reality, she was using what she could to walk on. Corpses, fallen logs. Leaping from one to another as she weaved around the blaster fire. Ducking underneath, speeding across to close the distance. Her hand came up as the butt of the rifle came down to crack her head, and she caught it. Her eyes twitched for a moment, all her momentum gone in that instant. Sure enough, Karkosuchus was as strong as he looked.

But it didn't stop her. She spun on a heel, pushing the rifle away to instead throw a kick for the beast's stomach.

The Saruton watched with slight anger as the women avoided all of his shots, as he attempted to slam the butt end of the rifle into her skull to end the fight. Although the vampire caught it and threw his weapon away, although due to the attachment on it. The weapon simply swirled around his form to his side now. The vampire moved her leg to a kick to his stomach, as the beast raised his brass knuckled fist to counteract the kick. As the impact sent wind flying in all directions. Moving forward using his superior weight, he bashed into her footwear some more to throw her off.

Once that motion was done, he would move forward snapping his jaws in attack motion to bite off her head.

Boxing with a Crocodile. Probably not her best choice. As fast and strong as she was, well. She gritted her teeth as her kick was pushed back, leaving her off balance. A bad place to be, especially as a set of hungry jaws bit out for her head. Her arms shot up just as the jaw snapped closed. There was an audible crunch as jagged teeth met flesh. Bone. She winced as her arms were promptly shredded by fangs. Blood leaked from her arms, but the unnatural durability spared her head from a similar fate.

She slipped down from the jaw, using her might to try and keep her arms from being taken. Except, well.

Only one arm pulled free. The other was crunched down. Torn off. Alina winced as blood dripped from where her arm had been. It wasn't the first time she'd lost an arm, but.. Yeah, this was worse.

The blood didn't leak for long. Her body was already trying to heal itself, at least to stop the blood. Her other, mangled arm, slowly started to knit itself together. Right. No boxing the walking set of jaws. Her hand reached back, pulling out her lightsaber. It'd been a while, longer than she'd like to admit. The red blade burst into existence as she narrowed her eyes.

"Ow."

Karkosuchus snapped his jaws in anger as his prey dodged his attempt to bite off her head, although he had managed to bite off her arm. Licking his jagged like teeth with his tongue to savor every bit that now flooded down into his stomach. The Saruton paid attention to the drawing of a lightsaber, the blade crimson in color that shined against the dirty and murky water. He begun planning his move set, kicking a fallen log between them towards her in a relatively fast motion. Behind the log would be a pair of sonic detonators from his bandolier that he had grabbed exactly at the moment he kicked the log.

If this motion failed or not, the Saruton would brandish his brass knuckles and charge ahead to the vampire. He knew that she didn't want to fight him in a hand to hand combat and he would use that to his advantage on the field. Although the lightsaber had range, he counted on the sonic detonator disorienting her enough for him to punch her right in the stomach.

The subtle click of detonators. She almost missed it amid the splashing as the log was kicked for her. But she didn't miss it. Her eyes narrowed further as she crouched, lifting her blade with her only hand. Then shot off. Bare handed against the Crock was exactly what she didn't want to do. But with her lightsaber? The red blade flashed through the air, severing the log. The denotators. She had an eerie precision on just where to cut. Then met him face on.

Or would have. No sooner did she disable the grenades then Karkosuchus was face to face with her. She blinked in surprise. He charged her? Despite the lightsaber? Chit. The fist slammed into her stomach. It was akin to punching stone, but for a creature like him? She flew back with the impact, skittering into the swamp. Blood leaked from her lips. Stomach ruptured? Chit. Just chit.

She stood, reigniting her saber as she glared at the lizard. This was going very poorly.

The Swamp Temple

The Saruton's punch had succeeded in punching the vampire further through the swamp. His size and strength was winning this fight within his eyes but he did not become a bounty hunter and mercenary by underestimating his opponent. Instead of advancing to face the vampire in a direct confrontation, the large lizard warrior leap back into the water and slowly sank into its murky depths. Swimming with tremendous force through the water which would make catching him difficult to say the least. His natural element was the water and he would make use of it, having equipped his equipment with water-proof elements. The lightsaber would not be able to function underneath the water unless it had a special attachment.

He swam around the temple since it was partially underwater, wanting the vampire to follow him inside the temple in pursuit. A smart person would leave quickly if they knew what he was planning. But he counted on the fact that she wanted the reward and would not foreseen his ambush. He swam behind a rock and laid still, lowering his body heat and heart rate to almost none. Although their was still a faint trait, the Crocodile monster waited for his prey.

Alina_divider.png.png

The stench of death, she hated it. As Karkosuchus slipped under the water she truly realized just how disadvantageous this place was for her. He was strong enough to harm her. His scent was gone as he dipped out of sight. And his heart. For a bit she could hear it, but it was slowing. Softening? He could stop his heart beat? Her eyes narrowed further as she glanced to the temple, where she last could feel his presence.

Then let out a sigh.

Her still healing limb raised as she reached out to her blood. The blood that had leaked from her wound, onto some of the corpses. Bloated as they were, they'd work for what she had in mind. Several rose up, or rose up as best they could with their half eaten bodies. Mindless thralls under her control. Staggering footsteps lead them forward, into the temple. Searching for where he might be hiding.

She had refused to use a lot of her powers. These unnatural things that made her less human. But now wasn't the time for such hesitations. While she let her thralls step forward, she turned her attention to herself. She had at least one more trick she could use.

The Swamp Temple

The Saruton could smell the undead flooding into his abode, but they had made the error of entering into his waterways. As they approached further into the temple, he moved with speed through the water. Leaping out of the water and snapping the shoulder of a thrall as he dragged it underneath the water. Doing a death roll and chucking the now broken body smashed into pieces into another thrall. Swimming around again and again, repeating the process with brute force. Slashing his claws and snapping his jaws into thrall after thrall, leaving nothing behind of the vampire's minions. Sinking below the water some more, he swam through an exit tunnel out of the temple to where the vampire was busy doing something.

Leaping out of the water in a surprise ambush, snapping his jaws at her.

Alina's form twisted and broke as her thralls shambled through the temple. Her attention wasn't on them. The only thing they cared about was feasting on blood after being pointed in a direction. A distraction, hardly a danger for a creature like Karkosuchus. Her pale flesh pulsed, grew. Stretched to it's limits. Even tore in places as her body violently rebuilt itself. Into her Warform. The highblooded Sangnir reached a single, large hand out as the crocodile leapt from the water, swung in a single, hard punch for the figure's throat. An eyeless mask turned to stare down, Alina's lips pulled into a thin line.

The Saruton was in his motion, snapping his jaws until he saw the hand approaching his form. Shifting much of his equipment to his side to allow himself to emerge into a crocodile death spiral which twisted his form away from the hand. Touching down on the swampy floor with claw marks to slow his current momentum. His glowing orange eyes would shift towards the warform of the vampire. Banging his brass knuckles against one another, if the vampire wanted a hand to hand brawl then the saruton would not object.

Rushing forward in a drunken boxing stance with a high defensive guard, counting on his hunter training to emerge victorious.

Incomplete.

Alina felt it in her core. This form, she didn't know how to use it. How to make it whole. Stronger, yes. But slower. Her fingers flexed as she turned to Karkosuchus. This wasn't a fight she would win. Her teeth ground together as she tensed, lowered herself. Ready to spring forward as the overgrown lizard charged. Then sprang away. Ran. Her warform ripped through the trees, shredding bark as if it was Styrofoam before her.

She wasn't going to win.

The Swamp Temple

The Saruton skidded along the swampy water for a minute. As the vampire sprung away into the landscape, he didn't bother to pursue her as he had worked too hard for this meal. Looking back towards a deeper patch of the swampy water as he jumped into it, using his crocodilian swimming motion to propel him through the water at a rapid pace underneath the dry and cracked walls of the temple. Returning to his humble abode within the ruins and climbing on top of his mountain of loot, resting his form upon the gold and trinkets from the deceased. Stuff that he could sell another time when he needed credits. Although the sound of his holocommunicator device opened and urged him to destory the bryn'adul warriors at a hutt station. Seeing that money and dinner could be made.

The Saruton prepared his gear and moved towards his starship.
