Model: VT-Portable Shield Generator
Affiliation: Open-Market
Modularity: No
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Durasteel, Fiberplast
Weight: 15kg
Description:
The VT-Portable Shield Generator, though produced under Vanir Technologies Fringe Science Division, is not actually a new technology. In fact, the technology that went into the creation of the device was rather simplistic and even standard some time ago. The VT-Portable Shield Generator is exactly as its name implies, a shield generator that can be carried around by any infantry troopers in order to create a shield 'bubble' anywhere within a combat zone.

The VT-PSG is essentially just a large box, easily strapped to ones back and weighing about fifteen kilograms. Although considered heavy, this was still easily transferable by most trained soldiers.

It purpose, of course, is to create an area of safety upon the battlefield. The VT-Portable Shield Generator is deployed, activated, and it's Thermal Shielding kicks in. The shield forms a bubble roughly the size of five meters, projecting an area of complete safety within that range. Of course, as it the nature of the shield, nothing can come in, or go out. That means this shield is not designed as a way of fighting back without taking damage, instead it is used to create an entire "safe zone" where one is relatively safe and given time to act. So far the VT-PSG has seen action mostly with Medical units and other more vulnerable units within Saeva Incorporated.

The shield is capable of taking a massive amount of damage, comparable to the shields found on most smaller starships. This is achieved through the VT-PSG's massive power source and the fact that it is entirely stationary. It allows the shield to functionally become a bulwark against all around it. Of course the shield can still be penetrated by sufficient force, but to do so would take quite a bit of doing.

Of course, the VT-PSG is entirely situational in it's usefulness, and if one is clever they can find a dozen different ways to properly utilize these shields.

I doubt the shield would last long enough for oxygen to actually be a concern. In Canon thats never really shown to be an issue with shields anyway and this won't be used in space.
