SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
  • [Strength] Accurate, long range, and deadly; capable of scrambling energy shields and punching through the hull of starfighters, the A04 is a beast of a disruptor rifle. A direct hit from an A04 carries the possibility of disintegration, making it just as much of a psychological weapon as a traditional one*.
  • [Weakness] This is a sniper rifle. It is entirely useless at close or medium range, except perhaps as a club or a javelin if you’ve got a good arm. It is heavy and unwieldy, making it difficult to transport in general and all but impossible to conceal.
  • [Weakness] Much like the A01, over-using the charged setting on the A04 will eventually damage vital components and reduce stopping power and effective range. This reduction compounds with each successive use of the charged setting and will require a specialist to repair - a complicated task that cannot be done in the field.
DESCRIPTION

A shift in power and ownership within Corondex Arms prompted swift response from the Helix Syndicate, namely the cancellation of their supply contract. Something as important as the Syndicate’s armory could not be left to an unknown or unreliable variable. To replace Corondex, capital was invested in the establishment of Myton Defense on the planet of Jaemus. Just another simple arms manufacturer, although this one had the benefit of being securely in the pocket of the Helix Syndicate.

Shortly after its inception, Myton designed and launched the HSWS line of weapons, beginning with a release of energy weapons under the A0 series. As with all weapons in the A0 series, it has been optimized for use in conjunction with the Sagittarius-Class Targeting System. Those equipped with the Sagittarius will notice an increase in accuracy.

The A04 is a high-powered disruptor rifle capable of dishing out incredible single-shot carnage from a great distance away. Its status as a disruptor makes it something of a terror weapon, considering the gruesome disintegrations that will occasionally result from a direct hit. A04s come with an electronic scope, which features several vision settings (night vision, heat, etc.) and similar properties as macrobinoculars. This ensures a skilled Syndicate sniper can appropriately get a fix on his or her targets. For particularly heavily armored or shielded targets, the A04 also includes a charged setting. This allows the energy equivalent of six shots to be built up and fired all at once, giving the weapon devastating firepower potential - albeit at the cost of a highly reduced rate of fire and potential internal damage.

While a powerful sniper rifle, the A04 is utterly useless for anything else. Except, maybe, a blunt object if you’re in truly desperate need. But these guns are rather expensive and feature some fragile components, so that doesn’t exactly come recommended either.

*No PC or named individual NPC can be disintegrated without their writer's permission, obviously.

A direct hit from an A04 could potentially cause molecular destabilization in victims, prompting either a slow and painful disintegration or a short and abrupt one. Disruptors are fickle technology, so it could go either way…

Obviously, disintegration is up to the receiving party. That in mind, this reads almost as if disintegration is an eventuality rather than a possibility. I would recommend adjusting the wording just a hair so that it reads in a way that implies either significant damage to the target with a possibility of disintegration. I think that's what you likely said, but it almost reads as if they will experience disintegration, either slow and painful, or fast and abrupt.
