DESCRIPTION

The HRSC-M1M "Lifeguard" Medic Armor was developed as a specialized derivative of the HRSC-M1 Medium Trooper Armor.

Rather than giving medical personnel a completely separate armor platform, High Republic Strategic Command sought to retain the proven defensive architecture of the M1 while transforming the system into a mobile battlefield medical station.

The armor's distinctive red medical markings immediately identify its wearer as a Republic medical specialist. Beneath those markings, however, the Lifeguard retains the same reinforced plasteel construction, armorweave underlay, Sentinel-9 personal shield, environmental protection, and integrated electronics that define the standard M1.

The result is an armor system capable of accompanying Republic forces into the most dangerous environments of the High Republic frontier.

Its greatest weapon isn't a blaster.

It is the ability to keep someone alive long enough to get them home.

SPECIAL FEATURES

SHIELDING SYSTEM

PGEM "SENTINEL-9" PERSONAL SHIELD GENERATOR

The HRSC-M1M retains the integrated PGEM "Sentinel-9" Personal Shield Generator.

The Sentinel-9 utilizes Kineti-Phase Modulation Technology (KPMT) to establish a thin protective energy barrier around the wearer.

The system is particularly effective against:

  • Blaster fire
  • High-velocity projectiles
  • Shrapnel
  • Battlefield debris
  • Fragmentation weapons
  • Other high-speed impacts
Rather than simply stopping incoming energy, the system distributes the force across the shield envelope, reducing the severity of impacts.

This is particularly important for medical personnel, as even a non-lethal injury can prevent a medic from treating other casualties.

BIORESTORATIVE UNDERLAY

The armor contains an integrated biorestorative underlay connected to a network of biometric sensors.

The system continuously monitors:

  • Heart rate
  • Blood oxygenation
  • Blood pressure
  • Body temperature
  • Blood loss
  • Respiratory function
  • Neurological activity
  • Trauma indicators
  • Exposure to toxins
  • Bacta saturation
The system can automatically administer limited emergency treatments when the wearer is incapacitated.

These include:

  • Bacta compounds
  • Coagulants
  • Pain suppressants
  • Stimulants
  • Anti-shock medication
  • Emergency oxygen
The system is deliberately limited.

It is intended to buy time, not replace a medical professional.

MEDIC'S BIOMETRIC NETWORK

The medic's armor is capable of establishing a short-range medical network with nearby Republic personnel.

When connected to compatible Republic equipment, the system can transmit casualty information to the medic's HUD.

A medic can therefore quickly identify:

CRITICAL
STABLE
UNCONSCIOUS
HEMORRHAGING
RESPIRATORY FAILURE
DECEASED

This allows a medic to perform battlefield triage without physically examining every casualty first.

The system can also record patient information for later transfer to a Republic medical facility.

MEDICAL HUD

The helmet contains a specialized medical HUD replacing several of the standard combat targeting functions.

Medical HUD Functions

  • Vital-sign identification
  • Casualty tagging
  • Species identification
  • Medical scanner integration
  • Blood-loss estimation
  • Environmental hazard detection
  • Bacta dosage calculation
  • Drug interaction warnings
  • Emergency evacuation markers
  • Friendly-force identification
  • Automated triage recommendations
  • Holographic anatomical references
The medic can designate wounded personnel with an electronic casualty beacon, allowing evacuation teams to locate them.

ADVANCED MEDICAL SCANNER

Mounted into the medic's forearm is a compact medical scanner.

The scanner can perform rapid examinations for:

  • Internal bleeding
  • Broken bones
  • Organ trauma
  • Foreign objects
  • Blaster burns
  • Radiation exposure
  • Poisoning
  • Infection
  • Respiratory failure
  • Neurological trauma
The scanner is designed for rapid battlefield assessment rather than replacing a full medical laboratory.

MEDICAL BACKPACK

The standard combat backpack is replaced with an enlarged Medical Support Pack.

The pack contains:

  • Emergency bacta
  • Bacta patches
  • Coagulants
  • Surgical instruments
  • Emergency transfusion equipment
  • Field IV equipment
  • Splints
  • Compression bandages
  • Sterile dressings
  • Respirators
  • Portable oxygen
  • Emergency stimulants
  • Pain medication
  • Antitoxins
  • Portable diagnostic equipment
  • Surgical sealant
  • Emergency nutrition
  • Sterilization equipment
The backpack also contains expandable storage compartments allowing medics to customize their loadout according to mission requirements.

RAPID-DEPLOYMENT MEDICAL POUCHES

Several armor-mounted pouches are specifically designed for rapid access.

Unlike ordinary military equipment, the medic does not need to remove the backpack to access basic lifesaving equipment.

The medic can reach:

  • Bacta patches
  • Coagulant injectors
  • Bandages
  • Trauma sealant
  • Painkillers
  • Respiratory equipment
while remaining in a prone position.

This allows the medic to treat a casualty while remaining behind cover.

CASUALTY EXTRACTION SYSTEM

The armor contains several reinforced attachment points that allow a medic to connect:

  • Emergency stretchers
  • Drag harnesses
  • Repulsor sleds
  • Rescue cables
  • Evacuation equipment
The medic can also deploy a compact emergency casualty harness from the rear medical pack.

This allows a wounded soldier to be secured to the medic temporarily while the medic moves them toward an evacuation point.

The system is not intended to allow a medic to carry an entire soldier indefinitely. It simply provides a method of moving a casualty when conventional evacuation equipment isn't immediately available.

WEAPON SYSTEMS

Unlike the standard HRSC-M1, the Medic variant does not prioritize heavy weaponry.

The standard dual micro-rocket configuration is removed from the primary medic configuration.

This space is instead utilized for:

  • Expanded medical storage
  • Additional bacta
  • Surgical equipment
  • Diagnostic systems
  • Casualty extraction equipment
A medic retains a standard-issue Republic sidearm for personal defense.

The armor is therefore still capable of combat but is not intended to turn medical personnel into heavy weapons specialists.

MEDICAL COMMUNICATIONS ARRAY

The medic's armor contains an enhanced communications suite.

The system allows the medic to communicate with:

  • Squad leaders
  • Platoon commanders
  • Medical officers
  • Evacuation teams
  • Republic starships
  • Field hospitals
  • Republic medical droids
The medic can transmit a casualty report before the wounded soldier even reaches the evacuation zone.

MEDICAL IDENTIFICATION

The armor carries highly visible medical markings.

The primary insignia consists of the red medical cross enclosed within a circular field, as shown in the provided armor reference.

Medical markings appear on:

  • Chest plate
  • Shoulder plates
  • Helmet
  • Medical backpack
  • Utility pouches
  • Casualty equipment
The markings are intentionally large enough to identify the wearer as medical personnel at a distance.

STRENGTHS
  • Exceptional Battlefield Survivability — High

The combination of plasteel armor, armorweave, energy shielding, and environmental systems gives the medic substantial protection against conventional battlefield hazards.

Advanced Medical Support — Very High

The armor provides considerably more medical capability than standard infantry armor.

    Environmental Survival — Very High

The sealed life-support system allows medical personnel to operate in environments that would otherwise prevent treatment.

    Casualty Management — Very High

The integrated biometric network, medical HUD, scanner, and casualty beacon allow the medic to rapidly identify and prioritize wounded personnel.

    Modularity — High

The armor can be configured for:
    • Infantry medics
    • Combat surgeons
    • Search-and-rescue teams
    • Hazardous-environment operations
    • Clone medical corpsmen
    • Jedi support teams
    • Frontier humanitarian missions
WEAKNESSES
  • WEAKNESSES

Ion / EMP Vulnerability — Low

The armor contains significantly more electronics than standard combat armor.

A strong ion or EMP attack can temporarily disable:
    • Sentinel-9 shielding
    • Medical scanners
    • HUD
    • Automated systems
    • Communications
    • Biometric monitoring
  • The physical armor remains functional, but the medic loses many of the suit's advanced capabilities.

    Medical Equipment Dependency

The armor provides considerable medical assistance, but it cannot manufacture supplies.

    Once the medic exhausts:
    • Bacta
    • Drugs
    • Bandages
    • Surgical supplies
    • Oxygen
    • Coagulants
  • the armor cannot replenish them.

    Limited Offensive Capability

Removing the standard micro-rocket systems reduces the armor's offensive potential.

The medic is expected to rely upon their squad for heavy firepower.

    Shield Exploitation

The Sentinel-9's KPMT system is optimized for high-velocity threats.

Slow-moving physical attacks can potentially bypass the shield.

A deliberate melee attack therefore remains dangerous.

    Lightsabers / High-Intensity Plasma

The armor offers only moderate protection against lightsabers.

A lightsaber or similarly powerful plasma weapon can burn through the plasteel composite rapidly if allowed prolonged contact.
