Hra's Revenge

VORZYD SYSTEM
OUTER RIM TERRITORIES

After toppling the kingpin of the Vorzyd underworld Fator Hra, Vitor's life was much, much easier. Things had quieted down and Corondex was growing roots into the Vorzyd underworld. The Wraithguard introduced to the denizens of the lower levels quickly became a beacon of hope and salvation to the poverty stricken people. Motivated by the open factories that offered the people jobs and good beneficial programs, parents even urged their children to find jobs in the Wraithguard.

Of course, Coruscant wasn't built in a day. As they say.

Neither was Wraithguard.

While the first training center had opened its gates and grizzled drill sergeants awaited the recruits, the core and backbone of the Wraiths was on a hunt.

The 24 men, found by Helix Syndicate as was the deal between Maleagant and Vitor Avendahl, had a job to do. A series of attacks on Corondex assets had led to grouping the twenty-four and sending them to battle. Eerie rumors were being heard in Vitor's intelligence gathering circles. Rumors that Fator Hra was still alive and breathing.

Hellbent on destroying Vitor Avendahl and Corondex.

Wraithguard was tasked with eliminating that threat.

CLASH IN PAVFRUSH CITY

12th PRECINCT
PAVFRUSH CITY
VORZYD IV

For the past couple of weeks Corondex had been taking hits after hits from numerous sides. Small elements were biting at Vitor's earlier success and were keen on taking that away. Avendahl endured until his information gathering circles finally had pinpointed a location for Wraithguard to sweep.

Thus, the showdown at Pavfrush had begun.

Firefights almost immediately exploded in the 12th precinct when the 24 men were deployed. Apparently, someone had inside information. Nonetheless, the 24 men were no strangers to warfare unlike those that had holed themselves deep into the 12th precinct. They were, as Vitor had requested from the Helix Syndicate, a capable and experienced force.

The Wraiths had been ordered by Vitor to be absolutely ruthless with these pockets of resistance. They had obeyed. 24 men gunned down the large operating cell in Pavfrush city by the end of the night with minor casualties.

This was just the beginning.

SKIRMISH AT VANDAGO
VANDAGO BASE
VORZYD IV

The skirmish at Vandago base occurred roughly ten days after the clash at Pavfrush. Informants had found out that the abandoned base had been utilized by elements of the former kingpin Fator Hra. A specific cell that had recently struck hard at an infrastructure project by Corondex on Vorzyd V. A project with a lot of investment behind it. Frustrated and seeking retribution, Vitor Avendahl had joined the expedition to Vandago Base.

Sgt. Bal Kadyr, the same Rattataki who led a team to eliminate all that participated in the robbery of Corondex's factory on Vorzyd IV two and half months earlier was the man in charge of the 12-men team that would infiltrate the abandoned base.

Utilizing underground tunnels that had been built in case of evacuation of the base, the squad inserted itself within the base thus rendering the perimeter defences outside of it useless. The rather larger cell was not prepared for an internal attack as the squad was able to eradicate a good portion of the fighters without raising alarms. Some were muted forever in their sleep. Others died with food in their mouth.

It did not matter to Vitor. He was not a barbarian per se nor was he a man that resorted to immediate show of force and mopping up opposition. In this case, though, he had no other choice. Fator Hra and his loyalists were too much of a problem to be used in any other way. Besides, it seemed that Corondex's hold of Vorzyd's underworld was not that complete if such cells existed and were brave enough to assault Corondex's assets. Such events could lead to disastrous results and to other small time crews to gang up.

This was not about needless murder to sate some bloodthirst.

Not at all. Very far from that.

This was about sending a message.

DECEPTION ON LEVEL 323
LEVEL 323
VORZYD V

Taking over Vandago base and renovating it for the purposes of the Wraithguard had been a fresh breath for General Saigo. He had become more motivated on obliterating the resistance cells of Fator Hra, who informants continued reporting that he was in fact alive. Saigo had come to the idea of rather than awaiting informants on pinpointing locations to crush, he would root the enemies out. Theatrically, he set up information that a Corondex cargo vehicle full of weapon would be passing through this route at this time. Spreading that out as a bait, it did not take long for the spies of Corondex and the Helix Syndicate to report that a hit was being planned on it.

The cargo vehicle was indeed ambushed but little did the assailants know that this was an ambush upon them. The vehicle was indeed disabled and stood there motionless as the vultures of Hra approached it with laughter as they believed that tons of weapons were know theirs. And they were going to be theirs had it not the vehicle been modified with flamethrowing tubes all around it.

To burning agony did the Rattataki sergeant Bal Kadyr send them when he hit the button on the remote triggering the flames on. Screams of pain beyond measure filled the previous silence and happy mood. Most of the 24 were disgusted and quickly double tapped their rifles to end the attackers' pain. When that was done, Kadyr reported back to Saigo of a successful mission. He dared not dispute the General's methods.

A NEW FRONTIER
ORBIT
VORZYD V

In war it was essential that one disrupts the enemy's supply lines. Logistics won wars, Saigo knew that perfectly. He and Vitor had concluded that there was something bigger at play here. The cells were well armed and coordinated. Believing that they were coordinated by one person while being supplied by someone bigger, Saigo focused informant efforts on finding that out.

During that time Corondex was still under numerous attacks here and there.

When rumors turned into facts, Saigo quickly brought the 24 men to him. The grizzled veterans had be instructed that a lone ship in orbit acts as a supply depot for Hra's forces below. It would be the 24's first space boarding mission. Some were not big fans of space, other did not care. In the end, money talked and the Wraiths had a job to do.

The supplying ship, as expected, was not armed or well defended. It simply did not expect someone would find out its true identity. When the Wraiths stormed in, the mission was quick and easy with no additional alarms raised. The boarding was reported as an accidental collision to the local authorities and no one knew better.

Saigo knew that disabling this ship would ease the tension faced down for Corondex. And indeed Vitor would see much less reports of attacks and assaults in the future.

What troubled Avendahl was not Hra anymore as much as what the Wraiths had found out on the besieged ship.

It belonged to the Commonality. The local government.

Vitor knew that this was just a beginning of a war with a bigger and more powerful enemy.

A new frontier.
