A new form of energy shielding created for the upcoming, updated Helix Navy, the Primacy is design to capitalize on lessons learned from earlier generations of Helix's shielding systems.
The Primacy is designed to operate alongside Storm Iron-armored hulls, and without them will lose most of its useful qualities, simply functioning as well-made but standard shielding.
When utilized as intended, however, the Primacy system projects a multiphase thermal shielding bubble around its parent vessel. Like the earlier Bastille and Palisade systems, the Primacy is capable of briefly lowering protection around missile and torpedo systems to enable them to be used with thermal shielding active. It in most manners retains all the other benefits of the Bastille, including the ability to convert the kinetic/thermal energy from incoming fire into more power for its parent vessel's shielding, engines, and weapon systems. As such, a ship bearing this system gradually becomes more dangerous and durable the more fire it sustains, at least to a point.
More interestingly, the Primacy interacts curiously with the Storm Iron found in most Helix ship hulls. When active, the ship will visibly be surrounded by a translucent purple energy field, inside which crackles a haze of cyan-hued lightning. These energies arc from the ship to the interior of the shield bubble, greatly reinforcing its protective potential.
This lends these ships an ethereal, almost hellish appearance when they snap out of hyperspace, as each is surrounded by sizzling electro-plasma and flickering protective shielding.
These fields can protect the vessel from energy, projectiles, or most any other form of known external attack. Though the outer shielding bubble possesses tiny vulnerable areas while projectile/launcher weapons are in operation, this weakness is at least slightly alleviated by the Primacy. Any weapon that manages to find its way past the outer shell may find itself hampered by the ravening energies inside the shell. Nonetheless, this weakness does still exist, and should the parent vessel wish to fire such weapons, it must still lower their defenses briefly.
Most unusually, this system produces something of a repelling, outward charge. An energy bolt or projectile striking the field at just the right angle can find itself redirected into another nearby vessel, or even back at its firer.

- Reacts with Storm Iron hulls
- Wide-ranging protection
- Galvanized: The Primacy retains the Bastille's energy conversion system, enabling its parent vessel to become faster, tougher, and possessed of greater firepower the more damage it sustains.
- Unyielding: The Primacy system's protection is as powerful as it is versatile, rendering such vessels capable of withstanding sustained, omnidirectional bombardments.
- Mirror Magic: Rarely, the Primacy system can reflect a shot back at its firer.
- Unpowered: Most of the Primacy's more unusual benefits require its parent vessel to have a specific hull makeup.
- Undermined: While it does minimize this weakness compared to its forbears, the Primacy does nonetheless hinder launcher/projectile weapons, and must briefly create "gaps" in its defenses for these weapons to fire.
