How Does Your Garden Grow? [SJO]

Halls of Healing
Silver Rest, Kashyyyk
Celeste Rigel adored the gardens of Silver Rest, but she had long hoped to have a Healer's Garden near the Halls of Healing. So, she was very pleased when she had been approached by a fellow healer, [member="Maya Carrick"]. Back on Voss, the Master Healer had had quite a wonderful garden escape, full of healing plants and... peach trees. Master Carrick had requested to re-create this special place here at Silver Rest – a request that Celeste was more than happy to see fulfilled.

There was a new space cleared near the Halls of Healing now, and a bed of fresh soil awaited.

The plants – ranging from ordinary to very exotic – had just been delivered. And, small saplings, along with larger trees, were ready to go into the ground. A pile of river rock sat at the ready as well, some of them were even force sensitive stones, for which Celeste had designed a 'labyrinth.' This path of stones would wind, allowing for walking meditation. Things really were coming together.

She had put out a call to her fellow healers to come help today – and she had opened up the invitation to anyone at Silver Rest that had an interest in plants... or simply wanted to lend a helping hand for the day. There would be a simple lunch and refreshments provided, she hoped that would sweeten the deal for anyone willing to get their hands dirty.

A visit to the new gardens sounded like a fun expedition. She had heard that Master Rigel had constructed something similar to Voss, though Kat had little reference to go on, she was excited to see the new garden. It was also a chance to meet Master Rigel and thank her for the opportunity to learn some healing skills at the hospital. Wandering to the garden, Kat took a look around, holding hands with her niece Lily whom she was looking after for the day. Lily was two now and Kat couldn't believe how smart her little niece was already. There were no signs of a Force connection but Kat was trying to get her into tech and building tech.

However, Rose would often try stepping, not wanting her daughter to be as messy as Kat was. But even Rose thought a day at the gardens would be nice for Lily so let Kat get away with taking Lily out. She pointed out the flowers, telling Lily the different names and colours of them. Also pointing out the stones and other items in the gardens. Kat then spotted Master Rigel and waved to the Jedi Master, whispering to Lily who she was waving to. Lily waved with a smile on her face.

"Hewwo Mooster Ridgey!" Lily called out which caused Kat to shake her head.

"Sorry Master Rigel, Lily still learning her pronouncation." Kat apologised with a bow of her head.

Losing is tempoary, giving up is permanent.
The art of healing was an aspect of the force she was already familiar with, but extra training and learning certain skills was always an option. Besides it allowed a chance to interact with other members of the other. Such powers were also very useful in the event someone needed to be saved, her own abilities giving quite the good protection against most life threatening injuries, bot not everyone was an energy vampire. Striding over the grassy grounds the young Knight took in a big breath, enjoying the natural feel of the gardens as she approached the meeting area for the lessons.

Already her eyes spotting Kat greeting [member="Celeste Rigel"], the cyborg becoming quite a regular among the group lessons, though she had yet to properly talk with the mechanical girl outside of classes. Getting closer she gave the two a small bow, hands neatly folded in their opposing sleeves. "Good day [member="Kat Decoria"], greetings master Rigel". Her voice carrying it's usual usual polite tone as her head rose back up from the bow but not before noting the small child next to Kat.

"And who might this little adorable bunch of fun be"? Her eyes casting down to Lily.

When it raines, it pours.
Instead of going back to her quarters and sleeping the day away like she usually did after working night shift in the Halls of Healing, Samara took a quick shower, ate a light breakfast, then made her way out to the project area.

The Silver Rest gardens were the Liann's favorite place on the temple grounds. Well, even made more special to her as that is where she'd met [member="Tyrell Caphey"] during a meet and greet a little over a year ago. Since that time, the Antarian Ranger and Jedi Healer had fallen in love. Samara couldn't think of a better way to spend her time off than helping the Chief Healer [member="Celeste Rigel"] make the gardens even more serene and beautiful.

As the honey blonde arrived on the spot, there were others already gathered ready to give a hand. If they got enough volunteers, the new garden would be finished in no time. It reminded Samara briefly of the flower garden the Jedi planted on Voss. She was just a padawan then... It seemed like a lifetime ago.

"Good Morning, Master Rigel... What a perfect day you've picked to plant this new garden," Sam smiled warmly at her mentor, then the Knight turned to [member="Kat Decoria"] and [member="Sky'ito Yumi"] and greeted them as well; sea green orbs taking in a young girl with one of them.

Children are so precious. Maybe one day with Ty...

"Hello," she offered with a friendly cant of her golden head. "I don't believe we've met... I'm Samara Raine."

The gardens, the tranquility. The peacefulness. It was all so- foreign. So alien. That peace, the lightness of the air. The way the breeze blew. The pleasant smell in the air.
So new.
Thal walked through the garden. His dress had become somewhat more modest, less of the protective clothing that he usually wear. A habit born of the Red Tower- even the slave pens were dangerous. He was now becoming more at ease, at least, not having to defend himself from people trying to steal his food every time he was eating. And Thal liked to eat. A lot. They fed him well, with each victory. Might explain how he was 6'6 and overall a very muscular individual. Big and bulky.

He was told that there would be help needed in the garden- and so he showed. He knew that change would not come easily, and he needed to put himself out there if he was really going to let go of what kept him chained to his past. That rage, that anger-

He stopped thinking about it, when his foot brushed a stone. Peculiar in it's makeup, he crouched near it. He studied it for a long while, before picking it up and running his thumb over it. And it was like as if a heavy blanket was placed over him, tranquil and warm. Children. He heard children. He stood at the edge of the garden, uneasy about going further for the moment. For now, he was content to take in the serenity, color, and grandiose of the garden.

Turning, Celeste smiled upon seeing [member="Kat Decoria"]. And, that smile only grew upon seeing young Lily. As the two approached, Celeste gave the small girl an enthusiastic wave. Lily's greeting drew out a small chuckle, my how she missed that. Now, her own son was nearing four... his grasp of basic was much better.

“Hello there,” she said, keeling down to greet Lily warmly. She glanced up at Kat and waved away the young woman's apology. “Not to worry, she's learning.”

Standing back to her full height, she nodded to [member="Sky'ito Yumi"]. “Good day to you, thanks for coming.”

Next, she was very pleased to see [member="Samara Raine"] join them. Hmm, but hadn't the young healer just finished up a night shift? “Good to see you, Samara. Yes, quite a lovely day – and a good turn out, if I say so myself.”

As introductions began between the group, Celeste gave them a small nod to excuse herself. She set out a tray of Nysilin plants, just like those that grew on Felucia – the jungle world. That planet was far from their space now, so these small plant starts had been cultivated in a nursery, not in the jungle. Still, she hoped they could get them to thrive here in the garden on Kashyyyk.

And, out of the corner of her eye, she spotted [member="Thal"] ... but really, he was quite hard to miss.

In one of the trees, on a branch just above the gathering, perched an owl. Due to the time of day, it might have seemed a bit of an odd thing, but surely not TOO odd. Until one looked a little closer. And realized that the owl was wearing both a pair of tinted goggles and a rather grumpy expression.

Why did they always insist on doing these things in the middle of her sleep cycle? Mariel WANTED to help with these things, but usually they were just too late for her to stay up for. She wanted to help. But she was just so darn tired from getting up early to be here that for now, all she could manage was to sit, all fluffed up, grumpily on a branch.

For a little while she just watched the others. Presumably. With the tinted goggles it was honestly a bit difficult to tell exactly what she was looking at.

Finally she clacked her beak, and with a huff that might have been trying to let go of the grump or might have been sucking it in, she spread her wings. Shaking out her feathers, she dropped off of the branch, winging silently down to one of the cleared patches of dirt. A ruffle, another clack, and she started scratching a hole in the soft earth. Looking up, then down again, trying to gauge how big the pots were and how big the holes would need to be.

Clack of annoyance and she hopped over to where the various pots were, head tipping this way and that before holding up one wing to get a measurement. Then, once she was satisfied, hopping back over and resuming her scratching.

As more people arrived, they came over and greeted Kat and Lily, Lily was loving the attention, being more extroverted like her mother than introverted like Kat was especially as a child. Lily jumped around and showed off her little waddle that she did when walking as she was still learning. "Aunty Katty, look, pretty flowwers!" Lily called out as she went around and pointed out the different flowers to Kat. Kat groaned, she hated being called Aunty Katty but it was the best that Lily could do at the moment, she just prayed that no one else decided to use that name for her. If they did, she swore she would beat them up.

Looking over to Sky, Kat smiled, "Hello, this is Lily, my sister's daughter." Kat smiles to unfamiliar face, "Hi, I'm Kat Decoria. Nice to meet you Samara." She inclined her head politely to the Jedi Knight, she spotted a couple of other people joining them in the garden. Kat made sure to keep an eye on Lily but let her wander around, that was till she heard Lily call out loudly, "AUNTY KATTY! LOOK LOOK, I FOUND BIG BIRDY!" Lily shouted really pleased with herself as Kat blushed slightly.

"Lily, be polite and no shouting. That is a person not a bird." Kat tried to teach Lily.
