MEMBERSHIP
There are hundreds of families that are part of House Vesnam. The two major families in this house are Zannil and the Raith. All the families of House Vesnam are very different. For example, members of the Zannil family enjoy the high profile lifestyle and love to have people do things for them. They are the richest family on Kinoss and live out that lifestyle. Only recently have they gotten on the “crime” bandwagon with Raith and other Vesnam families.

Members of the Raith family are very different. The Raiths came from nothing on the streets of Kinoss. They were a small family that used to be in the transportation business. Competitors put them completely out of business. Having a survival mindset, the Raith family turned to crime. As time passed, the Raith family rose back into prominence through the credits gained from their illegal enterprises. Now, they have led the charge for House Vesnam to be the biggest underworld player in the Chiss Ascendancy. Children of the Raith family are given a life of privilege until their 6th birthday, however, they are also taught basic survival skills to live in an “urban jungle”: sleight of hand, verbal deception, evade/escape techniques, basic self-defense, etc.. At that point, they go through a rite of passage, often the children do not survive. The parents of the Raith child will dump them off on a planet with no credits, no supplies or anything. They will be told they must survive for two weeks. As they get older, they will go through another rite of passage. They will be dumped on a planet and told to survive—for a year. Usually, this is right after the child is into puberty. Often, Raith children will not survive this experience. They are tracked for the entire time they are gone, so they never go missing, but some will occasionally die during these rites…

Blood Born – Blood Born are heirs for the Aristocracy and by Chiss Law MUST be Chiss. Blood Born are further identiified by the nature of their blood relation to the current Aristocra (Sibling, Cousin, etc.).

Trial Born – Each Chiss House has a process for determining for when Merit Adoptives may be promoted to reflect their dedication to the Chiss House. Such sentients are said to have been “Born to Trial” and are known a Trial Born. Each House varies in the privileges and responsibilities, but every House expects more from its Trial Born than its Merit Adoptives.

Merit Adoptive – Those who have applied or have been invited into a Chiss House are known as Merit Adoptive. The ranks and privileges vary from House to House, but every merit adoptive is recognized as a House Member. Many Chiss Houses have been known to grant this rank to Non-Chiss.

If you wish to join House Vesnam, no matter the family, feel free to PM Mithias for more information on how we can work you in!

CLIMATE
Appearance is everything. Even though House Vesnam is a major player in the Chiss underworld, you would never know it. The families of this house are gracious and helpful, but make no mistake—they are manipulators and often, unscrupulous. Intrigue is afoot everywhere. With House Vesnam rooted so deep in the criminal underworld and CEID, secrets are layered everywhere. Trust is a rare commodity, but it is found more often within the family unit. However, House Vesnam is as tight a House as it comes because they cannot afford to make mistakes or the Chiss Ascendancy may not turn a blind eye to their illegitimate activities any longer. Recently, House Vesnam has been secretly infighting as it seeks more independence from the Eclipse Consoritum

REPUTATION
From the outside, members of the ruling houses have begun to keep an eye on House Vesnam. Their meteoric rise in power, wealth and influence has not been seen in a long time. Most of the Ruling Houses suspect their illegal activities, but have not deemed it a threat to their house. It is also rumored that the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet (CEDF) utilizes House Vesnam and their unique position. As such, many of the Ruling Houses have left them alone…for now. House Vesnam is cordial to all the Ruling Houses, but has taken in interest in the smaller, more obscure houses, building their influence with the many Lesser Houses. Chiss either respect, fear or hate House Vesnam…there rarely any opinions in the middle. As a result of this distrust, they were passed over as a Ruling House and believe it was due to their association with Eclipse Consortium. House Vesnam is now distancing themselves from Eclipse Consortium and Malicar.

CURIOS
Often, members of House Vesnam are tattooed all over their body—in places that cannot be seen in uniform. While this is not a distinguishing feature of their house, it is commonly found among them. House Vesnam may at times employ a pin or insignia if appropriate. Their symbol is deep purple in color, but that does not mean the members will wear that color.

RULES
House Vesnam is very serious about loyalty. If there is betrayal, it is a rare instance that it does not end in the death of the traitor. Secrecy is paramount in House Vesnam and exposing their criminal enterprise is seen as an offense deserving death. The house has worked too hard to build their criminal empire to tolerate indiscretion.

GOALS
House Vesnam is an ambitious Lesser House. They aspire to become one of the Ruling Houses and have a seat on the Aristocra. In addition, they wish to build their criminal empire to expand well beyond the borders of Chiss Space and slowly take over other criminal enterprises across the galaxy. They wish to do this for credits, power, influence, to become a Ruling House and to put the Chiss Ascendancy in a position of power using their own influence. They are now secretly wishing to cut all ties to Eclipse Consortium. A secret war has begun between the non-criminal members of House Vesnam and the Eclipse Consortium.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
House Vesnam had been a Lesser House for centuries. However, it had been a major player in the Chiss Expansionary Intelligence Division (CEID) since its inception, next to only House Quylen in its influence in that area. However, two centuries ago, it was discovered that there were many traitors among House Vesnam’s agents within the CEID. Many families, who had no traitors among their number, joined together and made it their mission to hunt down and kill every one of them. They did so in a ruthless, public fashion. But House Vesnam had lost favor with the Ruling Houses, who left them to dry and flounder following the fallout. It could have been the end of House Vesnam, but they were families of survivors. Their primary sources of funding began to dry up, their members were not accepted into the CEID, and they were all treated as traitors for some time. This caused House Vesnam to do whatever it took to come out ahead following this dark period of time. With little choice, all the families left in House Vesnam, turned to crime. It turned out that House Vesnam had found something they excelled at outside of intelligence…

At a meteoric pace, House Vesnam began rising from obscurity and into relevance. One by one, House Vesnam began dismantling small crime syndicates within the Chiss Ascendancy or forcing them to come under heel. As the credits rolled in from their illegitimate enterprises, so too did their influence. Using every method at their disposal, including blackmail, assassination, forgery and fraud, House Vesnam began repopulating the CEID with their House members. In time, House Vesnam carried the most influence in the CEID next to House Quylen. As their influence in the CEID increased, so too did the reach of their criminal activities.

A Lesser House known as House Jurlann also made forays into the criminal underworld. They were given a governorship of Kinoss. House Vesnam wanted that planet for themselves. Through a series of maneuvers and schemes that lasted over a decade, House Jurlann found themselves bankrupt, their criminal enterprise destroyed, and key members of their leadership suffering a series of unfortunate accidents. With riots beginning to occur and the people dissatisfied with a government that could not support its people, the Ruling Houses made the call to take Kinoss from House Jurlann. Through a series of backdoor deals, House Vesnam was chosen to take over Kinoss, becoming the “saviors” of that planet.

A century has passed since House Vesnam was granted Kinoss. The planet has prospered and House Vesnam has done a commendable job protecting the hyperspace lanes going through their system for the CEDF. This has gained favor with the Ruling Houses, but moreso with the CEDF, especially with the number of agents in the CEID.

Many whisper that it is a matter of time before House Vesnam makes a play for a spot among the Ruling Houses.

Recently, they were passed over as a Ruling House. Governor Okunn, Syndic and ruler of House Vesnam, has now begun a secret war with the Eclipse Consortium in order to cut ties and distance themselves from the Chiss underworld organization...
