The Lion King rules Midvinter from the city of Heavenheim, capital of Westmark. Succeeding his older brother Thyrian following the Great War, Thurion has since reconciled his adherence to the Jedi ideals with his duty to his people, arguing that if he cannot serve the galaxy as its protector, then he will devote himself to the world of his ancestors. Greatly diminished by the loss of his beloved wife, he has come to lean ever more on his two sons for support, both capable and honourable men in their own right. Following the example set by his blessed father and continued by his brother, Thurion strives for the complete unification of Midvinter and its many peoples, devoting the time he has left to prepare them for worst the galaxy has to offer should he not be there to defend them.

As firstborn son of the Lion, Théodred embodies his father's Jedi ideals and strong sense of duty to his people, having served Midvinter loyally as a lord in his own right for many years prior to Thurion's ascension to the throne. Naming him as his heir apparent followed in short order, for Théodred's fame as an inspiring presence and caring lord rivaled that of the Lion himself. As Right Hand of the King, he is an extension of his father's will, acting as an ambassador and unifying symbol for the next generation. He has increasingly shouldered responsibilities in recent years, noticing the light behind his father's eyes fade a little more each day, and serves as regent whenever the Lion journeys offworld or is otherwise indisposed. And when the time comes, be it soon or late, he will do his father proud.

Thirdas Heavenshield

The younger of the two, Thirdas in his youth embarked on a decades long search for his own saga among the stars. A born warrior utterly ferocious and unyielding in battle, Thirdas has since returned home wiser than he once was and pledged himself to his father. Being no Jedi sworn to an unbreakable code, as well as no stranger to getting his hands dirty, he finds himself able to do what his father and brother cannot not for fear of sullying the family name. He became the Left Hand of the King; the dagger in the dark, dealing in secrets and the clandestine. A spymaster, and should the situation demand it, an assassin delivering death to his father's enemies. His meagre ambitions already met, he will be the first to swear fealty to his brother when the day comes.

Nina Heavenshield

Although adopted by Thurion at a young age, Nina is considered his firstborn child in all but blood. She grew up idolising her adoptive father and was raised a Jedi alongside her brother Théodred in the early days of House Heavenshield. Possessing of an inner calm and an inquisitive nature, she has traveled the length and breadth of Midvinter many times chronicling the history of its lands and peoples, and has gone on to serve as the first High Loremaster of the College of Enlightenment. To her father, Nina has become his primary source of emotional support since the departure of his wife. She was the first to be at his side; none now living understands him better, and she will do anything to help shoulder the burden and soothe his grief-stricken soul.

Bors Greythorne

The oldest living Valkyri to date, Bors of House Greythorne was once the sworn brother of Thurion's father Thrand and a hero of the Dawnbringer Rebellion. He was lost for many years following the untimely death of his old friend, until one day he resurfaced to pledge allegiance to House Heavenshield. Now hailed as Uncle Bors by his adoptive family, the old boar has served as Heavenheim's seneschal with a steady hand in spite of his venerable age. Cantankerous and stoic notwithstanding, there is no finer organiser of men and master of logistics on the planet. His sole purpose is to be of service to the blood of his brother for the handful of good years he has left before Grey-Boar and Grey-Wolf are reunited in the hallowed halls of Beornskald. There, he will regale the gods of the deeds of the Lion.
