Current head of House Halor. A Quilan-born Atoan, Kalo oversees the family's major interests and maintains a close involvement with Halor Mercantile at the strategic level. Polished and commercially experienced, he represents the more traditional public face of the House.

Nemi Halor

Kalo's wife and one of the central figures within the immediate family. Born on Atoa, Nemi spent part of her youth preparing for a religious life before choosing another path. Her own experience has left her strongly inclined to allow her children the same freedom of choice.

Vira Halor

The eldest child of Kalo and Nemi, and the recognised heir to House Halor. Vira has taken naturally to the responsibilities of family stewardship and has become increasingly involved in the commercial affairs surrounding Halor Mercantile.

Tavo Halor

The younger child of Kalo and Nemi. Tavo pursued martial training from a young age before entering military service with the Grand Army of the High Republic, eventually reaching the rank of Lieutenant. His later career has begun to take him toward public and diplomatic service rather than the management of the family business.


HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Halor family's earliest roots on Quila lie in trade rather than politics. Their ancestors were Atoans who settled on the ocean world generations ago and became involved in the movement of goods between Quilan communities and offworld markets.

What began as merchant work gradually developed into something more permanent. The Halors invested in procurement, storage and distribution, building relationships with suppliers and local customers rather than chasing rapid expansion elsewhere in the galaxy. Reliability became the family's most useful asset. Over time, those commercial interests developed into what would eventually become Halor Mercantile.

Wealth brought the family influence, though their entry into Quila's aristocratic circles was gradual. There was no single conquest, political appointment or spectacular rise to prominence. The Halors accumulated property, formed relationships with other established families, contributed to local institutions and increasingly participated in civic life. By the time they were recognised as one of Quila's minor noble houses, they had already been part of the planet's commercial landscape for generations.

Their Atoan origins remained part of the family's identity throughout that process, though never as a requirement for belonging. Successive generations married beyond the original bloodline, and the wider family today includes a number of different ancestries. The Halors nevertheless remained Quilan in outlook. For most members of the modern family, Quila is home and Atoa is an ancestral connection rather than a lost homeland.

The present main branch is somewhat unusual in being entirely Atoan. Kalo Halor was born and raised on Quila but travelled to Atoa as a young man, where he met Nemi while she was still preparing for a future within the Atoan religious tradition. Their eventual marriage was personal rather than dynastic, and Nemi returned with Kalo to Quila.

Their children came to represent two very different expressions of the same family expectations. Vira gravitated toward stewardship, commerce and the responsibilities that would eventually come with leading the House. Tavo showed little interest in inheriting a place within Halor Mercantile and instead developed an intense interest in martial training before pursuing military service.

Neither path was regarded as more legitimate than the other.

That attitude remains central to the modern House. The Halors possess considerable advantages and make use of them freely, but they have little patience for the idea that privilege should exist solely for comfort.
