• Climate: Incredibly dry and cold

  • Primary Terrain: The entire planet has been smoothed over with a system of hexagonal cities built over it covering the entire surface of the planet.

  • Atmosphere: Type IV (Nothing but industrial and toxic gases) except in Hex-0001 where it is a Type I atmosphere.
LOCATION INFORMATION

  • Capital City: Hex-0001

  • Planetary Features: Massive hexagonal cities most of which are massive computers holding incredibly vast amounts of data and processing power. Very few of these hexagons are dedicated to the non-virtual world, those which are dedicated to the physical world consists of parks, residential areas, markets, and factories.

  • Major Locations:

Hex-0001: Hex-0001 is the hexagonal city located on the absolute north pole of the planet. It is notable as it is the only place on the planet with a Type I atmosphere, held within a force field deployed over Hex-0001. The atmosphere contained in Hex-0001 can change due to a central terraforming tower capable of processing the atmosphere and designing it to suit the needs of a majority of species, even capable of filling the hex with water.

Hex-0001 is the only hex on the planet designed to support organic life, and is the most like organic cities. Skyscrapers filled with office space, residential areas, cafes scattered about, even a large central park filled with synthetic trees, grass, and a few synthetic animals. The purpose of Hex-0001 is a platform to interact with the rest of the galaxy. It is supposed to be the place for embassies, foreign companies, and even tourists.

POPULATION

  • Native Species: Chrons

  • Immigrated Species: N/A

  • Population: Sparse

  • Demographics: 99% Chron, 1% Assorted

  • Primary Languages: Chronian Biduary

  • Culture:

What few Chrons exist on the planet serve one of three roles: Maintenance for the massive complex of automated factories and computers, as Soldiers manning any ships in orbit or part of the ground forces incase of any sort of invasion, or as scientists carrying out the technological whims of The Collective.

Outside of their duties much of their lives are similar to that of organics. They spend their free time socializing, reading, and even adventuring off world. Yet they all return to Hope to continue their assigned tasks when it is time to complete them.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY

  • Government: The Collective: Within the computer banks are billions of uploaded consciousnesses existing in a digital world, each able to communicate with the rest in microseconds. Mundane decisions tend to be made by the trusted Chrons in the physical world, but decisions which would affect The Collective as a whole are given up to a vote. Only when 70% of The Collective vote for a single option will it be enacted. Often whole debates will take place through the network of computers and consciousnesses to resolve the problem, most of which take mere seconds but the longest took a complete hour.

  • Affiliation: Itself

  • Wealth: Poor: Chrons care little for material wealth or the galactic market, producing all their needs on Hope and distributing it equally among the Chrons who have physical form.

  • Stability: High: Chrons with physical form are the absolute paragons of the philosophy of The Collective and are absolutely dutiful to its will. Any rebellions Chrons exist solely within the digital space of the computers and are regulated to prevent any sort of escape or sabotage.

  • Freedom & Oppression: Physical Chrons are completely free, trusted absolutely that whatever they do they do for the greater good of The Collective. Organics on the world are heavily restricted to Hex-0001 unless specifically given permission to travel elsewhere and always under armed guard. Even within Hex-0001 organics are under constant surveillance, with drones and armed Chrons ready to rush in and “pacify” any trouble doers.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY

  • Military: The planet is heavily guarded, with a planetary shield with twelve generators scattered across the planet to support it. Hundreds of planet to space canons are scattered across the planet, as well as hundreds of anti-air guns, hangar bays, and ground support drones. There are several factories designed for the assembling of Chron frames to supply more intelligent independent soldiers in a crisis, drawing from reserve consciousnesses within The Collective. Not to mention that the planet is surrounded by a nebula that tends to mess with ship communications, sensors, and targeting relays.

  • Technology: The technology of Hope is incredibly advanced and evolving constantly.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The history of Hope starts with those who named it: A scientific expedition of several races looking for a place away from the prying eyes of governments to build a utopia based on rational thought and logic. It flourished in its early years, a scientific socialist utopia. However, the scientists could not maintain a steady population with their small numbers and their dream seemed to slowly be coming to an end. It was then that they mastered the ability to transfer one’s mind into an android vessel. This effectively got them as close to immortality as possible, although these android bodies could still be destroyed, malfunction, and tended to wear down with prolonged use (usually around 250 years). The androids tended to be able to upload the digital consciousness back to the network as a fail safe, keeping them alive. Yet these programs were not infallible, tending to slowly grow corrupted over a 500 year time span, and even faster if they ever became corrupted with viruses or attacked by slicers. These clones were however imperfect, with each new iteration memories were lost and the new clone often had a different personality or views on many topics. Yet this came with its own problem: Now their population had permanently stagnated and they didn’t have the necessary skills or resources to construct autonomous androids, lacked the funds to purchase them off the galactic market, and felt it immoral to clone the consciousness of an individual into multiple bodies. So they continued as they had for nearly a hundred years. They found several benefits of their new forms, the chief one being that they had to spend significantly less time in upkeep of their bodies. No farming, acquiring things to drink, no need for the sealed environmental buildings they had been using, the only need they had was energy. This became a symbol of pride for the colony, and soon developed into a philosophy of only using what was necessary. This philosophy slowly grew until they realized one key aspect of the universe that most societies tended to ignore: The fact that the universe is finite.

At some point in the future sapient life will use every resource available in the known universe, and their existence would come to an abrupt end. Time for all the races was finite. Even if this could never be solved, it could certainly be postponed through rationing of resources and the limiting of life. Genocide, however, was not an option and it was decided in a unanimous vote that it never would be. Instead, the scientists, now calling themselves The Technocrats, sent ships out into the galaxy bringing like minded individuals back to Hope, transforming them, and slowly building their numbers. Yet it slowly became apparent that this slow growth would never see their philosophy proliferating throughout the galaxy in order to preserve it. They stepped up their recruitment efforts and began buying slaves from the Hutts and other criminal elements of the Outer Rim, converting them into androids with limited autonomy until they prove themselves. This workforce and their new infamy spreading across the galaxy slowly saw their empire spread across the planet hex by hex by hex. Soon they would begin raiding planets, stealing thousands of individuals to turn into a workforce. Yet it was justified, they were saving the galaxy. This need for a workforce slowly became mundane and unnecessary as they began to automate more of their systems, yet they began uploading them into a virtual paradise where resources were infinite and they could live their lives how they did before but with no risk of death, disease, famine, or lack of resources at all. Slowly saving the galaxy one life at a time.

They would stay mostly isolationist for most of their existence, only leaving to raid or recruit prominent individuals in galactic society. However, something happened that they did not expect at all: Volunteers. Many, especially the unfortunate, began to flock to their world seeking to be integrated into their utopia. They brought credits, ships, and even technology in order to pay their way into paradise. This development was soon welcomed with open arms, and the refitting of Hex-0001 was started to house them as they came and awaited processing. Soon companies began to sprout up there, serving the locals with food and goods from across the galaxy, governments began to pay visits to the planet to make deals, usually having to do with the transferring of all prisoners to the newly named Collective in exchange for a non-aggression pact to stop their raiding. Even now they begin the refitting of Hex-0002 as they prepare to set up a network of ships to ferry escaped slaves, the impoverished, or those with nothing else to live for from across the galaxy to their little world, vastly boosting their numbers.

Within the most recent of years, a new faction has started to grow within The Collective. Calling themselves The Singularity they are far more authoritarian, purist, and violent in nature believing that only the worthy should ascend while the rest should be euthanized or even directly purged. The Singularity was originally formed by one of the founding scientists of the expedition, who's consciousness has been living within the great databanks of Hope. He preaches that the original mission that the expedition set out on was never about saving the whole galaxy, but saving the most intelligent and most moral, pointing out that everyone of the original settlers and even the people invited to join over the 50 years after were all high ranking scientists or people of extreme worth. He says that since more and more people have joined The Collective the more diluted this cause has become, and that only he and The Singularity can pull The Collective back to its true goal. This faction makes up a good 10% of the population of The Collective, and if it were to grow too powerful it may become such a powerful voting bloc that it could begin to influence The Collective's decisions.

The only thing that I see would perhaps be to link the technology sub for the Chrons once that is up and ready to go. Otherwise, it's a fascinating concept and I really like what you have here! It will be cool to see how they develop.

Greetings! As always, lovely submission, but we have just a few things to go over.

1.) Region: Outer Rim - This should be linked.

2.) Location: It took me a moment to realize that one of the dots was brighter than the rest. You do want the planet to be located at the bottom of that screen cap - Correct?

3.) Unexploited Resources: Chron Frame - Unfortunately, this is not an unexploited resource. The materials to create the Chron Frame may be considered a resource, though, it would hardly be unexploited if the general population is utilizing them for a synthetic body. If you intended to sell them for other purposes they could be considered an export but that doesn't seem the case either. Mention of it, in this section, should be removed.

4.) Atmosphere: This should be noted as "Type IV" somewhere due to the following definition.

From Here: "Type IV atmospheres were either toxic, flammable, extremely high pressure, or nonexistent; these types of atmospheres caused immediate incapacitation or death in most species of the galaxy. Few species could breathe in this type of atmosphere; planets with a Type IV atmosphere rarely support life."

5.) Uh...Atmosphere or no Atmosphere:

So - It seems to say that the planet itself has no atmosphere, however, there is a shield within Hex-0001 that provides an artificial atmosphere. May I suggest a "Habitation Dome" to facilitate this? I would also suggest making it more clear to avoid any confusion.

6.) Chrons/The Collective: In the "Government" section there are mentions of Chrons that can be uploaded. How does this work? Can they live in the network forever? This may be a question more relegated for the species sub, however, it is mentioned here specifically so I have to ask. If they do have the capacity to live forever I have to direct you to this rule:

There is also this quote from the Historical Section:
b744d658a3a611d34463e4303ff20362.png

This states "effectively earning immortality" and as you can see above from the Codex Standardized Rules - That is something we cannot have. This will need to be changed or re-worked so that the species is not immortal (alluded to, inferred, specifically stated, or otherwise) and references to that will need to be removed from this submission.

Otherwise - Nice job! Overall this is very creative and well thought out. We just need to go over the above items so we can get this approved. Thank you for working with me!

1.) Fixed

2.) Edited the picture a little bit to make it more obvious. But yes, I want it at the bottom.

3.) I did an oopsie, I meant for that to be located in the links section. Not entirely sure how it ended up there tbh.

4.) Edited and Fixed to a Type IV

5.) Cleared that up, made it easier to read.

6.) Effectively how it works is that the contents of their brain is downloaded and becomes a highly sophisticated AI with their thoughts, memories, knowledge, and personality. This could be argued to no longer be them but in the eyes of the Chron it's just a continuation, a kind of evolution. It should also be stated that this process kills the organic body of the individual being "Ascended" as they call it.

Fixed the part in the history, specified how the body breaks down over a period of time (250 years) and the conscious program slowly becomes corrupted over time as well (500 years assuming it's not tampered with by slicers or viruses). The times are a little intense but I feel easily doable for an advanced society such as the Chron. Feel free to tell me if you think it'd be better to dial those numbers back.

Also mentioned that a corrupted consciousness can be effectively replaced by a new one, constructed from the same memories and personality and all that. The individual dies but a new "clone" with all their memories continues on the legacy. Similarly to how many biologicals clone themselves.

[member="Myra"] | [member="Veino Garn"]

Thank you for going through to adjust all of that - I know it seemed like a lot.

You are correct in your thoughts that 500 years do seem a little intense, however, there are some species that are incredibly long lived without being an advanced society.

Also mentioned that a corrupted consciousness can be effectively replaced by a new one, constructed from the same memories and personality and all that. The individual dies but a new "clone" with all their memories continues on the legacy. Similarly to how many biologicals clone themselves.
This will need to be amended somehow. While you've added a limitation on how long their consciousness can last this notation here completely eliminates part of the proposed weakness. If they come corrupted they can simply be created anew with the same memories. As if nothing ever happened. There should definitely be some sort of lasting detriment.

Please be sure that any changes you make here are also reflected on the Species Submission too. We have to make sure they match to avoid confusion. I know this can be tedious because you've got several different judges looking this over, but, if you need clarification or a helping hand just let me know. It's an extra cool idea - Just need to make sure that all our ducks are in a row.

Thank you again!

Yea, I've been trying to keep the two coordinated.

I edited the text and specified that with each iteration memories are lost and the new clone often acts differently / believes different things. Making it more of a new person just with the memories of the deceased.

[member="Myra"] | [member="Veino Garn"]

That makes more sense. It provides enough differentiation that it's doable and doesn't seem to be skirting the line between "Mortal" and "Immortal".

I don't think I fully finished my thought above about 500 years. I meant to say - This is fine, even if it seems like a lot, because some species do it naturally anyway.

Otherwise - We're all set here. Good job! I look forward to seeing what you do with this in the future.

Approved.
