Fire. Kahlil raised a hand as the flame erupted, his brow knitted together in concentration. As Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex leapt back he made no move to follow. Instead, he focused on keeping the flames from spreading. The heat was beyond what it should be. Unnatural, like the being that created it. People had come to watch, just as Valery Noble Valery Noble feared. The match between the trio was too close on par, elongating the danger as people emerged from where they hid.

What did they think they would find? This was not their god, just some cultist, right?

The flames died down as he listened to the figures words. "No." Kahlil spoke calmly, turning his gaze as the saber extinguished. "The destiny He wants isn't what's going to happen. I'm going to stop Him. You and all who follow Him will see He's nothing more than a broken man who dived too deep into the Dark." Perhaps it really was the calmness of his companion that kept him from succumbing to the darkness around them. There were plenty of emotions that rushed through him, but none escaped him. Calm, serenity. If only he felt this when he saw his father the last time.

"Surrender and you will be spared."

Valery joined Kahlil at his side and looked up at the figure as he spoke about Kahlil's destiny. She had known for some time now that his father would eventually come looking for him again, and it finally seemed the time had come. But there was no way she'd allow that to happen. Whoever this figure was, he was going to leave empty-handed.
Watching Kahlil disengage his lightsaber was quite surprising because of it - she wasn't going to drop her guard at all, and kept the purple blade ignited. Everything about her body language showed that she was ready to engage again.
But then Kahlil spoke.
"Surrender and you will be spared."

Valery blinked and briefly sideglanced at her boyfriend, but decided against speaking against this offer - that would be a discussion for another time, in a more appropriate setting. Not that it mattered too much; she wasn't expecting this figure to surrender at all.
"But don't try anything," she decided to add.
"He's not coming with you, nor will he join his father. His destiny has changed." She looked at Kahlil again but this time with a smile. Nothing was going to tear what they created together apart, she wouldn't allow it. In her mind, there was no chance that she'd lose the man she loved to the Dark Side or his corrupted father.

"His destiny had been decided the moment he drew breath, the more he struggles against it the tighter it binds him."

The dark figure began to lift his left arm, hand reaching up with probing fingers to grasp the edges of the golden mask obscuring his face. With a slight hiss, the mask detached and pulled away from the figure's face. Yet, all their features were still clouded in shadow and were indiscernible regardless of how much light was projected.

He flipped the mask over in his hand, the stoic golden visage peering back at eyes that glinted with a distinct scarlet glimmer. He then tossed the mask down to the ground, the item bouncing and then sliding to a stop right at Kahlil's feet.

"If you think that you can break the chains that bind you to this destiny by stumbling blindly in the light." The figure reached back and withdrew the hood that covered his face, the shadows finally dissipating as he did. What was revealed would've been a great shock to the wayward son of Kaine Zambrano, for it was the face of his father that stared back at him. But in an unsettling way, it was not the face of his father. Absent were the scars and ritual ink that had adorned his face for as long as Kahlil could remember, and his eyes were not that distinctive red in black that haunted his dreams.

"Then keep doubting, Kahlil Zambrano, for you will never rest easy again."

Shadows enveloped the dark figure and when they dissipated he was gone.

But his words remained.

Just another cultist. That's what Kahlil thought this was. His gaze remained on the cloaked figure, his eyes narrowed in focus. Ready for a trick, a trap. Yet as Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex lowered his hood, the truth was there. The darkness that had felt so familiar yet warped, like an echo or a copy, the familiar tone. All of it clicked into place. And immediately filled his heart with dread. He stared where the figure- no, his father had stood. What was this? Carnifex would never let himself be cloned, right? Nothing made sense.

It was a different voice that pulled him out of his confusion. A child stood before him, holding out the golden mask. Smiling like there wasn't just a demon carving through the streets. "The Two who were One have chosen you." Wordlessly the Jedi took the mask, and the child skipped away. Activity returned to the street, though he couldn't ignore the eyes on him. A third god. The third god. The whispers gave clarity. It was his father, or at least, part of his father.

".. We should go." He didn't look towards Valery Noble Valery Noble as he turned. Rumors would spread. His name had been spoken. A Zambrano. Whatever anonymity he had hoped to wander these streets in was gone.

Watching the mask come off. and seeing the hood lower was a strange thing. Valery hadn't met Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex before, so she wasn't overly familiar with the way he looked. But by his presence and because of Kahlil's reaction, even she understood that something very strange was going on. Something she couldn't begin to explain.
Valery also realized that this must be far more difficult for Kahlil, so she stepped closer towards him and looked up at his face, hoping she could be some form of support. But then the creepy kid appeared and gave Kahlil the mask the dark figure had worn. She frowned and reached to take his arm, but he turned and began to move without looking at her.
She was incredibly worried.
"Kahlil..." she said as she quickly moved after him.
"The mask, I.. don't think you should keep it. Let's destroy it and get out of here," she said. To the Jedi Shadow, it was essentially a Dark Side artifact, which meant it was dangerous. The idea of him keeping holding it, let alone taking it with him, she could not easily accept.

His gaze lowered to the object in his hand. For a moment he just stared. He recognized the letters. The language. "Bound, huh?" Kahlil's words were soft, spoken only to himself. Who was that? No, he knew the answer. His father. But not. What the child said stuck in the back of his mind. Two who were One. Did that mean even split his father's darkness was that powerful? That overwhelming? The mark on his back ached.

No, that should of been gone.

The exposure to the Dark of his father had it's effect. Not just the half that called itself Carnifex. But the other half. The two who were one. The original that had marked him as a child. Did that revive the mark? His expression steeled for a moment. Hardened with frustration. A frustration he'd force into a smile as he turned his gaze back towards Valery Noble Valery Noble . She was right. The mask did need to be destroyed.

"Yeah. Can you?" He held the golden mask aloft for her. He couldn't bring himself to destroy it. Doubt had already crept into the back of his mind.

Valery: Appearance
As his gaze turned to Valery with a forced smile, he'd see nothing but concern on her face. So much so that she couldn't return his smile with one of her own. Quietly, she nodded in response to his question and held up a hand while he presented the mask. She could feel the darkness from it and briefly frowned before her expression turned cold again.
Channeling the Force from within herself into the palm of her hand, a focal point of pure light formed that began to lash out at the darkness from the mask. She took a deep breath and began to direct more of this energy outwards. Wave after wave struck the darkness and began to push it back until it was finally purged.
Another soft breath escaped her before she looked up into Kahlil's silver eyes.
"Let's get out of here before anybody else shows up," she said as her arm lowered by her side. Her tone was unusually void of emotion, but the underlying tone still showed her concern.
