Back on the homefront.
Tallara had never been a fan of working with others. She was never a fan of working for Viceroyals. She was never a fan of going into a mission with little information. What a treat she was in for today...

The woman walked with a slight sway, the end of her tail moving in sync with the rest of her body. It was oddly mesmerizing; most rarely encountered humanoids with such features. Tallara never had in her many years of travel -- despite being unable to remember most of them -- met another with the same features. Every person was different, just like the Knights. That was what she so admired about the Knights Obsidian; the ability to bring extraordinary people together was something truly incredible.

She often thought about the extraordinary people she'd met among the Knights. So many masters and warriors of all kinds. So it was truly a surprise to see one she remembered after all this time. The woman had been told to meet her partner on this assignment in the armory; his shuttle had arrived only a few minutes ago. She'd thought she'd felt a familiar presence nearby, but she hadn't quite been able to place it before she entered the armory.

"Hashim?" It'd been a long time.

The Spiveralda.

The name was enough to bring a scowl to the Knight's face. When the modern Confederacy was much younger, one of its first ventures was to Secundus Ando. There, the native population had played a dangerous game with some of the nation's finest. Trapped were the Vicelord and his Exarchs. Made to speed date for the amusement of their holovision networks - lest they perished. The cadre of leaders of the world - the Spiveralda - were responsible for this atrocity. That generation had been...removed...shortly thereafter. And the Confederacy had hoped that was the end of their treachery.

It seemed as though they may have been mistaken.

In the present, the burden of ascertaining the nature of the threat had been given to the Knights Obsidian. As such, Hashim personally undertook the venture as well. As the armored man strode into the Armory, a datapad was clutched within his offhand. His helm located within the crook of his dominant arm. For a moment, he was alone in the space and took the time to devour as much information as possible about the operation. Sadly enough, even the Pathfinders' report was vague on details - not for lack of trying. That, in of itself, was cause for concern...

Hashim?

The voice was more than enough to rouse the man from his tunnel vision. It was not the fact that another had entered the room - for he had become more than accustomed to his peers addressing him right off the bat. Rather...it was the voice itself. Foggy memories jumped before his mind's eye, inspiring him to turn on his heel. There was only one like [member="Tallara"] in the Galaxy. Only one who had been plucked from the mouth of Hell itself like he, all that time ago. Much time had passed...yet here she was, in the flesh. Despite the scowl of duty, a smile managed to break through the decorum.

"Do my eyes deceive me? Tallara?" he asked, as if he could not believe his own sight.

It's certainly been a while.

Tallara's tail coiled around her right leg. Despite her many travels and the many individuals she'd met, there were few that she had ever felt a close connection with. Of course she remembered the armored man who had pulled her out of the rubble; and she remembered every time he'd helped her get back up in the past. Whether it was helping her process her amnesiac state or showing her the ropes of the KO.

Even with all that, though, she'd never really had a chance to stay long. Fear, desperation, work... she'd needed to find her own path. The Force always had a funny way of bringing people back together. She'd been expecting to meet someone new, but seeing Hashim again is a welcome surprise. More surprise than welcome, though, and a small bout of anxiety hits Tallara like a truck. Would he really remember her? What if he's all different? How much has Tallara herself changed?

She didn't have to wait too long to get her answer. Hashim had the same voice as she remembered. Her tail relaxed, the end just touching the floor. Of course, it didn't make her anxiety fade completely. When people spoke oddly it always made her feel a little weird. She had no idea why his manner of speech was so much more different than hers. "If you can't trust your own senses, I don't think you can trust anything," she said, letting out a small chuckle. "It's... it's to see you again, Hashim." This was honestly less than ideal for a game of catch-up. This time she hoped they'd have a bit of time to stick around, relax...

Though so much time had passed...

Some things never change. All those years ago, after that horrendous battle gone awry, certain doom awaited both Hashim and Tallara. They were buried, yet despite their injuries, they managed to keep one another alive. Following the battle, Hashim...did not even know if the name Hashim was his own name. It was what those who tended to him referred to him, so he took it at face value. And, from that day forward, he and the woman who helped save his life remained close. For a time, they were effectively attached at the hip - though time would see their paths diverge.

It was a good sign to the Warlock that a familiar face was joining him on this expedition. It was a good sign indeed. Upon recognizing her face and her voice, he noticed the subtle motions of her tail. As a warrior, she could keep bearing like the best of them - but he learned (over drinks no less) that there was a way to see what she was thinking. Her face was unreadable, her tail? Not so much. Beaming, he extended his fist and gently tapped her shoulder. "It's so good to se you as well! Where have you been all this time?"

Sure, time was short before the mission began - but he would make time to at least catch up. If only for a little while. Knowing that she was a member of the Knighthood was heartening as well - for now, they had access to one another once more. The way Hashim looked upon his dear friend...his expression said that it would be just like old times. Well. If he had his way that is. "Mission under your skin? Fret not...me too. The details are...horrendously vague."

He'd never know that it was him and not the mission causing her tail to twitch. At least, not in the moment.

A pleasant surprise?
Relax over a few drinks, maybe. That was probably the best way to get out all of the fears and feelings that had been accumulating over the years. She had so much she could talk about, all the stories of her travels and assignments. Having someone to talk to, spill the beans... simply put, it'd been a while since Tallara had had a drink.

"Lots of away assignments. Deep-cover, sleeper agent sort of stuff. I haven't been in Confederacy space in over a year," she said, giving a light chuckle. Being a Pathfinder was likely the most out-there of the Confederacy and the Knights Obsidian's branches. Even the new Ministry of Secrets operated largely within the Confederacy's borders. Tallara on the other hand had the privilege of being able to travel all across the galaxy, for the express purpose of silencing the CIS' enemies.

Meeting an old friend was far more interesting -- and in some respects, stressful -- than all of that.

She nodded, her tail again tensing for a moment before relaxing. While the specifics of their mission might be incredibly vague, it was certainly nothing they couldn't handle. A master of the Force and an experienced Knight would be enough to bring down a planet. "Yeah. We've still got a job to do, though. Shall we prepare?" The Pathfinder gave a slight smile, heading over to gather the gear she needed from the armory.

And what a job it was.

Though the Warden would have been perfectly fine chatting away within the armory, there were far more pressing matters to attend to. Yet, despite the vague nature of their mission, Hashim stepped forward with a renewed vigor. There was nothing better than having a trusted friend at his back. "Well, here's hoping we'll work together more in the future." he remarked, before settling his helm over his face. "Force knows it's been far too long...and after this job, drinks are on me."

Descent to the planet was the next step forward. Personally, Hashim preferred when their operations afforded usage of a smaller vessel. However, the corvette simply landed planetside upon the designated pad. As the ramp extended to the surface, the Warden attempted to hail their peers over the encrypted frequency. "This is Knight Hashim, status report." Silence. He repeated his message twice more with a similar result. A scowl crept upon his features beneath his helm.

"I'm not liking the look of this." he began, offering a nod to his old friend. "Last report was of CDF and Obsidian personnel going missing in the Hive. Now this?" His hand gripped and readied his saber - not igniting it just yet. "Not a huge fan of walking into their web headfirst - any suggestions?"
