"It's not that we do puzzles to earn them. We do puzzles to understand them. They show us what the runes can do in a way that words simply can't explain. They need to be learned through action and our own thoughts and beliefs, or they won't work."

It's how he figured the last two went, anyway. He hummed as he glanced over the zone they were watching, rubbing at his chin. Then blinked as he glanced to Radan.

"This isn't separate puzzles it is? This is all the same? .. Question isn't where, but when, right?"

Radan smiled wide and dipped his head.

"Yes."

Vera blinked and watched her dad while she tried to make sense of what he was saying. Runes were awfully cryptic, so for someone without the experience, it wasn't the easiest to understand. But she got the important parts she believed — they had to go through a puzzle to understand the runes, and it wasn't about thinking, but action. Right up Vera's alley there.

"Hmmm," Vera hummed after a moment. "Okay, let's try it!" She glanced back at the area with the different realities blending together, and then back to Radan.

"These are all different times? Can we see more about them?" Vera was struggling a little to find a place to start, so why not try to learn as much as she could?

...
"Come on, sweetie. Say it again~" Valery said with a proud, motherly smile as she held up the recorder. Aurra squealed and flailed her arms a little before muttering another "Da-da," much to Valery's enjoyment. Valery wasn't one to share anything about her personal life on the holonet or with random people, but she wanted to capture this memory for when the kids were older.

Maybe it'd be cute to look back one day, and relive these moments together.

"Dad and Vera are going to be so proud of you three."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Your perception is wrong. It's not about seeing the different settings, it's about seeing the whole."

Radan found a spot to sit, calmly watching the pair of Jedi with a smile. Kahlil seemed to have something click, though. The rune along his spine lit up, forming the marks under his eyes. Letting him see what wasn't usually capable of being seen. Then he clicked his tongue.

".. Ah, the runes shattered. We're looking for the pieces to put it together."

"Daddy is cheating the puzzle," Vera sad flatly while she pointed at her father, who was tapping into his runes to understand what he could otherwise not see. But to Vera, it was still a puzzle, so basically a game, right? Which meant he was cheating. Still, when he explained that they were parts of the whole, everything clicked for the young Noble.

Seeing the whole.

Vera giggled, "Like pieces of a puzzle." She then turned to her father and began pointing at the walls. "We saw the old ones at the cave! If we see the others, we can bring them together." She paused and looked at her dad

"But how?" She had seen him literally draw runes before when he knew the patterns, but others formed on his body. Could she do that too?

Kahlil_Div2.png

"No, no I think there's a different rune here all together."

Kahlil rubbed at his chin as the rune on his spine faded from view. As the realm shifted and turned, there was something there. Written among the rubble and shifting reality. Kahlil hummed, rubbing at his chin before an idea clicked. He grinned, reaching down to prop Vera up on his shoulders.

"Tell me what you see." It'd be easier to see from farther up. The different settings, there were odd lines through out all of it. Each shift of reality had a different part of the rune. Only by seeing the whole, by seeing all chapters of the time displayed, would the full rune be visible.

Vera held up her arms when she noticed her father reaching down to lift her up. Without much effort, she was put right on top of his shoulders, where she sat comfortably and placed her hands on top of his head. Of course, she took the chance to ruffle his hair for once while she giggled.

But then it was time to focus.

Looking through the different settings, Vera just saw a whole bunch of squiggly lines at first, but the longer she looked, and the more she allowed her young but potent mind to connect with the Force, the more she began to see a connection between them. They flowed together, and in her mind alone, she started to put the image together.

"I see it, daddy!" She called out and with a tap on his head, she projected the image into his mind too. Epicanthix were highly resistant, but the bond of a father and daughter surely wouldn't be blocked. "How do we make it?" She then asked, while she tried to replicate the pattern with her fingers. This step of actually using or making a rune isn't something she had ever done before.

...
"Where are you going, Aeryn?" Valery asked with a chuckle when she watched the little Noble crawling away with some excited squeals. But by looking up and following the girl's trajectory, Valery understood immediately - she was heading for the biggest baby slide they had here.

Maybe Kahlil was right - she was taking after her mother.

"Fine, but let me help you up." She chuckled, scooped up the other kids and put them in the stroller before walking over. They'd all get a chance to go down the small slide, but only one at a time. Aeryn was put on, and while she held her mother's hand, made her way down with nothing but joy.

Kahlil_Div2.png

So she could see it. Good. It wasn't something that anyone could just see. He could see it all the same. He raised a hand, slowly pulling on the Force. Much more slowly than he normally would. He wanted Vera to see it.

"Focus on it. Then, draw. Let the Force flow through you and reach for the Rune. Trace it, slow, and focus." Focus was the most important part of any of this. Focus on the rune, don't deviate, don't let it's shape be changed. Radan watched from where he sat, the same smile on his face but now it grew wider. They both seemed to pick up on it faster than what was assumed.

"You've got this."

Focus.

Vera's ruffling of her father's hair stopped, and her hands felt very gentle on top of his head all of a sudden. Her eyes closed, her breathing got steady, and for a daughter of Chaos Incarnate, she was awfully serene. The Force flowed strongly around the little girl. not in the same sense as her mother — that of a warrior — but as a guide of its flow. Her eyes then opened, and traced the pattern of the rune she saw in front of her.

Her hands followed, and so did the Force as she tried to slowly trace what she could see. It was a methodical process, and as eager she always was to rush into excitement, Vera was extremely patient now. She wanted to be able to do this. She wanted to make her father proud.

"I can feel it," Vera said, as something began to change along her spine.

She was doing it.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Good."

Kahlil could too. He pulled on it, breathed it, focused it. It was far more natural for him, he knew that much, but he still needed to make sure he was in control of what he was doing. A deep breath, and he could feel it focused atop the other two along his spine. 'Sight'. 'Death'. And now, 'Time'. He opened his eyes shortly after, understanding already flooding into his mind. What it could do, what he could now do. He chuckled to himself before glancing up towards Vera to watch her.

When Kahlil glanced up, Vera's face was only inches away from his own, staring down at her father with a big, goofy grin like the one he had frequently. "It tickles, daddy," she said with a giggle, as a gentle light shined along her own spine. "It feels... like the visions but... different." She was still trying to figure out how to put it to words, but her connection to time through her visions helped her understand in a way that most people never would.

"I want to try it but..." she shifted and looked down her dad's back. "Is mommy's rune the last one?" She asked, not knowing whether or not it counted among the four that were mentioned here. Vera then paused, looked back at her dad and wrapped her arms around him for a hug.

"Did I do good?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil smiled wide as Vera spoke up. He nodded, reaching up to pull her from his shoulders and give her a gentle hug. Then set her down. He really was truly proud of her. It wasn't something he really expected her to learn, but she had. More, she seemed to have an idea on how it worked already. He really couldn't be any more proud than he was right now. Then, he laughed. Shook his head.

Radan stepped over, chuckling as he looked up to Kahlil, then to Vera.

"That was the first of the four we have to teach you. The ones your parents already have aren't of the four we intend to teach you. The one now, though, will let you find the other three."

Vera returned the hug by wrapping her arms as far around her father as she could. For him to be proud was very important to her, and it showed in the way she beamed her happiest smile at him after she was set down. Apparently, this was only one of four entirely new runes they'd learn, but this had already been so much fun!

She was finally really learning more about being a Jedi.

"Can we use the rune on the different whens we saw?" Vera asked her father to try and figure it out. If they could tap into time with it, then surely they'd have to look at different "whens", right?

"I wanna try first if that is right!"

"Okay!" Vera said before she stepped forward and closed her eyes again. She didn't need them to see, not when she was tapping into the Force for guidance. But this time, she allowed the rune on her spine to light up, and focused on the distorted realities in front of her.

With a mind trained for visions, she was drawn into a fiery future, with vivid images flashing through her mind. Even the smell of burning materials reached her nostrils, and so did the death and decay of nature around this Temple.

"Hmmpf," Vera whined, but expecting her father to want to help, she raised a little hand. To tell him she was alright and focused. Vera knew the pain of death, but this felt nothing like it. The feeling was more akin to when her siblings were born. New life, and a new future. She began to smile as an older Radan greeted her with a comforting smile, and only now, she tried to draw her father into what she saw.

"We can find it together."

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil crouched down, gently setting a hand on Vera's shoulder to help direct her. He pulled on his own rune. Where she could see the different realities, his rune was vastly different. It didn't work on living things as far as he could tell, but.. He raised his own hand, letting what she saw help guide him to it. "We're not looking for anything specific. Just.." Slowly but surely, the rift they'd been studying all this time stopped bleeding into one another. The area stilled, and the segments of time resettled back where they needed to be.

"We're repairing it."

Repair it?

Vera blinked and focused on the riftd again. It made sense to her now, and with her father guiding her, she focused on the rune she had learned. It lit up even brighter, and her eyes opened again. "I wanna help," she said, and together with her dad, she worked hard to repair the various echoes of time.

While different from visions, all of this began to feel like an extension of what she already knew. The young Noble was learning, and she couldn't wait to tell her mom all about it.

"Like this, daddy?" She asked with a smile, as it seemed to be working.

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil nodded slowly. He didn't say much, instead focusing on finishing off the task at hand. The rift closed, and Radan stepped up beside them. His earrings jingled as he glanced between them. Smiled. And raised a hand. The same rune formed, glowing just in front of his palm.

"When the time comes, you'll both be back. For now, head home. It was really good finally meeting you both."

There was warmth, then black, then they were back where they were. Just outside the cave entrance, but with a new sensation on both of their spines now. Kahlil let out a chuckle before glancing down towards Vera.

"Well, you heard him. Lets get back."

The jingle of his earrings were again a small distraction to Vera, but with the world changing around her once more, she shifted her focus to that. She had done it, together with her dad. Her very first Jedi mission was a success, and it couldn't make her any happier.

"It was nice to meet you too, plush-" she stopped herself and giggled. "Radan! Thank you for helping us." One last time, Vera bowed deeply the Jedi way, before she grabbed her father's hand to start heading back. But now that they were no longer in the cave, Fuzzy ran back up to Vera, and crawled all over her until he settled on hee shoulder. Vera just giggled from his little paws tickling her, and looked up at her dad.

"Mommy won't be angry, right?" She asked with an almost smug kind of smile.

...
Soon enough, father and daughter made their way over to the park where they had sensed Valery's presence. She was sitting on a bench with the stroller in front of her facing her way while all three of the triplets were babbling along and squealing to the pictures she was showing them from one of Aurra's books.

"Mommy!" Vera called out before running over. Valery heard the familiar voice and got up to lift her little star off the ground and into a big hug. They then gently rubbed their cheeks together, and for a moment, Valery just enjoyed the moment. But then, a smug grin turned to Kahlil, and she walked over to steal a kiss. Both because she liked stealing those, and to show off her new Epicanthix dress.

She hoped he'd like it.

"That one won't make up for running off, just so you know." He'd have to make up for that later tonight, and her grin showed it. "Before you two tell me all about your adventure though, I do have a surprise. And...what do you think of the dress? I got the kids some new clothes too."

Kahlil raised a brow curiously as as he and Vera arrived at the park. A brow that raised right up as he caught sight of Valery. He let out a small chuckle, his eyes scanning her over before he nodded. He didn't say anything, just nodded. He very, very much liked that dress on her.

"We also have a surprise, but I'd like to hear yours first."

While he didn't say anything, at least he seemed to really like the dress. She could see it in his eyes, and offered a faint smile in response before she turned to the triplets. "Well, first a small surprise," Valery said as she grabbed the finger paintings they had made for him, but also the framed picture Colette took of Valery surfing.

Something of his wife, and something of the kids. "For your office. We figured you'd like to have a bit more there of us," she said with a much warmer smile. "Isn't that right, sweeties?" Valery asked the triplets for a reason, because as soon as their mother directly talked to them, they started squealing and babbling a bit.

"Da-da!" Aeryn began, but Aurra was focused on her big sister, who was taking a look at the paintings. "Ve-wa!" she squealed happily. Valery chuckled and looked between the kids and her husband with that loving, motherly smile. She hoped he'd be happy to hear them say their first words to him.
