STRENGTHS
  • Modularity - Like many of the Mon Calamari-designed vessels, the Home One-class is known for the ease with which the interior of the vessel can be modified, as well as the exterior due to the inclusion of the various bulbous, organic-like pods that dot the hull of the vessel. This allows the Home One-class to be utilized for any number of roles as a mission requires.
  • Secondary Command Bridges - Located at various intervals along the hull are additional command pods that can be utilized to maintain control of the vessel should the primary bridge be crippled or otherwise destroyed.
  • Systems Carrier - These vessels were designed to provide additional Starfighter support to attached fleets or those systems in which they are deployed to protect. As such, they are capable of carrying and deploying six Starfighter Wings - organized into three squadrons per wing - as well as up to three additional squadrons of support craft consisting of shuttles and unarmed transports.
WEAKNESSES
  • Ordnance Pods - The Home One-class maintains many of the design elements from the original Mon Calamari-designed vessels, which can be seen in the various bulbous, organic-like pods located along the hull. Many of these pods house the armaments of the vessel and their loss would mean a loss in the ability for the vessel to fight back during an engagement.
  • Sluggish - These vessels are not known for their maneuverability. Though boasting improved sublight speeds and acceleration above other Star Cruisers and Battle Cruisers utilized by the Galactic Alliance, it often takes additional time and distance for these vessels to accomplish maneuvers that more nimble or specialized designed vessels are capable of executing.
  • Automation - Many of the internal systems have been automated to allow for a smaller crew to operate the vessel without a loss in efficiency or combat capability. However, these automated systems are at the mercy of Ion-based weaponry; with their disabling or destruction resulting in a loss of efficiency and potential crippling of the vessel.
DESCRIPTION
The Home One was known to be the flagship of Admiral Ackbar during the Battle of Endor; the vessel itself was a Home One Type Heavy Star Cruiser produced by the Mon Cala originally as a civilian ship that had a long and illustrious service among the Alliance to Restore the Republic. During the height of the Rebellion and into the New Republic, these vessels were well known and continued to serve with both distinction and, in many cases, as the main warship for the New Republic before the adoption of a more standardized fleet. However, that has not stopped these vessels and many, even from the time of the Rebellion, can still be found in service. More recently, Aether Systems introduced the Ackbar-class, itself a Mon Cala design that serves in the role of a Light Destroyer. Building upon that foundation and looking to the past, Aether Systems has now introduced the Home One-class to further bolster the Battlecruiser lines of the Galactic Alliance.

Though serving primarily as a Command Vessel, the Home One-class is not without its own defensive or offensive capabilities, as such, it boasts an impressive array of armaments equal to many Battlecruisers or Heavy Destroyers. Additionally, much of its internal layout has been configured to allow for the carrying and deploying of multiple Starfighter or Bomber Squadrons often organized into wings consisting of three squadrons each. Furthermore, these vessels also carry an additional wing of support craft of Shuttles and Unarmed Transports to ferry passengers and crew between vessels or planetside. One of its primary drawbacks, however, can be seen in its lack of maneuverability, as these vessels were not designed for such feats - this results in the need for additional time and distance to properly execute a maneuver that more specialized vessels can easily execute.

Maintaining many of the design features and aesthetics of Mon Cala vessels has also resulted in the inclusion of specialized Ordnance Pods which house the majority of the armaments of these vessels that are located along the hull. As such, loss or damage to these pods directly impacts the fighting capabilities of the vessel and can hinder its ability to fight back during an engagement. Likewise, due to the size of these vessels and often the difficulty manning such vessels, many of the internal systems are automated to allow for a smaller crew. These systems are thus highly susceptible to Ion-based weaponry which can render many of these systems inoperable and in turn, potentially crippling the vessel.

As turmoil continues to grip the very Heart of the Galaxy and the Galactic Alliance appears to be surrounded by enemies, both realized and potential, the Home One-class provides an additional bulwark to safeguard the people. Despite its drawbacks; its heavier armaments, armor, and capability to maintain and launch multiple squadrons of Starfighters means that the Alliance Navy is more than capable of holding the line.
