- Dedicated Hologame Console. This thing is built for gaming. With expanded processor capability, modernized data retrieval protocols, and the most advanced hologram generation matrix, you won't find a better hologame experience for your home or starship,
- There's An App For That. Using the latest version of Corellia Digital's O/S Cresh operating system, the HoloStation 5 uses a variety of applications to leverage the HoloStation's computer functionality. The Holoflix app, for example, allows the user to stream holo-vid content from the Corellia Digital library. Corellia Digital Music provides a similar service for musical entertainment. Various HoloFeed apps provide access to news, sports, and more!
- Dedicated Gaming Console. This isn't mobile gaming. The power requirements limit this to a home, dorm, the lounge area of a light freighter, or some other similarly stable environment. You need to sit awhile to get the most out of your HoloStation 5. This isn't a "grab and go" medium for gaming.
- Paywall. Holoflix requires a subscription. Corellia Digital Music requires a subscription. HoloStation Network? Yep, another subscription. You can bundle to save, but in general nothing's free in console gaming.
The HoloStation 5 was intended as the next generation hologame console and fifth in the HoloStation series. Intended for launch in 861 ABY, it was marketed as the successor to the HoloStation 4 hologame console that had been launched in 844 ABY. Like the HoloStation 4, the device was primarily constructed around a holoprojection matrix that supplied the hologram and hard light interface that the user (referred to as "gamers") then interacted with as part of the illusionary entertainment medium. Technology updates and improvements over the prior decade, combined with advances in Corellia Digital's operating system, allowed for faster data handling with larger packets of data. This made the HoloStation 5 significantly more powerful, with faster computer processing time and rendering than the previous generation.
Improvements to the computer interface expanded the range of possible use beyond mere gaming, taking a more holistic approach to being a hub of entertainment. Applications enabled access to the Holoflix streaming archive, Corellia Digital Music library, or various HoloFeeds from across the galaxy. This content could be restricted or vary depending on region, as defined by the HoloNet Relay that the user was connecting to the HoloNet from. Though the range of possible content was expansive, many of the applications and services used a subscription based model for services.
