STRENGTHS

- Wireless Network Connectivity. The remote slicer chip allows the HoloLink XJ9 to communicate remotely with compatible networks. Ports on the side of the wrist cuff are available for peripheral cables if a hardline connection is necessary (cables not included).
- Slicer Datapad. The XJ9 is functionally a remote slicer, and comes pre-programmed with three algorithms designed to challenge cyber security. This is not intended to replace a trained slicer, and is only intended for use as a contingency measure against light or medium defended networks.
- Ion Resistant Design. Agrinium coating supplies a first line of defense against electromagnetic interference. This is sufficient to shield against area effects, such as EMP grenades, but will not protect the internal components from a directed energy strike; such as Sith Lightning or a direct hit from an ion blaster.
- Limited Ammunition. The sonic feature is intended for use as a hold-out stunner in emergency situations only.

- Low Recharge Rate. The XJ9 has a delay in charging between shots. Once the power cell is exhausted (2-3 shots, depending on battery level at use), the battery must be replaced or recharged before it can be used again.
- Sonic Weapon. Must be calibrated for the specific species (Near-Human, Near-Duros, etc) in order to maximize effectiveness.
- Biometric Security. Species that do not register on lifesign scanners, such as Anzat, are unable to benefit from this security feature. Additionally, the use of cloned material would fool the sensor.
Originally commissioned for use by the Antarian Rangers of the Silver Jedi in 844 ABY, the first generation HoloLink XJ9 was based on it's civilian counterpart. The XJ9 is a wrist-mounted comlink with full holographic support and access to the HoloNet feeds. The XJ9 expanded on the datapad functionality of the HoloLink, and as such is markedly larger than the base version. The diatium battery can operate for up to 96 hours between charging, subject to use and the amount of energy expended to maintain subspace connectivity. In a shielded area, such as a subterranean cave, where the device is constantly signal hunting, the battery life can plunge to 24 hours or less. Note that the antenna can be disabled to preserve battery life.
The second generation XJ9 was unveiled in 858 ABY and featured significant updates in the design. Flexible glasteel panels were carefully arranged into a wrist cuff that was notably larger than the HoloLink, but not usually so for a wrist link. A panel slid out from the cuff, revealing the datapad along the top or underside of the forearm depending on the users preference. The expanded datapad when gave the user access to expanded features via the touchpad. A holoprojector functioned in both the compact and expanded modes, allowing users to project images in real-time communication or as part of the iOS visual GUI.
