Description:
Holojacks are cybertechnology implants that allow sapient beings to directly access computers and information with their mind. They typically resemble a coin-sized dataport that is implanted either on the side of the head (typically in the temporal region of the skull, behind the ear or on the temple) or the back of the neck (just below the brainstem), although a holojackcan be placed anywhere in the body. This unit is similar to the Borg Construct Aj^6 but is much smaller less noticeable and can upload datachips into an internal storage memory that can be accessed directly by thought.
Due to the invasive nature of the holojack system it can be botha great boon and a huge liability. The ability to wirelessly connect to most computers also means tthe ability exist to have the system wirelessly hacked by a superior slicer/programmer. Other dangers are sensory overload, brain damage from misuse and even death in extreme cases. Firewalls and the like can be used to protectthe user from unwanted access to the "headware" the risk any computer face in the galaxy can be risk to the headware however the ability to have access to the holonet, VR sites, computer systems, and even weapons in the same way a Heads up display operates is for some worth the inherent risk.
