Public Holiday from Hell

The Jedi Knight slowly awoke to the sound of waves lapping over each other and a cool, salty breeze which was only the start of his confusion. He tenderly pushed himself into a sitting position before placing a hand above his eyes to shield them from the light and sat staring at the beach in front of him for a while, completely dumbfounded about what situation he had gotten himself into. All around, people were going about their daily lives; walking along the beach with cocktails, kids playing in the water. Castor couldn't even begin to make sense of it all which especially wasn't helped by the fact he couldn't even recall his own name, let alone decipher where he was.

With the information he had, which was waking up on a beach with no knowledge of who he was or how he got there, it would almost be safe to assume he was just on vacation if it weren't for the fact he was wearing trousers and boots which didn't typically tend to point towards your average holidaymaker. Castor pat down his sides to see if he was carrying a weapon or identification or anything that could give him any clue as to who he was, where he was or why he was here. He felt a small object at the bottom of his pocket and reached in to pull out a couple of credits and an ID chip which gave him an idea of his name, age and citizenship but not much else.

Castor unsteadily rose to his feet, suddenly aware of how light-headed he felt, prompting him to wonder even more what events had happened leading up to now. Maybe he was on vacation after all and had just gone a little too far last night - hopefully everything would come back to him soon enough. He walked down the beach towards what appeared to be a resort, receiving a few glances from onlookers as he did. He wasn't sure where he was going or what to do but if his ID chip was anything to go by then he thought it best to try and get back to Corellia.

"Excuse me." He said to the bartender at a bar on the beach who turned to face the man who had gotten his attention. "What can I get for you?" He asked. "Piña Colada and where's the nearest Space Port?" He asked, resting his arms on the bar. "About an hour that way." The bartender gestured towards a direction inland as he made the drink. "Thanks." Castor said, holding out his hand with the credits in at which point the bartender shook his head. "You're all-inclusive, you don't need to pay." He replied, pointing at the wristband on Castor's wrist. "What, but I-" He started but was unsure how to finish. Maybe he was just on vacation after all.

Still drippling wet after some time in the water, Mathieu wrapped himself in a white bathrobe. Apparently, this was what the truly stylish and impressive people were supposed to wear but to him, it seemed rather silly to wear it on a beach. Still, there he was, wearing it just like his friends had suggested. If they had been there, they would probably have seen how odd it really was. Alas, they all had different interests and had split up for the time being. Thinking about it, he even wondered if they were pulling a prank on him but quickly dismissed the idea as he continued to think on what to do next.

After picking up the now empty glass which was planted in the sad next to where the bathrobe had been, the Morellian started making his way back to the bar at the resort. He had done this a few times already - going back to get another drink before once again heading out towards the beach. His regularity and predictability was confirmed once he came within the barkeep's field of view as the man brought up the ale that Mathieu kept asking for whenever he returned. Shaking his head, he told himself that maybe he should switch it up a little next time, or perhaps just go get his drinks somewhere else.

Sending the barkeep an awkward smile and nod, Mathieu dug up a few credits and payed almost as soon as his arrived. It was a little worrying how well their 'system' was working by now. Deciding to break the pattern, he refrained from heading out to the beach again and stayed by the bar instead, slowly slurping on his drinks and exchanging uncomfortable stares with the bartender who seemed confused to say the least. Feeling an urgent need to withdraw from the unilateral confrontation, Mathieu turned to the man a bit to his side "So, what's up with the outfit?" he asked, having taken note of the strange choice of clothing the other had.

Nothing seemed to add up. Why come from Corellia to wherever this was? Where did the credits come from to get here in the first place? Why did he have no memory of anything prior to waking up? And why did he have a wristband to this resort? Questions swirled around in his mind. It was quite overwhelming knowing nothing - he definitely needed that Piña Colada.

The fact that he was still none the wiser after the stupor had worn off was alarming. If this was just the result of partying too hard then he should still have memories prior to that evening, but there were none. Besides, he wasn't one to party anyway, or was he? Everything felt like a mess and he was so very lost. His best bet seemed to be hoping there were some Corellians at the Space Port who would take pity on him and take him back to Corellia.

It took Castor a moment to realise he was being spoken to before he turned to face the man, apologetically. "Oh, um... I'm not sure." He replied with a nervous laugh, realising that was a very odd answer to give. "I don't remember why I'm wearing this." He tried to clarify. The young man beside him didn't seem like a threat and Castor had no reason to suspect him as one. After all, he didn't know who he was so he couldn't decide who was a threat to him or not. "Sorry but... Where are we?" He asked.

While it was hard to truly put words to it, Mathieu did feel like the other was somewhat absent. Like he had just been woken up from deep sleep and was trying to appear as alert as possible whilst simultaneously doing his best not to fall asleep. Leaning down a little and tilting his head forth, the Mercenary looked at the man with curiousity. Needless to say, the answer was quite disappointing "I'm not sure" could hardly be true, could it? Raising a questioning eyebrow, Mathieu kept looking at the one next to him as another line confirming his confused state could be heard. "Not sure?" he asked, clearly skeptical about it all. "Alright, mate" he continued before taking a few hefty clunks from the drink he held.

Upon finishing, the weirdly dressed stranger continued and what he said only reinforced the confused image that he was expertly creating for himself. It all started making sense now. Obviously, this was one of those philosophical ones. Immediately, Mathieu realised that 'Alakatha' would hardly suffice as an answer. Shaking his head lightly and taking a sigh in preparation of what he was about to do, the Morellian soon spoke "We're on a beach which many considers to be a jewel of our galaxy. A few kilometers away from the equator our locations sports a warm, tropical climate. Palm trees and beaches with fine sand dominates the landscape and can frame your view over the ocean nicely. About a hundred meters inland, you can find one of the local delicacies growing from the rather lacking soil in terms of nutrition. The fruits themselves, will, however leave a lasting impression as their sweet taste will win over most humanoids" In all of this, he had yet to mention where they were but was quite happy about remembering so much about the area - in large parts due to having read a few advertisements about why one should come for a visit.

Mathieu was sending the other a cheesy smile, hoping that his response would be just a little better than the one he received about the clothes. Through the corner of his eye, he saw the bartender let out a sigh whilst facepalming upon having heard the Mercenaries 'pitch'.

Castor returned the man's gaze with a similar curiosity in an attempt to study him for any negative intentions but his mind still felt clouded so he remained wary of him but since they were out in public and he could prove to be nothing more than a simple holidaymaker, it wouldn't hurt to entertain him for now, besides he could be of some use and prove his trustworthiness. He could tell the newcomer seemed sceptical of him, after all, he was aware that he was acting peculiarly but there wasn't anything he could do about it at present. "Yeah..." He laughed nervously, wondering how oddly he was coming across to the other man. "It'll come back to me." He replied - it was partly wishful thinking.

It seemed he wasn't about to get a simple reply of the name of the planet as the man launched into a long-winded explanation about the local area. As he progressed, Castor became increasingly confused as he tried to decipher where they were based on the information he was being given, though it soon became futile. He sat staring blankly at the young man, who seemed rather pleased with himself, once he had concluded and considered ignoring him from then on but since he seemed to know a plethora of useless information about the planet then he must've at least known the name of the planet.

After a sip of his sorely needed drink, he turned back to the young man for a second attempt at extracting anything useful from him. "That's nice... but can you tell me the name of the planet, please?" He asked in an attempt to be polite, though he was beginning to feel frustrated, not at the man but as his own lack of knowledge which was becoming increasingly concerning. "I'm... lost." He told him, expecting there to be a few questions raised after his statement. Most people didn't tend to get so well lost that they were unaware what planet they were even on.

She had slipped into the bar while the two men were conversing, neither seemed to have noticed her come in or even when she sat down. Casually she took a sip of her glass while watching them curiously, one slightly overdressed guy and another guy in a robe, both kind of cute in their own way, though not exactly the relaxation she had in mind either way none of her business.

She turned back toward the bartender, strands of red hair falling with the movement and she slid her glass to him. “One more please?” she said a charming smile witch which the man was more than happy to oblige. She wasn’t exactly here to chat anyways or looking for friends she needed a long break after everything that happened on Atrisia, and this was the perfect place for a rest. She took the refilled glass from the bartender and swirled it around a couple of times before taking another sip. “Thank you” she smiled and nodded to the bartender.

If either of them turned to notice her, they would notice a young woman shoulder length red hair and emerald green eyes, she wore a simple sundress and had a single bag slung over her shoulder, inside that bag tucked away gently was her lightstaff on the outside she would not look like a Jedi and that was exactly the way she wanted it. No force, no battles just sand, sun and a cool drink.

With his lips forming a thin line and round eyes, Mathieu simply nodded at the other patron who delivered the line "It'll come back to me" in a rather unconvincing manner to say the least. But then, it didn't seem like anything worth pondering over too much - some people were just shy and peculiar and this guy could be one of them. Acceptance and an ability to move on would usually do the trick, so that was precisely what the mercenary planned to do. Speaking of the local flora was a great idea.

Much to his disappointment, the oddly dressed man didn't seem all to enthusiastic about the infomercial-esque hint of where they were. This was even more surprising as the last part as anyone who even had the faintest idea of where they were would probably have been able to guess their location by now. "No, stop messing with me mate!" he laughed before continuing drinking. Upon lowering the glass, his eyes spotted a girl with remarkably green eyes, immediately catching his attention. It did, however, not take long before Mathieu returned to the conversation with his neighbour - just in time to hear him admit that he was lost.

Looking at the man for both one and two seconds, he finally let out a slightly confused "Alakatha" whilst looking at the other attentively. "You know, long beaches, warm water and and the sun shining bright?" he said, hoping to refresh the guy's memory a little. Taking yet another sip from his drink, the Morellian thought that the best option for the guy now might just be to go back to his hotel and lie down or perhaps even to go see a doctor. With the girl in his sight again as he set down his drink, Mathieu allowed his eyes to linger for a while. If she happened to look over, he'd send her a pleading look, hoping for help with the one next to him - surely, she must have been close enough to hear what was going on.

It seemed apparent to Castor by now that he was becoming somewhat of a spectacle as the other man seemed to be oddly intrigued by him which made him more wary, after all, he couldn't discern the man's intentions so he was not ruled out as being a threat, no matter how friendly he seemed. As time crawled on and Castor began to comprehend the situation better, it seemed likely that whatever circumstances leading to him being here were not good ones as he still had no recollection of anything he ought to, suggesting more than mere intoxication was at play.

The best bet for now seemed to be extracting as much information as he could about people who were here. Returning to Corellia was all good and well but then what? It wouldn't solve anything when it seemed all the answers must be with him on this planet, whatever it might be. The other man, understandably, was sceptical about the apparent lack of knowledge in the other but didn't seem to be distrustful or any less willing to entertain him. Perhaps this man was genuine and Castor had no reason to be sceptical of him either and it wasn't as though he had anything to lose - that he knew of.

"Alakatha." He repeated thoughtfully as he tried to mentally place it in the galaxy. "Oh yeah, yeah. I know where it is." He replied with a nod, though the answer only raised more questions, but none that this man would be able to answer. During the conversation, he noticed another person join them at the bar who seemed appropriately dressed and rather at ease, it was beginning to get harder to imagine that there was something sinister going on as the world around him seemed so mundane. "What's your name?" He asked, hoping to build a rapport with the stranger. "I'm Castor." He told the man as though he hadn't just read it off his ID chip moments before and extended a hand towards him.

The young redheads eyes did indeed meet Mathieu’s and she gave him a sympathetic smile and shook her head to the effect of ‘nope you are on your own’ though his crushed hopes only would endure for only a moment then she winked at him before speaking up. Directing her words initially to Mathieu “Perhaps your friend has been in the sun a bit too long, in quite warm clothing too by the looks of it. You aren’t exactly dressed for the beach; Castor was it? The heat could be getting to you.” The words were gentle and not at all accusatory but they were simply matter of fact. She signaled to the bartender. “Would you please get him a water and keep it coming, he may well be dehydrated, dehydration can play all sorts of tricks on the mind after all” she smiled at Castor, gently giving him a way out of looking like a confused person and at the same time rescuing a Mathieu from a somewhat frustrating conversation though at the risk of interrupting her peace and quiet.

She did sense confusion from him about why he was here and who he was but she definately could sense his connection to the force wether or not he realized what he was, she would need to find out more about him but at the stage it would be unwise to leave him alone. She turned her eyes to Mathieu again from this one whos name she had not yet overheard she didn't feel any sort of emotion other than perhaps a slight irritation which was understandable in this situation, either way at present she wasn't opposed to lending a hand for now and helping to sort things out.

Alright, at least the guy knew of Alakatha, or so he said. The nod he did after confirming that he knew of it did cause the Mercenary to wonder. People rarely said things like 'I know where it is' when describing the planet they were on at the moment and it was even more rare for them to nod at their own statement as if confirming its validity. Still, Mathieu had let go of many oddities already and didn't mind letting go of this one either. It was not long before he noticed that the stranger with the green eyes was looking back. Not being able to hold in the slight, yet ever so noticeable chuckle at the woman's refusal to help him out, Mathieu quickly looked the other way, hoping to hide his expression from the stranger at his side. It was, quite understandable that she wouldn't want to get involved as the Morellian himself also regretted getting involved.

But then she spoke. Maybe rescue from the rather awkward situation was inbound. "Ah, maybe" he said with renewed spirits, figuring that she might have a better idea than him. "Yeah, let's get him some water" he continued, echoing the woman and waving at the barkeep. Once the water was there, he quickly handed it to Castor "Here" His eyes fixated on the glass as it emptied, even following it down to the table. Slowly, but surely, he looked back up to the neighbour "Better now?" he asked carefully before picking up the glass, leaning in over the bar and refilling it, only to slowly push it to the stranger again once full. "I'm Mathieu by the way"
