Hitting the Gym

Sensing that the break was soon to be over, Nathan lightly tosses his empty bottle out of the ring. "Well," He says to her. "If they notice me and I can't just shoot them then I'd say escape. Most Jedi or sith only give you one shot so if you can't take it then your best bet is to run. Or so I've been told."

"Fair enough and a good answer. However, picture the impossible, somehow you are required to fight said Force user.
"There are tools-weapons and armor you can use to combat them."

Making her first display at being able to use the Force, she called over to her her bag. Setting it on the ground between them, she bends down and takes a few items out. Placing them in the middle of the ring, she uses the end of her wooden knife to point out each out.

"Cortosis is used to resist lightsabers, phrik, songsteel and voidstone.
Each have its own strengths and weaknesses.
These are also just examples of what you could use."

Hoping to keep his interest and not scare him off, Ra intends to only use the Force now for their next spar.

"Do you have any questions?"

[member="Caburkad"]

"All theoretical, of course."

The man had never shared his name and she didn't know what to call him. Sir seemed too formal, at least to Ra.

"You see, the Force allows its user to perform higher than average feats. Say jumping or physical strength, even speed. If the user is strong enough, they can even block blaster bolts. I'm nowhere near that though.
Now you know I can use the Force, our next spar, I will purely be on the defense, so attack me with the knife or any of the other weapons I provided. Leave the knife you have in your boot alone though."

She had known about it when he walked in, his walk showing one boot to be heavier than the other and a familiar bulge in the material, just like her boots.

@Caburkad

"You knew about that this whole time?" He asked her a little shocked. Usually people were hard put to find all his hidden weapons. He eyed her with a new found level of respect. Nathan wasn't superstitious and he certainly didn't think the Force was all powerful like some did. He certainly gave it the respect it deserved, but he had been taught the limits and theory of the Force by his father. Being in a galaxy full of people using the Force it was a necessity. Going back to his combat stance once more, Nathan's mind switched gears and he began formulating his plan of attack with this new information in mind.

Seeing the shock on his face, Ra gave him a nod and showed him her own boots. Both empty of weapons as they were on the windowsill.

"See the wave right there? It's a little difficult to hide. So many people are blind to it."

Setting her foot flat on the ground, she bent over, put the items back into her bag and gently tossed it outside of the ring. She resumed her stance in the middle of the ring. Her wooden knives ready to help her defend herself again whatever he threw at her as well as the Force.

Not wanting to waste anymore time, Nathan charged towards his instructor with his knife held close to his chest. When he got in range he thrust out towards her face. Anticipating a crouch to avoid the blow, Nathan immediately followed up a leg sweep then a jab at her chest with his off hand.

[member="Caburkad"] closed the distance between them almost as quickly as Ra could have. His knife was close to his chest, but when he got in range, he made a thrust at her face. She brought her left arm up, the knife along the side of her arm and deflected the stab with it, pushing upward. He then moved in with foot sweep and a jab punch at her chest.

Ra with grace, lowered her arms and slid out of the range of his attacks. Upon her hands reaching her chest height, she made a forward shoving motion that would push Nathan back, but not knock him down.

"This is when voidstone would work in your favor and cancel out the shove I just sent you."

She gets back into the defensive position and waits for his next attack.

Amazed at the grace and speed of her defense, and frankly caught off balance by her Force powers. Nathan was suddenly pushed back a few stumbling steps when invisible hands seemed to him him a firm shove to the chest.
Embarrassed and a little angry at being pandered to when he realized what a weak Force push Ra had sent at him, Nathan gave a little snarl and charged. He sacrificed grace and form for power and speed. Nathan started things with a slash from upper right to lower left then from upper left to lower right, making an X. Following up with a kick aim to push straight on her chest. "Maybe this time I'd land a damn blow." He thought to himself.

Ra had the feeling, Nathan was getting angry or at least irritated at her show. While she wasn't trying to really show off, but train and help him improve. He really didn't need what little advice she could offer, that could she could tell that now.

As soon as he regained his balance from her force push, he charged at her. He let out a snarl and that was the only warning she had. However, his attack wasn't graceful and one she easily countered without the use of the Force.

Ra would catch his wrists as they both came down, take a firm hold on them and fall to the floor in a rolling motion to try and pull him off his feet and flip him over her, using his own momentum to keep him moving.

Needless to say Nathan's attack had failed..... miserably. As soon as he let loose his first swing Ra's hands were on him, grabbing his wrists. At first confused when he felt her lean backwards, he quickly realized what she had planned. Instead of fighting her, a hopeless endevour with so much forward momentum, Nathan immediately drops the knife and twists his hands so that he is also grabbing on to Ra's wrists. Already starting to fall together, Nathan throws himself towards Ra and to the left. He wasn't a moment too soon because right at that moment his feet left the ground and the two of them were falling. Though, hopefully, now at an angle that would be more advantageous than what Ra had hoped.

Ra felt the change in the direction of the fall right away. As they both fell, she moved naturally with the new trajectory, keeping her head up. However, he still landed on top, but hopefully his own forward momentum would take his face into her now exposed forehead.

It was only supposed to be spar for training, it had become more, a fight to see who would win.

Nathan's maneuver worked but not as well as he had hoped. On the one hand, he was now on top of her. On the other, well...... this was gonna hurt. His head cracked against Ra's forehead and damn did it hurt. Recoiling from the blow but not out of the fight yet, Nathan swung his fist into her right kidney.

Knowing that the head butt was going to cause even herself some discomfort, Ra prepared herself for the collision. It happened and rocked them both slightly for a second or two. When their heads cleared, [member="Caburkad"] was still on top and clearly in a winning position. He struck out at her kidney.

However, Ra thought quickly on her back, placed her feet firmly on the floor and shoved up as hard as she could with her hips and would wrap her legs around hips to prevent him from moving away. If the move worked, it would pitch Nathan forward and at that point she would reach up and wrap an arm around his neck and squeeze. The only way out was to tap out surrender or pass out.

Finally they were fighting on his terms. Nathan wasn't the best at hand-to-hand, but he was much better at ground based fighting. Now he could put it to use. Ra bucked her hips and licked her legs around him. Recognizing that she was trying to put him in a full lock Nathan swept one of her arms up and over his head then pushed her arm underneath his chest to pin it. To further cement it, he used his other arm push on her throat.

This type of fighting wasn't one Ra was too familiar with, her blades had always taken care of situations before they got this far. Try as she might, she could not figure a way out of this one. Tapping on the mat, she gave the universal sign of surrender.

"You can get up now."

Speaking calmly, but with a bit of humor, Ra looked up at [member="Caburkad"] and waited him to climb up.

It took a moment for Nathan to realize that he had won and, frankly, it surprised him. Smiling down at Ra he carefully got off of her and stood up. Reaching an arm out to help her up, he smirked and said, "That's two points for me, I think."

Ra returned the smile to [member="Caburkad"], the first real sign of emotion from her to him. She took his offered arm and hand to stand up and he smirked at her stating he had won twice. Nodding her head with a little snort before speaking.

"That is indeed and it appears we both have learning to do.
While I might be better at the hand to hand, you are far better at wrestling."

Tipping her head, she acknowledges this fact.

"Honestly, if you were ever get into a real fight, I'm sure you would come out the victor."

Though her stance is relaxed, she holds a tension inside, almost expecting him to jump on her and spar more.

Smiling back at her Nathan retorted, "I might be better at wrestling but if we're being honest with ourselves, you could have sent me flying at any opportunity. It's hard to challenge the Force. The name's Nathan by the way. Nice to meet you." He held his hand out towards Ra. Seeing that she looked a little tense, he also said with a smirk, "you know you can relax, right? I don't bite..... much."

Laughing aloud and nodding, what he stated was true.

"To bring that against you though, really wouldn't have fair. I know the world isn't fair, but there are those tools to use against the likes of me."

Casually she pointed her knife in the direction of her bag.

At his words, the hidden tension left her body and she was as relaxed as she could get in public. Slipping the knife back up her sleeve more out of habit than anything, Ra accepted his hand shake and name.

"Nathan," Ra again nodded her head and gave him a warmer smile than before. "It is nice to meet you as well."

Chuckling now, "don't bite much? I like you."
