Faction History and a Dying System (Explorers)

The Mon Calamari had made some very solid starships, from frigates to the larger Star Defenders that the Dac Shipbuilders were able to create. The Silver Concord’s Exploration Corps made use of a number of the Mon Calamari ships that they were able to control, with the relationships from Coren Starchaser, Mon Calamari and Sullustan ships and explorers helped provide backup for several missions for the Explorers, be them Jedi or others. A Mon Calamari frigate reverted back to real space on the edge of the system.

The system was dark, several worlds that were considered ‘twilight worlds’ orbiting a dying Red Giant star. It was entering its end of life sequences but the ExplorCorps had found several interesting locations on the planets. The main planet was used during the ancient Sith and Jedi wars as a Jedi Ordinance World. Formerly a jungle world, as the planet began to age with its star, the world has become much more dangerous, and harsh.

Red and purple sands, jungles melted, and acidic lakes from the rains, and high steppes separating the lowlands and highlands. The shuttles were prepared in the hangar, as the Jedi were seated in their ready room. Jedi Master Cevo Ven was standing at the front, flanked by a Sullustan Knight and Shay Nie, the Yuuzhan Vong Shaper. She was not the most pleased to be in the ship, but there was a yorik coral landing craft, her own personal one with a pair of Vanguard warriors aboard.

“Welcome, all, to the Direnni system. This system was used as an Ordinance world during the time of the Ancient Republic. Jedi and the Republic were fighting the Sith during this time, and the Direnni Prime was a major base on a now defunct supply line. Rumor has it that there was a Sith Temple. Jedi Knight Kaia Starchaser has arrived at the Republic base, while Master Coren Starchaser is scheduled to meet our teams at the Sith Temple. “

The Mon Calamari took a moment and nodded. “Allow the Force to direct you to which planet you would wish to visit. There are shuttles with teams heading to both of the major worlds. We are looking for anything that can be significant, historically, technologically, or by the Force. Be safe, and watch for one another. The Fullstream will be monitoring all channels. May the Force be with you all.”

At that, the Jedi Master and his cohorts turned the lights on in the hangar, allowing the Jedi to take to the shuttles, and other craft, from personal fighters and personal craft to make their way to the planets below.

Aveline took a deep breath. She hoped what the world around her saw was a dependable Padawan, ready and able to do her duty as asked, and not the steadily building nerve-wreck she felt herself building towards. Probably there was some kind of mantra, a sequence of meditation, to calm her down. She could lend herself to the Force, although she feared tapping into it would alert them to her unease, and question bringing her along in the first place. Aveline dared not take the risk. Although she could not identify exactly why, Shay Nie made her feel uneasy as well...

Starchaser. Starchaser. Their names rang a bell, and it gave her some comfort to know they would be on site. However, as people started rising Aveline realized she had drifted off into her own mind for a crucial moment. Allow the Force to direct you to which planet you would wish to visit. There were options? She had a choice? Not wanting to look the odd woman out, she too rose and went with a crowd, picking one at random.

This was a great opportunity to prove herself. To grow in the Force, and take that one step closer to fulfilling her potential... And who knew what she might discover? She knew no one here, but at least she was not alone. Aveline fell in line two steps behind a pair of robed figures, and soon found herself on the shuttle heading for the primary world, destined eventually for the Sith temple.

Coren Starchaser, was, as normal for him, in the thick of it with the Sith again. This time, it was their relics, the past, and a room that was a ceremonial place. He looked around, his own golden hued lightsaber casting its brilliant light around the room. He had his green bladed hilt in a docker’s clutch under his jacket, in case. But the gold was casting the light around the room. He left a few beacons leading from the landing zone through part of the temple. This was a deeper room, but Porter and his new flying companion C-KR, were going back and forth with relics, scanning them and locating them.

But the room he found? It was an intact room it seemed. He could feel it in the Force, and looked at his wife. Even with the eons between then and now, it was a room for breaking the Jedi, or whoever. There were places to dismantle a lightsaber, and what could only be stone stockades.

“Do you feel that?” He turned to Celeste, feeling that there were more joining them on the world, seemed the Fullstream had launched her shuttles. Good. They’d need the help to excavate what they could before the star went nova. Waving his lightsaber around to cast the light, he pulled an orb from his bag and flipped a switch, giving it an underhanded lob to where he wanted it.

And then its repulsor kicked it, hovering, and casting a sulphur light around the room, as his lightsaber extinguished.

For the first time since having the twins, Celeste was back exploring at Coren's side. It felt nice, too. Not that she didn't love spending time with her daughters – but, breaks were good. She was especially thankful that her parents had come to Kattada to babysit.

Dressed in her exploring gear: tawny trousers, button-up blouse, boots, rucksack, and utility belt, she was ready. And despite having visited sites like this before with Coren, she couldn't deny the chill that ran down her spine. Sith temples were one thing, but this room was... eerie.

“I do,” she affirmed, and turned to look at her husband.

This feeling, to Celeste, was strange – it made her hesitant to touch anything here. It looked like it'd been untouched for ages, thick layers of dust had settled and caked upon just about every surface. But there was an undeniable shape nearby, a large rectangular shape, to be precise. A lock box, perhaps. She knelt next to it and reluctantly smoothed a hand over the surface. Smooth metal met the palm of her hand, and a sudden feeling of light took hold.

“Can you open this?” she asked, standing up again.

Whatever was inside was certainly not a Sith relic, but perhaps something taken from the Jedi, kept here for all this time. Just what it was, they would have to find out.

Time was of the essence, she had understood that much. What she did not know was how much time they had. Was it a matter of hours? Days? Regardless of which, all of this would soon enough be gone. There would be no place for getting lost or falling behind.

The shuttle made its way by the abandoned Sith Temple at last. Aveline had spent most of the trip awkwardly staring towards a Jedi Rodian. How could he be so calm, so unmoved by everything that was going on? Or... Was he? She found she could not read his facial expressions at all. Was it even a he..? As if reading her thoughts he had turned in that moment, and Aveline had quickly redirected her gaze to the wall and kept it there as if a prisoner held under guard.

Everyone seemed to know where to go. Studying the walls outside, inscriptions on pillars by the entrance, there seemed to be no end to curiosity. Aveline found herself driven further in. This time she was the one who found herself on the receiving end of inquisitive stares, and so she faked the look of someone with a plan and headed straight into the temple.
