"Then we work together." Dominique smiled as she slowly lowered her hands back to the top of her desk. "I have faith Ravion will see the shape of things and make the right decision. If he doesn't then we will do what must be done, of course."

Ravion would see the shape of things. If there really were on the same page of ensuring the stability of the Republic, he'd do what was right. And it needn't even be his last act as a shaper of things. Not necessarily. How he actually reacted might influence her thoughts on that front, but it was never wise to discard a motivated person unless they were an ever greater risk.

"Making a scandal of all this won't do any of us any good." Though that did presume Ravion genuinely cared about the Republic. Some things you could never truly know until the cards were on the table. Dominique was prepared to deal with however they fell. Just how things worked.

"I much rather have you 'ambush' me in private about such crucial matters, Verity. Even as Chancellor I can only handle problems I am made aware of, and use the resources I know exist. I really do appreciate you entrusting me with this matter."
