COUNTERPLAY: Active play undertaken in response to an opponent's initative, creating threats of one's own rather than simply absorbing the pressure. After: Candidate Moves | Before: Flight Square "We can't complain that you've been ignored by the press," Lucian greeted Verity before she'd...

Major Faction Mate in Six I: Candidate Moves

CANDIDATE MOVES: The plausible moves identified for serious analysis before a player decides which one to make. Most of the Senate offices had emptied hours earlier, leaving Verity Stuyveris' suite unnaturally quiet. She had sent the staff home, except for Lucian Varencourt. Theed remained...

News The People v. Lysander von Ascania - Epilogue

Verity Stuyveris was a big believer in not reading your own press. It was nice to be feted, of course, and there was a certain catharsis to reading the worst written about you, but at the end of the day, none of it really mattered. You simply had to put your head down and get on with it. But she...

Faction  All The Bells Say | THR Senate

THE HIGH REPUBLIC SENATE THEED - NABOO [VIBES] Verity signaled her intention to speak shortly after the opening of the session; she had been allotted time on the legislative calendar for her newest reform legislation, the Senate Council of State Act. It was an ambitious reform, to be sure, but...

Private  His Fall Was Not a Small One

THE SENATE BUILDING THEED - 2231 HOURS LOCAL The legislative reception had gone long; by the time it broke up it, was just past half ten, and the leading luminaries of the Senate had slowly begun to peel off toward the exits. Verity had a few more things to take care of before the night was...

    Private  Gotta Get a Gimmick

Verity stood in the conference room off her office, watching the news. To say that conditions on Alderaan had deteriorated would be an understatement. This was tragic, not least of all for the Alderaanians, but just as importantly to Verity in this instance -- in this private unguarded moment...

    Private  Nerd Prom

THE SENATE OFFICE BUILDING THEED - NABOO The weeks was winding down. It had been another bear. The Organas had done a bunk, necessitating a frank discussion with her policy team and Alderaan experts on how to proceed. A tentative search for alternative candidates was underway, but Verity had...

    Private  Around Here

THE SENATE OFFICE BUILDING DRUCKENWELL SUITE "Are you sure we have the name right?" Verity murmured as she surveyed the resumé that her Chief of Staff had handed her. "Abrantes. Of the Naboo Abranteses? Surely he'll want to work for Sibylla Abrantes." It was the late afternoon, and she had had...

Private  A Narrow and a Tall One

THE SENATE SENATOR LEX'S OFFICE Verity decided, after making the gesture for Eadu Yittreas, that the gift of a plant was better left to its original proponent, Eharl Sarn. The gentle old -- she thought, but she supposed she didn't know for sure how old he was -- Ithorian did seem to have an...

THE HIGH REPUBLIC SENATE THEED - NABOO [VIBES? GLAD YOU ASKED] Verity Stuyveris sat in her pod, waiting for the appointed time to speak.
