Barkt Melan
Next-Gen Bothan
Intent: To create a signature engine for Heofon Industries
Development Thread: Will do if needed
Manufacturer: Heofon Industries
Model: HI-AMD-1 (Heofon Industries AntiMatter Drive One)
Affiliation: Heofon Industries, CIS/Open market (On ships smaller than a corvette)
Modularity: No.
Production: Minor
Material: Durasteel, Antimatter reactor, Engine parts, Extra cooling system parts
Description: After some disappointment with existing engines being unable to create the output he wanted, Barkt resorted to attempting to build a better one. The result was the HI-AMD-1, an engine half again as powerful as a standard ion engine. However, this power came at a cost. The system has a tendency to overheat, causing it to be useful at maximum speed for short bursts before the engines risk explosion. Because of this, Barkt added an extra cooling system to allow the engine to maintain stable flight at slower speeds without overheating. At the high speeds that the engine allows for, it will heat up over the course of a dogfight, forcing the pilot to slow his speed or even kill it to let the engines cool down.
