Designed by Concord Specialized Technologies to supplement the need for assault craft without the limitations that heavy assault gunships have, the HF-1 Hammer is a heavily armed and armored fighter designed to punch through enemy ships, be they other fighters or capital ships. The Hammer is armed with six Urr particle cannons, and a pair of Strill Universal Launchers, giving the craft a powerful punch. The heavy fighter also possesses powerful shields and a strong hull, making it difficult to get damage through.
While the heavy fighters have they're pros, the ships have their issues. The ion-jet engines that had to be used are under-powered, both making the heavy fighter slow and requiring both its engines. The smaller fighters also have an issue of being tightly packed by design. This makes it difficult to maintain, but also means that if hits can bust through the fighters defenses they will hit something important. And without an astromech to preform in-flight repairs, this could be a death sentence.
