OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Name: Scientific Classification: HESTIZO-201, Production Name: Silverrain
  • Manufacturer: Spaarti Creations
  • Affiliation: Open-Market
  • Modularity: The type of injection can be changed, and the anti-virals within the treatment can be modified if a new strain of the virus develops, but this requires samples of the new viral strain and time.
  • Production: Mass-Produced.
  • Material: Modified Anti-viral Drugs, Synthesized Gene Sequences, Synthesized Antibodies

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
  • Classification: Anti-viral Vaccine
  • Method of Consumption: Injection is the only method for introducing the treatment into the bloodstream and body of the patient. One injection is typically enough to counter act the viral agents within the body at the time.
  • Average Life: Once the injection is made and the vaccine is accepted by the patient's body, they will have roughly six months protection from the strain of virus the vaccine was created to counteract.
  • Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: The treatment does not have any nutritional value, but there have been a few side effects worth noting after injection within species not of Human or Near-Human physiologies. These include the following: Fever, Cold Sweats, Mild Hallucinations, Bodily Aches, and a rash at the injection site. More serious side effects could occur depending on the individual's genetics and their immune systems.

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Upon injection, the vaccine is designed to quickly target any and all viral agents of the Blackwing Virus within a patient's body and destroy it.

STRENGTHS
  • As stated above, the HESTIZO-201 vaccine is designed to target and destroy the Blackwing Virus within a patient and provide them with a lingering protection against the virus strain it was created against for some time.
  • Unlike the original anti-virus created during the Vector outbreak, the HESTIZO-201 vaccine works against both direct transmission through a bite or body fluids and the airborne strain of the pathogen.

WEAKNESSES
  • While the vaccine is quite effective at treating and protecting against the Blackwing Virus, its protection only lasts six months before a new dose of the vaccine would be needed.
  • If a patient is too far along (i.e. major necrosis has set in) or has already succumbed to the Blackwing Virus, the HESTIZO-201 will not save them.
  • If a Sith alchemist develops a new version of the virus, a new vaccine would need to be developed to protect against its effects.

DESCRIPTION

Out of the many applications of Sith alchemy and sorcery created throughout the history of their Order, there has always been one that the Lady of Secrets has despised. Creating horrific monsters to tear apart the enemies of the Sith? No problem. Designing a mutagenic virus? She will gladly provide the testing equipment. Unleashing an arcane ritual? She would be the first to try it out... but if it involves the creation of Sith zombies or the viral agent known either as the Sickness or the Blackwing Virus, she will refuse anything to do with it. It has always been her belief that the virus first created by Darth Drear is too chaotic a weapon for even the Sith to control, as the abandoned world of Odacer-Faustin would attest.

When rumors reached her that an outbreak had occurred on Atrisia, she immediately called her friend Alexandra Feanor Alexandra Feanor to meet on Moridinae to discuss a way to counter the virus. Their discussion and initial planning might have been interrupted by the attempted liberation of the world by the forces of Kaine Australis, but it still led to Taeli ordering the scientists and geneticists of Spaarti Creations to begin work on a vaccine. Sith alchemy could not be used in the creation of the cure however as the virus only reacts stronger if the dark side is used on it. Another approach would be needed.

Samples of the virus were obtained, and unfortunately, test subjects were needed... although a few Mandalorians were happy to "volunteer" for the trial testing at the facility on Eol Sha. The researchers were looking for a naturally occurring genetic quirk, some immunity within a subject against the virus that could be the building block for their treatment and they eventually discovered it in one of their test subjects that was exposed to the airborne strain of the virus.

The genes responsible for the immunity were quickly synthesized and added into the developing cocktail of synthesized antibodies and modified anti-viral drugs. The vaccine, dubbed the HESTIZO after an ancient Jedi, was designed to attack the virus in three stages. The first stage was to isolate the virus from infesting host cells to such a degree they reached a quorum to activate to full virulence by editting the patient's base cells to include the genetic immunity. The second stage involved disrupting the virus's ability to replicate by directly attacking the RNA of the virus and the underlying Murakami orchid essence used to create the virus with specially designed anti-viral solutions. The third stage involved the synthesized antibodies consuming the damaged virus, destroying it and trapping any remaining viral bits within itself until it was flushed from the body.

It was projected that patients injected with the vaccine, once completed, would have a six month window of protection from the Blackwing Virus strain the vaccine was designed to counter. When HESTIZO-201 was finished, going by the more marketable name of Silverrain, Spaarti Creations at the direction of their Lady began offering it for sale at exceedingly cheap prices to anyone interested.
