  • Description: Herevan Place is a large manor house.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Herevan Place
The house itself is a manor house designed as the official country residence for the Grand Moff of the First Order. It is constructed mainly of reinforced brick, concrete, and stucco, and features reinforced glass windows. Though not always used for entertaining, it was built to house not only the Grand Moff and their spouse and children, but contains three other guest suites in addition to the large dining room, drawing room, reception room, and lounge downstairs. The house is serviced by an expansive basement kitchen and staff quarters below stairs.

Landing Pad
Although generally the area surrounding Herevan Place is subject to a no-fly zone for security purposes, exceptions are made for the Grand Moff's transport. A certain portion of the front garden has been subtly reinforced to serve as a landing pad for the Grand Moff's transport and is able to accommodate ships weighing up to decently-sized corvettes. The area can also be used as a bowling green.

Swimming Pool
In the rear garden, there is a swimming pool for exercise or other aquatic entertainments.

Galidraani Gardens
Beyond the pool in the rear garden is an extensive set of Galidraani gardens, modeled after the gardens at Sterandel House. The Sterandel House gardens, cultivated by the longtime Fortan family friends the Reeds, were famed for their health and variety. The Galidraani gardens at Herevan Place feature sections that are purely Galidraani, others that are purely Dosuunian, and still others that were bred by combining complementary plants from Galidraan and Dosuun, symbolizing the union of Galidraani values with the frontier spirit of Dosuun.

Safe Room
In the sub-basement, a safe room has been constructed that can withstand significant bombardment, designed for use in the event of an invasion or other violent assault.

The Folly
Another Galidraani tradition transplanted to Dosuun, the Folly is a piece of classical architecture, appearing like a small, symmetrical ancient temple with columns and a triangle edifice atop. It is quite small compared to the house -- roughly four meters by sixteen meters -- and open to the elements above (although, depending on its use, a waterproof fabric implement can be used to weatherproof it). When the house was in use by its previous occupant, Natasi Fortan, the Folly was occasionally used for serving afternoon tea, and rarely as a pavilion from which to begin pheasant shooting weekends.

SECURITY
High
- Due to its designation as an official residence of the First Order's Head of Government, Herevan Place features significant security and surveillance capabilities, most of which are unseen. When not in use, the house is locked down, with retractable shutters in the windows and doorways. The property's perimeter, while unguarded to the naked eye, features ground sensors and motion-activated cameras which, when activated, trigger a rapid deployment of security and, if necessary, military forces from locations minutes away by air. Specialized speakers emit noises at specific frequencies to deter wildlife from venturing onto the property, which can be disabled or enabled as desired.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Built in the 840s in the early part of Natasi Fortan's first term as Grand Moff of the First Order, Herevan Place was conceived of as a private home for the First Order's Grand Moff. While Natasi had her own private country estate, the unconventional Breakriver, she was loathe to share this part of her life with the government she was leading, preferring to keep it as a sacred space for herself -- so sacred, indeed, that its location was never charted on a map. Thus, at her own expense, Fortan built Herevan Place. Named for the estate and county where she was born and raised, the house was a little piece of Galidraan in the wilderness of Dosuun. Upon completion of Herevan Place, Natasi donated the title to the First Order, to be placed in trust for the use of the Grand Moff of the day.

The house was used extensively during the first years of Fortan's term of office, the site of several diplomatic and government functions as well as informal negotiations and discussion. After the first Galactic Alliance/First Order war, the house served as the principal site of Jaius Sovv's prison; the Sullustan president was given more or less the run of the estate when the Grand Moff was not in residence. The staff was instructed to provide for his every need and allow him unlimited access to the house and grounds as well as the amenities of the estate, save for unmonitored communications, and of course the ability to escape.

It was at Herevan Place, during a game of Calavar Property Ladder Game between Fortan and Sovv, that Fortan learned of the death of her husband, Talbot Vitalis, at Dagobah. Fortan never returned to Herevan Place; it lay empty for years following Vitalis' death, as Sovv escaped First Order custody not long after this episode.

The house came to be used again during the second Ssi-Ruuk siege of Dosuun when it became a shelter and headquarters for local resistance forces against the Ssi-Ruuk Imperium. It was one of the last holdouts and managed to stay free until Dosuun was liberated. As the First Order regains its strength, its caretakers are working on cleaning up the house, restoring its former glory in preparation for welcoming a new Grand Moff.
