ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Hoist the Black: These fearsome pirate battleships can face down the worst the galaxy has to offer, and come back swinging. The Hellebore is armed and armored to the teeth, garrisoned by veteran marine droids, and more than equipped for the thick of naval warfare.
  • On Stormy Wings: While not especially fast normally, the Hellebore is capable of briefly achieving surprising speed for so large a ship, allowing it to catch up to quicker vessels or interpose itself in front of friendly ones.
WEAKNESSES
  • Crow's Nest: Though it retains a small fighter/support complement, the Hellebore's overall hangar capacity is very poor.
DESCRIPTION

The first in a modern line of Helix warships, the Hellebore is intended to replace the Vourdalak in all future engagements.

A long, sleek vessel, the Hellebore reflects changes to Helix's naval strategy. These vessels are fairly uncommon, as the Privateers are primarily raiders. Nonetheless, when military force is needed above all else, the Hellebore answers the call.

Armored in expensive, supernaturally-dense metals, the Hellebore is intended to sit in the center of an engagement, taking the worst the enemy has to offer with contempt and giving as bad as it gets.

The Hellebore is armed with the latest of Helix's arcane innovations, crewed by ghostly holodroids, defended by the strangest defenses Helix's mind can create, and can project a terrifying hail of firepower at anything unfortunate enough to earn its ire, be it a planetary target, enemy strike craft, or even vessels much larger than itself.

Though the Privateers are centuries-divorced from their CIS past, many ships still paint themselves with the heraldry of that long-dead organization. As such, these vessels can often be seen sporting the blue and white, as a matter of tradition if nothing else.

Despite sharing no parts in common with such ancient vessels, some CIS design DNA can still be seen, aside from that painted on their hulls. The long, sleek, sweeping profile of the Munificent is the most obvious inspiration, though something of the ancient Providence also shows itself in the archaic, elevated command tower design.

Most insidiously, the majority of the Hellebore's firepower is carefully hidden. Its surface, to all exterior inspection, is mostly smooth, unbroken by weapons emplacements. A foolish or ignorant observer might mistake it for a consular vessel or cargo hauler, but when provoked, hundreds of emplacements slide out of concealed compartments with deadly intention.

The Hellebore has quickly become the face of the new Helix fleet, and its arrival over one's planet heralds nothing good for anyone below. It is a standing emblem of the Privateers' brutality and inhumanity, and should be dreaded as such.
